Very solid and entertaining retelling of Vlad the Impaler aka Dracula ;)

This was a very solid and entertaining film. If you are coming into this film thinking about historical accuracy and so on about the real Vlad then this might not be for you lol. Been a while since I've been compelled enough to write an actual review on here since I've mostly been sporadic with just rating films without a review on the message boards however, I thoroughly enjoyed this film. Solid performances by the main characters and the plot was smooth. Character development was just right and the ending left me wanting more which I hope they do. The CGI and special effects were great which definitely gave a unique and stylish rendition of Vlad's "vampiric" abilities. This rendition of the classic Dracula mythos has a fresh and very welcoming style and life to it because of the smooth pacing of the sequences and overall solid character performances. This is a first debut for the director and I think he did a good job. A sequel and follow up would be nice. It's just too bad that it was canned by rotten tomatoes and received mixed reviews from the audience and not sure if it made out in the box office however I hear that it sold well on DVD/Blu-Ray release so yeah crossing my fingers haha. I highly recommend this film for those who every now and then want a fill of the vampire ethos. A solid 7/10 stars.

Had so much potential to be one of the best...but falls prey to the residual SKYLINE effect.
11 March 2011
The Viral Campaign and Marketing for BLA were more intriguing and enjoyable than the film itself...the historical event that really took place in Los Angeles should have been referenced as well as the eyewitness accounts of what was seen...however the movie diverted its attention to a squad of forgettable marines, a worn-out storyline, non-existent character development, and mashed it with Skyline CGI prowess...

Save your money and get it on netflix or rent it when available...

6/10 is my rating.

The Event (2010–2011)
10/10
Finally an Original Show to be glued too...each week is better than the last!
23 October 2010
For those who've seen many of the other hit shows (I hate to mention it but Lost being one of them...)will be getting a fresh new concept in that this show is as contemporary as things can get...I myself am very intrigued in the way the underlying plot ties into real-world conspiracy and extraterrestrial questions. From the Pilot to every episode released each week the suspense and edge-of-your-seat tension continues to have you glued to the television set waiting for more to be answered. The continuity of the plot is masterful in what I can only describe is something like Christopher Nolan's movie Inception or how the movie Vantage Point cleverly sequenced each cut to finally reveal the truth. The flashbacks and snippets of each character are revealed more and more through brief yet significant cuts. The cast and acting is superb in my opinion. For those who go in wanting to see a more "Lost" like plot should stray away as this is a totally different genre. Too many viewers complain that the cuts are confusing and that they don't reveal enough but this show wouldn't be as original and intriguing if every flashback gave you 100% of what each character was about. Each flashback lasts about a minute or so and does just enough to provide you with another small piece of what The Event is all about without being so info-packed to confuse even the most close-minded viewers. Whats the point of watching the show if the creator gave you the beginning, middle, and end all at once? Don't just take my word for it, go and watch it yourself and see how each episode takes you on a thrill-ride that you wish will never end. I give The Event a 10 out of 10 so far...the best Sci-Fi/Conspiracy Theory show out today

Cloverfield (2008)
10/10
Short but sweet....expect a sequel and will be there for it.
18 January 2008
For fans of the genre, Cloverfield refines a not much ventured upon perspective in film making with a YouTube first-person style approach. Allowing the audience to almost experience a catastrophic and unexplainable event. It combines eyewitness documentary with sci-fi monster suspense without failing to deliver although brief, a deeper meaning of love, loss, friendship, and survival. The film gives the audience a realistic but fictional account of how the human psyche would react to the stresses of an extraordinary event while giving the viewers only as much information as acquired by the characters themselves. All this with the contemporary backdrop and the, "Hey I was invited to the party too?" immersion make Cloverfield a must see in its own right. *encore*
