La Brea (2021)
Stinkhole
Started watching the first season & found it mildly entertaining. The second season not as much. It's become overly dramatic. The acting is mediocre at best. Pretty typical for the vast majority of prime time shows. Not really sure why it's renewed for a third season. Maybe old Lost fans are desperate for a mystery wrapped in an enigma show but this is definitely not that show. They could have at least tried to be accurate with the storyline. The special effects are circa 1990's. If you ever saw Days of Our Lives when Marlana gets possessed, that was more believable than LA Brea. Wouldn't waste my time. Sorry I did.
The Requin (2022)
Shockingly bad
When you find yourself routing for the sharks you know the characters have no redeeming qualities.
The leads managed to do everything wrong. It was almost as if they wanted to die.
Storm coming take a nap. Drifting on a broken bungalow that's keeping you out of the water & away from sharks, set it on fire. Floating on a piece of wood, take a nap. Wash up on a beach, you need to get out of the surf, instead take a nap.
Now you're back in the water running from sharks. Find a guy in a boat, swim to him, get in, take a nap.
As for the ending, who knows what happened. She sees people & land but suddenly doesn't remember how to scream help after doing it the entire time when no one could hear her.
Movies like this make you wonder if anyone previews the dailies. Silverstone really managed to find a dud.
The Terminal List (2022)
Phenomenal
I'm a big Chris Pratt fan, so of course I watch any movie he's in. This is one of his best acting endeavors. Love the patriotism aspect. Good guy does whatever it takes to expose the bad guys. Refreshing & entertaining series. Really hope they'll be a sequel.
Nightmare Alley (2021)
Great film
Excellent acting, script & cinematography. Dark, but engaging. Storyline wasn't at all predictable which is a must for me. The ending couldn't have been a more perfect fit.
Breach (2020)
Bruce Willis must have needed the money 🤦♀️
This was shockingly bad. No character development at all. Only watched because Bruce Willis was in it. He just phoned it in. Didnt recognize any of the other actors. The acting wasn't even B level. Doubt you'll see any of them in a quality move. It was painful to watch.
Don't recommend wasting any time on this dud.
Call Me Kat (2021)
So disappointed
I was excited to hear Mayim Bialik was going to be in a new series. A series about cats, what could go wrong? Apparently everything. She talks to the audience which is done awkwardly. The encore style ending are is just weird. The acting is fine, I just wish the script was more interesting or at least a little funny. I usually give a show some time to find it's groove, but it's almost the end of this season and this show has not found it's groove.
Underwater (2020)
Disappointed
Was hoping to have a Titanic style backstory leading up to the action. Instead they just dive, pun intended, right into massively disjointed fast paced chaos. It was difficult to differentiate what was exploding & collapsing. There's no view of the underwater structure that gives you an idea of it's shape or size. Why are they even there? They appear to be drilling, but neglect to tell you for what. Many gaps in the story. Acting isn't bad. Stewart never smiles which isn't any different than most of the characters she portrays. Wish I hadn't wasted the $5.99 to rent this movie. The lack of any explanation for the company being seven miles deep, along with no attempt to make you care about the characters, leaves you feeling more sympathetic to the creature than it's victims.
Life of the Party (2018)
Don't waste your time
Nothing funny here. Formulaic and predictable. Really disappointed that McCarthy and her husband collaborated on this unforgettable film. They're both so much better than this.
A Perfect Christmas List (2014)
Skip it
It's a toss up between which is worse, the acting, the script or the background music.
Rough Night (2017)
Shockingly bad
How could a Scarlett Johannson movie be bad I thought. Well because it's Rough Night. I found absolutely nothing entertaining about this movie. Not funny, not smart, not interesting, just not. I kept waiting for it to get somewhere. The only place it got to was even less entertaining. This vacuous group of women managed to display an unmeasurable level of bad behavoir and not one redeemable quality. If I could give it zero stars, I would. Please do not waste your time on this movie. I wish I hadn't.
