Wildcat (2022)
Always thinking...
This is the film, because of its many facets, that causes you to think and reflect hours, days, even weeks...later. Always thinking. It's a story of love lost and found in different forms later, and still even as life goes on. As it should, this is the film that asks more questions, than it gives answers and yet, is greater than the sum of its parts. Beautifully filmed and naturally portrayed, this is the film that gives joy even when it is most sad. I watched this film again, just to see if the feelings it left me with were genuine. And, it did. So glad it found me at a time when I could appreciate it. Thank you Harry and Sam!
Invasion: First Day (2021)
Too Sloooooooooooow
Two things encouraged me to continue watching this painful sci-fi: the first episode and the fact that Sam Neill was in it. I was hoping he would return. Maybe he will in the second season, but I won't be watching to find out! The first episode was enticing, but it went downhill from there with minor interaction with the alien invasion. If you're going to do alien Sci-fi, it's constantly got to be exciting, innovative, and shocking in order to keep your audience. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE ALIENS! While I certainly understand the filming technique, the extremely dark presentation without shedding enough light at times to distinguish if there was even any one on screen was most disappointing. I want to see what's going on, dammit! BTW: the three stars are for Sam Neill!
Red Skies of Montana (1952)
I remember this movie.
I was a kid, when it first appeared on "Saturday Night at the Movies" in the early sixties. Sat and watched it with my sister and mom. Haven't seen it listed much since then, and certainly not recently. This and the movie "The Halls of Montezuma" made me a Richard Widmark fan. And Jeffrey Hunter was a favorite as well. Made in 1952, the year of my birth, I remember it for its vivid color and mountainous beauty. Yesterday's (June 30, 2013) announcement of the death of 19 smoke-jumpers in Arizona had me spot on with the memory of "The Red Skies of Montana"! Got the name, the stars, and year of release all correct. Now, that's an impressive movie. I highly recommend it.
