Okay at best

Another overrated movie.

There's nothing that stands out with this movie. Maybe I've watched too many great asian horror movies to be impressed by this.

But to me this was just borring from start to finish.

It was rather easy for me to figure out what was going on early in the movie. There was no interesting plot twist or anything noteworthy.

None of the characters are likeable or interesting.

The visuals were alright and the lead actress was good.

Maybe the director just isn't talented enough to make a good or even great movie.

Making movies is not for everyone.

Don't let all those good reviews fool you. This is NOT a great movie.

Not good.

Warning: Spoilers
This has the be one of the worst entries of this franchise or maybe even the worst. I've watched all 6 of them and this one right here isn't a good movie.

I was going into this movie with rather high expectations since I like the Whispering Corridors franchise and also because Lee Miyoung knows how to make good movies (Voices,The Truth Beneath) She messed up this one though. 2/3 of this movie are solid but the last 30 minutes are a big fat mess. She mixes things together that don't fit together. The whole military part doesn't fit the movie at all and I don't know what she was thinking there. She tries to put too many different things in one movie and it doesn't work. Also some of the characters in this movie are very annoying and don't fit into the whole vibe of it. This movie isn't really scary and it's at least 30 minutes too long. I watched hundreds of asian horror movies in the last 10 years and this one was not worth my time.

Awful movie.

This movie is terrible. I had to quit it after 40 minutes because I couldn't stand it anymore and I rarely quit movies. I felt like I've just wasted 40 minutes of my life. Everything about this movie sucks. The acting is terrible. The plot doesn't even matter because of this over-the-top dumpsterfire of acting.

All the "creepy" seens have been done before but 10 times better.

I've been watching asian horror movies for almost two decades so my standrads are high. I don't expect every movie to be great but this movie just had nothing going for it. There was nothing special, nothing unique about it.

If your are looking for a good asian horror movie stay away from this one.

Borring
31 May 2020
I had high hopes for this movie. I saw almost every japanese horror movie you can imagine and this one was one of the few I hadn't seen so far. What can I say ? I wish I hadn't watched it. It was borring as hell. I know its an old movie but still a movie is ether good or not. This one isn't good. There's nothing scarry or creepy about it. There are no disturbing scenes. There's nothing of that creeping up your spine horror that makes japanese horror movies so special. There's nothing that stands out in this one. It's a rather short movie with 75mins but even those minutes felt like a drag. If you want to watch a good movie from Nakata watch the Ring series,Dark Water or Sadako(which is a good movie although it has bad ratings.) This one is a miss.

Average "korean" horror
17 May 2020
Name a korean horror movie. I've seen it. Where did all the good korean horror from the early 2000s go ? Somehow people thought "The Wailing" was a great movie and now everyone is trying to copy it. Exorcism, Shamanism everywhere. Where did the subtle creeping up your brain horror go ? This movie is like an american exorcism movie. It even has jump scares. It starts rather promising but becomes kinda uncreative quick. I have seen most of this somewhere before, in a better form, in an US movie(Insidious). That's not the kind of horror I want from a korean horror movie. Theres a hundred better US movies with that topic out there. Not impressed at all.

Trying to do too much
24 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Since there are so many good korean thrillers it seems the director was trying to make this movie more wicked than all of them together. Unfortunately that's the downfall of this movie. The movie starts rather solid and I was hoping I'm in for maybe even a great movie. But as the movie moves on it get's more and more absurd. Too many dream sequences. You also can tell rather early that something is wrong with that "family". There are just too many scenes that are unreliable and mistakes made that even a human with half a brain wouldn't make. In my opinion the director was just trying to do too much which hurts this movie. He should have sticked to a more conservative script. So overall this movie starts solid but as it moves on it's just all over the place. I would call it an average movie.

Disappointment
7 January 2017
If you liked "Cure" or "Pulse" you will be disappointed by this movie. It seems like Kurosawa lost his "magic". This is a very average movie, nothing you haven't seen before. The camera-work and acting is great but the movie and the whole plot was a huge letdown to me. What made Kurosawas movies great was that they had this unique idea, this special feeling, something you couldn't really put in words. This movie is just very predictable. To me it wasn't "Creepy" at any point. Throughout the whole movie I was hoping for it to pick up the pace and develop this unique feeling which made Kurosawas movies so great - it never happened. Very early in the movie you could tell whose the Badguy and in which direction this movie is heading. If you want to see Kurosawa at his peak watch "Cure" or "Pulse". If you have seen them already take "Retribution" or "Charisma". This one was a letdown to me.
