Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024)
ONLY FOR DIEHARD FANS
I found that there was too much talking in the movie with only intermediary action sequences in-between, The movie only really kicks off in the action sequences towards the end of the movie.
There is also an (almost) lesbian kiss" between Melody and Phoebe. The finale was somewhat predictable.
William Atherton was not convincing as the obnoxious mayor and his switch towards the end was somewhat inexplicable and equally unconvincing. Overall I almost slept through the first part of the movie only to stay alert for the predictable finale.
Overall although this reunites the original cast of the first movie, their contribution was somewhat negligible IMHO. Truly just for the diehard fans of the movie franchise.
The Courier (2019)
The Transporter it is NOT
Unfortunately, this tries very hard (but fails) to be a TRANSPORTER. Don't get me wrong.I love Olga Kurlyenko and Gary Oldman but the storyline is paperthin. Is it me but does anybody notice that almost ALL movies tend to have at least ONE English character. In this movie, the witness' job is merely to being as obnoxious as possible. Expletives abound but after a while it does get to be kind of tedious. I can only recall one scene - obviously created for the comedic effect but it just fell flat (pardon the pun). There is absolutely no chemistry between Olga and the witness and poor Gary Oldman. What dragged him to do this movie? He is a much-talented actor. The storyline - just because ONE witness saw him kill another baddie - his whole cartel comes crumbling down? Olga and Gary's talents wasted.
Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
Good movie - had high expectations (may contain spoilers)
Well, went in to see this movie with high expectations amidst all the hype. Was not disappointed except the the actors delivering the one- liners and humour (quite a lot) looked as if they were trying too hard. Some somewhat predictable. The SFX, well it was okay although some looked very very obvious that they were green/blue screen. What happened? Too obvious to miss (Odin family sea/ocean scene) and a few others. Quite distracting. Still had to get used to a very verbally- active Hulk.
Overall though, the plot line and movie was an eclectic mix of good humour and acting all-round. Looking forward to the next great instalment in the MCU.
