Fargo (2014)
I could never live in Fargo
Bizarre. Edgy. Impossibly wicked . Sometimes I felt like actions taking place were mimicking trump and his followers all the way to the capitol. Robotic, cult like followers. Jennifer Jason Leigh was so good. She dripped with sarcasm to the level of laughter. Loved her in the role and hope she gets some award credit . John Hamm excellent in his evil incarnate role . Did not know Juno Temple at all but will sure be looking out for her now . Overall loved the 2023 episodes. At times on the edge of my seat with racing heart . And right until the end with insane man quoting a man must pay his debt.
Leave the World Behind (2023)
Leave This Film Behind
I felt on edge most of the film waiting for the film to show why it was so edgy . Never happened. Julia's character was so annoying. Always yelling at someone . And her son .. cute guy .. but it seemed as though the purpose of the film was to showcase his eyes because he sure had nothing to say . And the role of the father seemed to be to calm his wife so she didn't have to yell anymore while the daughter lived in fantasy with Friends and spoke like she was 18 rather than 13 or 14 . And the film flirted with cliche so strongly ... was there goin to be affair ... or two.. which would have been even more nauseating. Such good actors with such a garbage script.
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
Lobster anyone ?
I can't help but mention The Lobster since I don't remember disliking a film as much since The Lobster . And I sat through this one thinking the same thing.. are we there yet? Will it ever end ? What's it about anyway? Did someone slip her a drug I didn't notice ? Was it caused by one of those games you put on your head and on her it triggered an unending distortion of reality? How about a nervous breakdown ? But then I'm told to not take it too seriously ??!! In college I never understood the books we had to read on symbolism. Is this a dose of that?? I give credit to the actors but that's where it ends . I hated it just like The Lobster .
Olive Kitteridge (2014)
Poor Henry
As I look back on this well acted drama all I can think is poor Henry. He spent his life dodging barbs , nasty judgments and putting out fires set by Olive . He had dreams never realized. Does he get another chance??? Olive might . Doesn't seem fair somehow .
The Dry (2020)
His eyes were vivid blue .
If you are going to do flashbacks and have the characters as teenagers and then adults shouldn't they keep the same eye color??? Young Aaron had vivid blue eyes but adult Aaron ( Eric Bana) has decidedly dark eyes . Is this a goof or just plainly not bothering for authenticity much like the rest of the movie .
Justine (2019)
Does grief mean you can't be grateful?
Was she always mean and abrupt or did grief do that? An unsatisfying story. And a terrible ending . It didn't have to be a cliche ending just something redeeming.
Mare of Easttown (2021)
A surprise ending that tried too hard .
I enjoyed the series very much til the end . Then it felt like they had to pull out all stops to surprise the viewers with a you didn't see this coming of an ending . But that ending was dumb . This was a kid who got sent upstairs whenever there was a hint of an adult conversation but yet he could sneak out at night , steal a gun , do a crime all on a bicycle and nobody in this small town where everyone knows everyone and someone sees everything .. no one noticed . They tried too hard for suspense.
The Clovehitch Killer (2018)
Ran out of steam
Very clever until the end . Then someone ran out of ideas and threw together an ending which was lame .
The Silencing (2020)
The Trailer was so deceptive.
Good trailer . Awful film . The main actor's x wife whose 15 yo daughter has been missing for 5 yrs and she looks all of 20 . And stupid it goes . Every time he goes to the forest his truck won't start . And the sheriff. She's cute but can't act . She sides on one cheek in her truck . The forest and the river were beautiful. If I had to live in such a town I'd kill n myself .
Killing Eve (2018)
Jody Comer is exquisite!
She is amazing! And she got ripped off in the awards department!
Miss Sloane (2016)
In depth look at our awful gun allowances .
Jessica Chastain was superb ! I never considered that the movie didn't do so well at the box office because it told a story about challenging our too lenient gun laws . But it's a good point . And a sad one as well . I'd give up my 2nd amendment right in a heartbeat to save anyone from an AK47 or any gun for that matter .
Unstoppable (2010)
Cliche side stories on a runaway train.
I could handle the train action even as viewers found it unrealistic. It's the side stories that were so tired . Denzel's wife died of cancer . Pines wife left him over what? Text messaging?! And all the incompetence of the railroad people makes me never want to ride a train again ! And at the end the major offender is said to now be working in fast food!! That's it ??? No jail time for anyone?? Two men died . Millions of dollars lost . Cliche crap on a runaway train.
Transsiberian (2008)
Terrible acting!
Emily Mortimer was awful. And I usually like Woody but he likely had to overact to make up for her dullness. Waste of time.
The Daughter (2015)
Ruthless Vengeance
I found the movie to be quite absorbing and the actors excellent especially Oliver and Hedvig . Yes there are secrets in people's lives and who gets to decide to expose a secret ... that isn't even yours . And why did Christian expose this secret? Because he wanted revenge on his father and was angry at his estranged wife . So a beautiful family was destroyed so he could exact revenge . While he conveniently ignored his own missteps .
The Mustang (2019)
It failed to pull me in .
When there is a horse involved I bring along the tissues . Tears without fail . However something was missing. Some emotion? Something to pull me into the story? Loved Mathias! He struggled so hard with his emotions and tears he never knew he had but I watched it all calmly ! And sorry can't believe drugs like Ketamine would be so easy to steal . !
The Old Man & the Gun (2018)
Boring .
Kept hoping for some pearls of wisdom in their conversations but notta. Just empty.
Gook (2017)
Can't even keep the "black eye" straight!
After the first beating he had a black left eye. Next scene it was his right eye . Never got better- the movie that is .
Killing Eve (2018)
Jody Comer is exquisite!
She is amazing! And she got ripped off in the awards department!
Roma (2018)
What am I missing???
I expected to love this film. The first scene scared me ... I mean how long can you look at water thrown on the tile floor? It never got better.
