Halo: Sanctuary (2024)
Sooooooo Slooooooooooow
Seriously. Great intro. Even though it was actually kind of slow too but it picked up and we got some great halo action. Then 50 some odd minutes of absolute garbage. Boring boring boring boring garbage. More forced politics and storylines I just don't care about. Get to Master Chief being a badass and fighting covenant. This show is such a disappointment. Honestly I got paramount for it years ago and kept it for the exceptional Star Trek content. But halo? Garbage. I can't say the game is boring. The show is. I am in the middle of the second episode still pretty bored. Writing this because I just don't care about this badly written show. Bad bad bad.
The Mandalorian: Chapter 17: The Apostate (2023)
Don't listen to the haters
What an amazing opening. A whole ton of people complaining that it makes no sense with grogu being back and didn't take the time to watch book of boba Fett. Omg a connected star wars universe between shows. Everyone lose their minds. They are building something similar to the MCU by connecting everything. It's planning for the long haul versus the mess that the sequels were. They are going to connect Rebels with Mandalorian and Mandalorian with Ashoka and probably Skeleton crew and so on and so on. It's an extended star wars universe. So if you don't want to take the time and watch rebels and clone wars then maybe this show isn't for you. The rest of us hardcore star wars fans are loving all this. A few people got into grogu who normally wouldn't care about star wars. Well the rest of us that is into every element can appreciate all the interconnected stories. The deep fake of letting us think this was the moment Mando puts his helmet on only to have him show up to save the day was brilliant. The Purgill. Omg. I can't wait to see Ezra Bridger be brought back with Thrawn. It's going to be amazing. But as a single episode it still stand well all on it's own.
Big Shot: It's Going to Be Okay (2022)
Actually brought tears to my eyes
This was fantastic writing. I lost my mom to cancer and it changes you. Hearing about coach losing his mom as a child really got me. Then after seeing that heartbreaking scene Emma sings that song and it was perfect. Eased the soul a little when we needed it. Then end the episode with their house being burned down. Ugh. Heartbreaking. While I enjoy the show part of me has always struggled with caring about a bunch of rich bratty kids and this episode really humanized everyone in a way that breaks the perception of class. In a natural disaster we are all the same and equal. Just human beings trying to survive.
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
Don't listen to haters. It's wonderful
The use of color. The humor is over the top but amazing. How in the holy hell did so many people give this bad reviews with kid Thors slaying shadow demons through the eyes of their stuffed toys. Amazing. Christian Bake gave a hauntingly amazing performance. The only thing I can complain about is there wasn't more Guardians of Galaxy. Marvel let Waititi do what he wanted and he ran with it. The fact that toxic crappy fans got Marvel to not hire Waititi for another film infuriates me. It's a wonderful film with great depth. Natalie Portman was wonderful and her death was truly felt. Russell Crowe was halarious. It's all around a good film.
Baymax! (2022)
Great fun
Don't listen to stupid right wingers. Must be scary for white cis right wing men. You are now the minority in the world. All of us normal people love that Disney is embracing representation of the LGBTQ+ community. So you want to boycott Disney and refuse to go to Disney land. Cool with us. Just means we won't have to deal with your cray cray stuff and the happiest place in earth is really the happiest place in earth without y'all.
As for an actual review of the show. It's adorable and exactly what baymax was created for. Love it.
Kubo and the Two Strings (2016)
For people that dont understand the ending
I love all of it and it's a masterpiece so I'm skipping the review and getting to the ending. For some reason people cant understand the ending. It deals with dimensia. The grandson, Kubo, is telling a story. While not true still tells a fantastic story, his grandfather cannot remember anything anymore. Dimensia. So the townsfolk remind him he is a kind man that helped everyone in the community. It's about remembering your past even though Kubo lost his because both his mother and father died while being raised by his memory stricken grandfather. It's about honoring your past. Just told through the eyes of an imaginative grandson.
Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)
Great Solo Origin Movie That Makes Me Excited For More
Honestly the negative nancies that disliked this film are just no fun. It was fun. Pure and simple. It connected characters well. Just great action. Great graphics. Great storytelling. The cliffhanger at the end made me excited for more. I seriously hope they do another one and an Obi Wan one and plenty of Yoda ones. I have heard rumors that they are stopping production for those because of this one not doing g well at the box office. Honestly I hope Disney doesn't listen fanboys that want to ruin an opportunity to explore more of the Star Wars lore. I mean who doesn't want a samurai based Yoda Backstory?
