Eureka (2006–2012)
9/10
Light-hearted and entertaining
18 July 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Cheeky humor and weird mysteries (and crazy plot twists) make up this new Sci-fi series. Despite the fact that it's a haven for more technobabble than all 5 series and 10 movies of Star Trek, it's personable enough to enjoy without having to wrap your brain around the concepts. The part that interested me more than most of the other parts of the show was the relation to Einstein and his suggestion for a 'haven' for geniuses to live and think in a secure location. And the rest of the season! It's like X-Files + Firefly/Serenity. Not bad if I do say so myself.

Previous experience with theoretical physics is recommended. Enjoy!

Star Trek: Bridge Commander (2002 Video Game)
8/10
Entertaining, but droning
12 June 2006
Definitely one of the better Star Trek games out there, Bridge Commander certainly does put you in direct command of a starship. However, starships move too much like the capital ships they are, and therefore combat can sometimes be long and drawn out. Even more so is the repetitive voice acting. Not to say that it isn't bad acting, it's just that you tend to hear the same voices again and again and again...

However the game is set up in a nice manor, and the thought behind it is incredible. Each starship has it's own unique hard points and arcs for weapons, so strategically lining up your shots is a must for victory. At the very least, the game makes you think.

On another note, the music is good. However, unfortunately, it doesn't fit the mood of the game very well. The music is nicely performed and is nice to listen to, but it is way too slow and soft for a game centered around starship combat and operations. Otherwise, the music is very nice :) Regardding mods, there are plenty of starships to download on the internet to make this game worth getting. While the game itself comes with only a limited few to fly, with all the BC mods out there, you can double, possibly triple the amount of starships in your list. (There are even mods that are NOT Star Trek related, such as Battlestar Galactica, etc). If you do decide to download mods, my first suggestion would be the Prometheus. Yes, you CAN go into Multi Vector Assault Mode (MVAM) and it is one of the coolest additions I have seen for ANY game.

Enjoy! I would say it's worth buying now at a discounted price. Fun way to kill some time.

Maybe I was just having a bad day...
26 September 2005
Warning: Spoilers
*May contain spoiler* Maybe I was just having a bad day, but for whatever reason, I didn't like the movie all that much. There were some decently funny scenes, but nothing specific comes to mind when i try to think of the best scene. It didn't leave that much of an impression on me. All i saw in it was lots of nudity and sexual references. The jokes seemed shallow and distasteful, but it could still be funny to a good many people. Another reason could just be that certain characters reminded me of people I knew who I was trying to forget at the time, so whenever that person would come up, I would be reminded of someone else. Definitely not a good thing. This movie shouldn't be seen with parents, and it probably wouldn't make a good date movie either. One or two quotable parts top it off, but not any terrific extent. The movie Serenity had no nudity and no sexual references the entire movie, and it was still a much funnier movie than Wedding Crashers. That's saying something considering Serenity is a space-action-scifi of terrific extent. Just as good if not better than the Matrix! Save your money from Wedding Crashers and use it to see Serenity.

Serenity (2005)
10/10
A rival to that of even Star Wars/Trek
8 September 2005
If I could give it a 20 out of 10, I would!

This movie is worth seeing again and again and again. Everyone, even non-Firefly fans, can still watch it and know EXACTLY what's going on at ALL times. The movie is just absolutely amazing. I can say with reasonable assurance that you will never see another movie like it for a very long time, if ever again. Tell everyone you can about it. It's humorous, thrilling, dramatic, and action packed. You will be entertained from start to finish, guaranteed! So come September 30th...Go to your local movie theater and purchase a ticket. Then get all of your friends to come with you. You will not regret it.

The cancellation of Firefly was not due to the writing, so don't try holding that against the movie. I cannot say enough how brilliant and masterfully written Serenity is, and I hope you will all see for yourselves. It's just......incredible. Amazing. Beyond words.
