Demon of Paradise (1987)
That Bad Its Bad
A quick Summary of this film: A Green Fish like Monster takes a liking to eating people 0n the Paradise island of Hawaii.
With the low budget and poor acting the only watchable aspects about this film are the scenes showing the Wildlife and the Island. I managed to watch the whole film on my Film philosophy that it can only get better, Unfortuantly it Didn't!
Why i gave it 2/10 instead of 1/10 shows the quality of films i have seen in my life time.
I would say avoid but make your own mind up....

Mortuary (2005)
Just plain bad
I watched this movie only because it was a Tobe Hooper film and was hoped for something good, but alas it wasn't, why Tobe Hooper is getting money to make such poor films is beyond me. Was it supposed to be scary or camp to me it was neither.
The story line is just a copy of a mix of other films (so no thought involved there)The acting was dreadful especially from the women who owns the Cafe(rita) . There were no scares or suspense, just a waste of money on special effects. You may think i am being slightly harsh on this film, but with the reputation of Tobe Hooper you expect something half decent. Please stay clear of this one there are far more low budget horror movies out there which are far better then this piece of crap.
Friday the 13th (1980)
Camp Blood
This is one of my favourite horror films ever, for me this was the film that made me into a massive horror fan i am today.
As for the film it is set at a camp site called Crystal lake (aka camp blood) which has a very checkered past, so a group a councillors decide to do the place up for the summer. Then they start getting killed off one by one in very gruesome ways , but not after getting involved in sex, drink and drugs.
This film has spawned hundreds of copies which most have not come close to this. The ending was a big surprise when you find out who the killer was and the finale if that does not make you jump you have no emotion.
The cast is not great but does not need to be, but it is nice to see a young Kevin Bacon get wasted, i feel that most of the credit must go to Tom Savini and his special effects which are great. all in all this really is worthy horror treat and a great shocker for its time...
The Thing (1982)
D.T.A Don't trust anybody
I remember watching this film when i was 14 and i genuinely thought this was the greatest Horror film i had ever seen, twelve years later i brought and watched it again and it still is. This in my opinion is John Carpenters best film (thou Halloween is excellent). This film has it all scares great special effect a very creepy atmosphere and a sense of claustrophobia, as for the cast the main star is Kurt Russell but to be fair the rest of the cast are all just as important and play there roles very well believing they are scared for there lives. I don't want go into the story i think i would just ruin it for people who have not seen The Thing but i would recommend it for anyone who is a horror fan or for that matter a movie fan. I know there are so many old horror been remade at the minute, so i would just like to say please leave this classic alone, instead give it the credit it really deserves.
PS DON'T TRUST ANYBODY.
The Spiral Staircase (1946)
A beautiful masterpiece of cinematic history
I don't make many comments on films but with the Sprial staircase i make the exception. Being a big fan of this genre i admit that i had never heard of this film, but one day being sick from work and feeling sorry for myself i switched on the TV to find the spiral staircase showing, so i decided to give it a go. After five minutes i was hypnotised everything about the film was stunning the location , the acting, the house and the filming make this film almost the perfect film.
The directer Robert Siodmak should get a lot of credit for giving this a eerie atmosphere. The sprial staircase deserves more credit than it gets, There are hundreds of slasher films out there with better equipment and a far bigger budget, but still this film stands out a mile. To sum up if you do see this film advertised on TV or for rent at your local video shop my advice would be to watch it because your in for a real treat.
Black Christmas (1974)
A creepy and unexpected horror treat.
I was browsing through my local video {finding nothing in the latest new releases as usual) when i come across Black Christmas, as a horror fan decided to rent it thinking it would be another Halloween rip off (not knowing it was made four years earlier)
To my surprise BLACK Christmas turned out be horror gem. With a decent cast staring Margot superman kidder and John nightmare on elm street Saxon, I found it to be very creepy especially with the Christmas back drop(come on Christmas is creepy)
This most scariest thing about the movie is the maniac, with his phone calls to the girls and that he just want to kill for his pleasure.
If there's anyone who wants late night scare i would recommend Black Christmas.I also hear there will be a remake of this movie in 2006 which when released should put some focus on the original and receive the credit it truly deserves.
