Lost it
27 May 2021
What started out to have great promise lost it very easily, the film is clearly of a low budget, but has inklings to be something far more superior, often it pulls this off. But then it goes off in side tangents, taking the part of the story where the romantic couple become separated a rocky road,

Unfortunately when the story hits division, there is nothing to pull this film back on its tracks and if I'm honest I gave up giving the film my fullest attention.

The film is what it is, but its now European Vacation and while everyone struggles to make the film the best it can be, the less impressive script knows everyone for six.

Unhinged (I) (2020)

Tense Thriller
27 May 2021
This film sneaked out in carpet slippers during the global pandemic and its rea\lly sad it never got to see the audience it deserved.

Crow admirably plays the obese unhinged character of the title, with a depth not seen recently in his work. The film offers a very tense viewing experience that basically stems from this single performance.

While the movies climax is unfortunately a let down, the twists and turns take it places we have not seen since the Hitcher in 1985.

Best online viewing experience
27 May 2021
Without a doubt the best recent online viewing experience, but then how to you go wrong with $100m budget.

The film has plotholes that cannot even be explained by the "safe" but its a solid thing in terms of the blockbuster experience.

The super imposition of Tig Notero is probably the cleverest attribute of the film, you can see why the film went over budget with this 11th hour inclusion replacing the previous actor.

Give this a whirl if you love zombie flicks. You cannot go wrong.

Penguin Bloom (2020)
8/10
A truly delightful film
12 February 2021
I can honestly say i felt totally moved by this film, the realism of the handling of a person with restricted movements was a reality I was not ready for. The things that are never covered are expertly so here. There is a real feeling that someone understood the story, which I should add turns out to be true,

Naomi Watts knocks it out of the park in terms of performance, you realkly feel her pain and struggle as she moves through this altered universe.

The weakness was in Andrew Lincoln, not the performance, just the use, for as little as he pops up Sam Bloom (Watts) may as well have been a single mum. It almost feels as if more was shot, then edited out tpo achieve a running time.

Criticism aside as the movie drew to a close I cried like a baby, its not exactly a happy ending, it may be for Sam Bloom, but the cold reality is that for one of the characters you know there is not going to be a happy ending, a level of unwritten life that we know exists, but dont feel we need it, well not in the current climate anyway.

A big thumbs up, but its a film that will move you, and maybe not in a good way.

The bomb sunk the film
12 February 2021
A solid cop thriller gets dragged down by a bomb, here great lovelable performances are ruined by the worst bomb explosion I have ever seen, no fire random things explofding, no blood. What went wrong here i don't know, but an ambitios attenmpt to creat something different just lost all purpose.

I struggled to get passed the bomb trauma, the rest of the film was solid, but all i'll ever remember is that bomb.

I don't get it
12 February 2021
This film is a real struggle for me, a struggle to get the hype. Once the Aliens reveal their intention credibility flies out of the wiondow, the performances are stunning, but just let down by this totally lacklustre ending. Too much pomp over circumstance and its tragic, because up to 50% through the menace of this film kept me on the edge of my seat, only to disapoint in the most sensational way I hgave ever experienced.

The Ultimate Spaggheti Western
12 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
When I was a child there was always a western on TV, this however broke that. This is one of the most visually stunning films I have ever seen, from the minute Fonda and posse arrive in town everything is shot with such style.

This is more of a musical performance (without words) a masterclass in mixing score and substance. The scenes may sometimes seem overly wrong but its all part of this elaborate dance, the dance of magic of movement and stuning visuals.

Dario Argento pretty much started his career here with Leone and its clear when ytou look at Plumage, Profondo Rosso and Suspiria where his vision comes from. I mean how many films can literally draw the menace like the cinematography does here?

This is the most perfect western of all time.

The Greatest Gangster Film Of All Time
12 February 2021
Sergio Leone's sprawling hgangster tale is like watching one of those 80's mini series, 60 years of a life told in around 4 hours. The film is well written, acted. It has humour, threat and the drive to make every gangster movie ever made look inferior.

The score id phenomenal, you can feel the movements in the film in the music.

Every shot is a work of art, from the streets of Brooklym to the Fruit Cellar, James Woods staring out of the window to DeNiro entering the cript.

Nothing will ever beat the power of this film, its so sad Leone never eally got to see the impact it had and still has on its audience.

Probably the greatest American gangster film
12 February 2021
My views are itrrelevant most likely, but for me this is the best American Gangster film ever made, I state American as obviously Once Upon A Time In America is the greatestet gangster film.

Sitting at over two hours the film passes in the blink of an eye, the characters are well developed its a pure genius film.

Death Walks (2016)
10/10
Average indie film
20 January 2017
Just watched Death Walks, I'm not quite sure how I feel about it to be honest. Like all low budget British films it's clearly lacking something. But that's not in the production value. It just lacks the polish, it's not poor quality like lots of British films. It's just very average. Neither good nor bad. The good thing I guess is that I watched it to the end, as in right to the very end, I was pleased to see Jessie Williams in the film, as she is one of those people I've grown up with in terms of television. It's quite top see her out of her usual surroundings i.e. kids TV.

The story was really good, with some really good twists, including one I don't think has ever been done in a movie before, although I could be wrong.

There is this really awful performance from this woman with a bizarre strange voice quite near the end, talking about dismemberment or some such.

Had the film not have had a fairly unique twist this would be a four star rating. But for going in a new direction it deserves some reward. Having done some research I see there is already a kind of sequel already made with a bigger budget, so i'll be looking out for that.
