Willow (2022)
I don't understand the hate!
I don't know if people were expecting a masterpiece or something but I found the series enjoyable. Is it cheesey? Yes, but so was the movie. Many of us Willow fans were kids when it came out. You have to watch the series with the eyes of the kid you were and think of this as a fun, family, fantasy series. The special effects aren't bad, better then the 80's for sure. Yes it's a little YA, but that's because they are trying to reach a new audience, a younger one, and I don't think there is anything wrong with that. Stop trying to take everything so seriously and just enjoy it for what it is. It's not supposed to be another Game of Thrones, which could work in it's favor considering the ending of that show.
Animaniacs (2020)
Disappointing but Not Terrible
As a huge fan of the 90's version, I have been waiting for this reboot forever! I really wanted to love it. Sadly, I don't. It's okay but it's lacking the zany madness from the original. It's lacking the additional zany characters from the original. It's PC, which the lack of in the original is what made it so darn funny. I'm not sure I've laughed once since I began this reboot. I'm not done with the season, so I'm still holding out that it'll get better and the songs will get memorable. So far, it's not a cartoon I will revisit like I have with the original.
The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)
Stop comparing the two!
I loved Hill House but it contains different gothic horror elements then Bly Manor. Hill House deals with mental illness, obsession, and addiction where Bly Manor is more about love. Because of these differences, the direction and tone are different. Bly brews slowly and is less manic then Hill House. You have to go into it with an open mind and place your expectations aside. It's a great story with a good pay off as long as you aren't expecting jump scares around every corner.
