Ahsoka (2023)
For real Star Wars fans
The majority of the complaints are from people who think it's slow, lacks character development, there is a maguffin plot, and that it's another show forcing "strong female leads" (which unsurprisingly they say as if it's a derogatory term). The fact is the storytelling is subtle and deliberate, these characters have been developed long before this, the plot continues from their previous experiences, and they are well established as strong female leads (which I say with respect and a wholehearted endorsement). Go watch 'Rebels', read about it, whatever it takes to catch up. Or simply don't watch Ashoka and accept the fact that it's not for you if you didn't take the time to know or care about these characters. This is the story that every Rebels fan wanted.
The Santa Suit (2010)
A Christmas Masterpiece of cr*p with Television's Hercules Kevin Sorbo
What the world needs: Television's Hercules Kevin Sorbo in a Christmas classic. This movie is what happens if you combine A Christmas Carol, It's a Wonderful Life, and Miracle on 34th Street with the beauty and charm of none of them. Seriously though, I caught this movie, starring Television's Hercules Kevin Sorbo, many years ago and it's so bizarre in how seriously everyone is taking it it adds up to something so wonderfully and hilariously bad. Television's Hercules Kevin Sorbo is Drake Hunter, an expertly overacted caricature of a Scrooge like toy exec. It's one of the earlier Hallmark movies and doesn't quite fit that new formula they churn out so they don't show it anymore. Naturally I bought the DVD; inviting Television's Hercules Kevin Sorbo into my home is a standard for every Christmas!
Willow (2022)
For fans of the original who can still believe magic is real
I have been waiting for more Willow since 1988 and after only 2 episodes I find the new series to be wonderful and all I could have hoped for. But here's the catch... I can still sit down and enjoy fantasy for what it is. I can let myself go and be the ten year old who loved this world and these characters and for just a few hours believe magic is real.
Everything I've seen feels like the world of Willow and I don't know what more we can get with the pieces there are to work with. Young actors have to carry the story. Accept that Val Kilmer cannot be Madmartigan the way he was if ever (not going to lie, I am hoping for a cameo). Enjoy it for what it is and if you can't believe in magic anymore I'm sorry. Maybe the time has passed and fantasy isn't for you anymore. I hear crime drama and murder shows are big now but that seems kind of awful and close to reality Sonora not what I want out of entertainment. I would also recommend that you don't watch the original either; it's not a perfect movie by any stretch and it may not hold up for you.
Story and actors aside, I'm taking off a star because the contemporary end credit music feels out of place. It's 2 for 2 on killing the dramatic effect at the end of the episodes.
