Showing Up (2022)
Depressing
This movie depicts Artists as depressing people with no personalities who live like paupers. The "Art School" was like a commune from the 60's. The dysfunctional family added to the depressing view of artists in general.
This movie was sooooo ssslllloooowww that I started to fall asleep a few times. My husband kept waiting for it to be over. It was boring and depressing and the only good thing was the popcorn and candy we ate while waiting for it to end.
With the featured actor, Michelle Williams, I expected more... much more.
My advise is to choose a different movie or stay home and watch something on Netflix.
Wild Rose (2018)
Wildly Depressing
We saw this movie last night. I do not understand how so many people loved this movie. I knew she was coming out of jail (it's in the description of the movie). But her self destructive ways over and over again is hard to watch over and over again. It could have been so much better.
A Ghost Story (2017)
The Ghost is the missing Story
My sister and I went to see this movie together.... Mistake! This was the worst movie I have ever seen, and I see movies almost every week. It started, we thought the film got stuck, and we should have followed our instincts and left. The entire movie is silent and leaves the movie watcher waiting for something to happen, anything. I do not understand the positive rating of 7.8... Maybe I expecting too much when I am hoping for some dialog, anything (the Ghost do "talk" to each other, HA). I can see this movie being replayed on Saturday Night Live.
Kimi no na wa. (2016)
B o r i n g
This movie sounded interesting from all the reviews, I love the theater it was playing at so bonus time! It started slow and remained slow the entire movie!! It was hard to follow and took a very long time to figure what the heck was going on. A couple of times I caught myself nodding off. In fact someone behind us started snoring and someone else snorted loud when they started to fall asleep, it was that bad. I don't understand the rave reviews this movie is getting, maybe one has to be a anime fan to enjoy it.
La La Land (2016)
Dear Hollywood
Dear Hollywood, I was looking forward to seeing La La Land with my sisters. We went and were enjoying the movie (hence the 6 rating) then...... THE ENDING...... We ALL want a happy ending! It's make believe, it's hopeful, it makes us leave the theater singing and laughing and dancing (just like when we saw Singing in the Rain). When a movie starts out with everyone singing and dancing for no reason (some complaints about this but I liked it) it's fun and uplifting. The two main characters were great together on screen, the story line was easy to follow and it flowed without dragging too long on any one part. Unless a movie is based on a real life story. . . WE WANT A HAPPY ENDING! Dear Hollywood, Please give us a happy ending on movies like this. Thank you.
