Ozark: A Hard Way to Go (2022)
Disappointing for being too far out in some areas and too spot on in others, but not crowd pleasing.
I didn't read reviews going in but noted this episode overall was rated much lower than any other episodes . I just saw 6.3, when most are above 8. I saw that number and I knew one thing was going to happen. They were going to kill off Ruth. This is akin to the Walking Dead "If Daryl dies we riot." She, not only for me , but for many fans was the one person, you dint kill off. Marty or the kids would not be taken well, but Ruth? I get it there are not happy endings in real life. I didn't know what would happen with other characters though. I dud suspect The Byrds would live because in the first episode Marty spoke of how most people are in debt and never financially get ahead in Life. Except people not deserving. So it. Was a predictable ending given what it payed out in the first episode. That was clever and shows why Ruth had to die. Unfortunately, she would be looked at like a "Redneck" and from a family of losers so her death makes sense as far as the unfair world. I still can't get over her dying in this though from when she first appeared on screen in the series that was her inevitable fate. I also do take issue with the Car crash in this Episode that was foreshadowed as it occurred farther back in the series as a dream that was reality. No way 4 people walk away from that kind of crash and then are all walking and fine soon after. That was not realistic. So it makes the show look uneven. Keep it real with Ruth but the crash is anything but unrealistic. That killed the argument over the perceived rationality of this.
The Blacklist: Boukman Baptiste (No. 164) (2022)
Fake Woke
People in my opinion , watch TV or movies for escape. I used to watch stuff where has a message about social justice. If the writing is good and it's well done you can like it if it's not heavy handed. At least that's my experience. Even stuff I didn't agree with. This Fake Woke stuff us pushed on you in this episode. It's despicable that you can't just watch a good story. There may be themes you don't agree with, but as I said if the writing is adequate and a story develops naturally. This randomly dropped Breonna Taylor and George Floyd's name et cetera. It was pointless and pushed. In life I am sensitive to these issues presented and agree with some not others. I do not want it pushed and out of place in TV shows and movies. It's pathetic that a show about a criminal and the FBI gives an anti police message. Especially with this many seasons.
The Equalizer 2 (2018)
5 Out of 10.Denzel is Denzel so 2 Additional stars
The Plot was a little convoluted with some cliche's of mentoring by Denzel. That's not Denzel's fault but probably the writing. Action was fair and it was enjoyable for the moment, but not memorable. What is memorable is for me, I know not for everyone, but there are some others, Denzel Is Denzel. He's one of the most gifted Actors out there. I always have a Stupid Joke that every year for Academy Award Best Actor they should have a field that excludes Denzel Washington, and you get your winner. Then Denzel and the Best Actor both receive an Academy Award for Best Actor. Denzel is Denzel. Same thing for Best Actress Except it's Meryl Streep and Jennifer Lawrence.
A Year in the Life (1987)
A little seen Gem that was always memorable to me.
Expertly acted, interesting characters and story line. I thought it was a hip and cool show. I remember thinking Trey Ames would be the next River Phoenix.(River Phoenix was the coolest young actor at the time with performances that were nuanced and mature belying his young age) I have always wondered what would have happened had it been more seen. It had everything going for it. If you haven't seen this show, see it. I was a kid when I watched it and it made it lasting impresssion and is in my top ten of all time.
