Kimetsu no Yaiba: Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji (2023)
Feels like Toei made this season
Not that we aren't getting some great moments here and there, but man are they dragging this out. The stakes don't feel that high either which doesn't help. Definitely the weakest season so far with the blandest antagonists.
Im left wondering if this is more of a setup season so Tanjiro can get his sword fixed because clearly the ones who're here to shine this time around are the Hashira. That's not a bad thing but I feel there are too many flashbacks between the climactic battle that cheapen the fights. Not to mention the Love Hashiras backstory was really bleh and I feel like they could've done something much more interesting for her like they did the Mist one.
All in all, I hope the second half of this season is much better (I'm assuming we're getting another 12 or so episodes?). Really want it to finish strong!
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law: A Normal Amount of Rage (2022)
Great start! (minus the "anger management" bit)
Really promising start. Not all of the jokes land but the ones that do are pretty funny. The chemistry between Bruce and his cousin was really good and felt believable. The cgi looks much better in the actual show as opposed to the trailers (although She Hulks hair looks really weird sometimes). I can't really say anything about the story considering this was basically a prologue to the series. Overall I'd say it was a really fun watch. It did however have some minor pacing issues and I found some of the song choices cringe, but they don't ruin the episode for me. The biggest complaint I have was the whole "anger management" exchange between Bruce and her. It felt so forced and out of place that it took me out of the show. I get what they were trying to do(and she acted it great) but the writer wrote it in such a simplistic way. There's better ways of doing those sorts of things rather than just blatantly spelling it out for the audience. Also I think men and women both deal with different obstacles in life and it's unfair to compare the severity of them and make it seem as if one gender deals with more than another. I don't feel it really added anything to the show either. But it's just a minor nitpick and nothing to lose my mind over.
Solid 7/10 imo.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: Part IV (2022)
With only two episodes left, I can now say the MAJORITY of this show is bad
Welp. All of the theories of why Vader didn't walk through the fire or force pull him at the end of episode 3 went out the window. Obi-Wan hides Leia under a FREAKIN TRENCH COAT walking past not only hundreds of storm troopers and officers, but TWO inquisitors. At the end of the episode, Vader never would've said the cliche line of "it seems I've underestimated you". He would've cut her hand or thrown he against the wall or something. Vader does not just 180 from being in a huge rage to becoming docile that quickly. Yet another example of poor writing and understanding of characters. Also apparently Leia now knows Bens true name is Obi-Wan as stated by Reva in that awkward interrogation scene. This directly conflicts A New Hope. With only two episodes my optimism is out the window, I've lost hope in Chow, and please keep Joby Harold away from Star Wars.
We need to make our voices heard so they know that this caliber of sheer laziness we're seeing in Kenobi (and got glimpses of In Boba) are not okay and we hold a higher bar for them and the content the make.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: Part III (2022)
bad direction
This episode was great up until the Obi-Wan vs Vader fight. The direction of this was atrocious and felt like a fan film I'd see on YouTube. Up until this point I actually thought Chow was doing okay but this was a huge letdown for the pt 1 of the "rematch of the century". Young Leia is much better (acting wise) in this episode along with Reva. No 3rd Leia chase scene is a win in my book.
I really don't understand how something so important like an Kenobi show featuring a returning Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen returning after 20 years could be done so lazily!
Obi-Wan Kenobi: Part II (2022)
What is this writing???
This is the second episode in a row where there is a Leia chase scene that makes no sense. The dialogue feels very cheesy and Reva is not intimidating at all. They change out of their disguises just to go and buy another disguise. Reva does backflips and parkour for half of her time on screen. Her acting is just not on par with everyone else's performance (minus kid Leia). Reva seems like the least interesting one out of all the inquisitors we've seen. The interactions between Obi-Wan and Leia feel very forced playful and cliche. For example, the cliche "Ever since I met you crazy things have happened" line. I really expected more for a show of this importance. They gave it off to some guy who writes flashy action movies that have no emphasis on dialogue or story. Really hope it improves later on in the show.
Shingeki no Kyojin: Thaw (2022)
Another great episode for an amazing season 🔥
This was more of a breather episode but it was still fantastic. They're planting the seeds of conflict for future episodes. The music was amazing and gave me some earlier season vibes seeing them all beat the Titans together. We also get a great moment for Jean as he takes control and leads a lot of the scouts during the attack. Can't wait for the rest of this season!
The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 7: In the Name of Honor (2022)
A Lackluster Ending to a Disappointing Season
All of the action was generic. They spent half the episode shooting at the enemy's shields. They killed of Bane in the most underwhelming way. Marvel jokes that didn't land and felt out of place. Honestly, I just think Robert Rodriguez is not a good fit for Star Wars. I really hope this show gets a second season so they can do Boba justice.
How I Met Your Father (2022)
Give this show a chance before throwing a 1 star at it
It took How I Met Your Mother a couple episodes to find it's stride as well. You can't expect it to be as good as that right off the bat. Give it a few eps before throwing a 1 star at it.
Cowboy Bebop (2021)
This isn't a 1:1 copy of the anime. And that's okay!!
From the few episodes I've watched. It's done a great job at adapting the story to live action. Yes it's a little campy but im actually enjoying it. Just try to keep an open mind and remember that it's not trying to be a carbon copy of the original. It wants to be its own story. And from what I've seen so far, I'm definitely interested to see what they do with the rest of the season!
Boruto: Naruto Next Generations: Aibô (2021)
Emotional Rollercoaster
This episode was simply incredible. That action was good, the animation was great, and it was one of the most emotional episodes of all Naruto/Boruto. That outro almost got me, not gonna lie 😪
Naruto: Shippûden: Daijûppan (2008)
This episode is a work of art
Everything about this episode was perfect. The cinematography of it was stunning. It was very emotional when it needed to be. I love that they poured a lot of their budget into a more dialogue based episode rather than a fight or something like that.
Boruto: Naruto Next Generations: Saishû kessen, Urashiki (2019)
Bruh what is this animation
Some of the laziest stuff I've seen in a while, I'm honestly a little bummed that this is what they give us for the end of an okay arc.
Boruto: Naruto Next Generations: Deshiiri (2021)
Great episode with some Shippuden vibes!!
So happy to finally see this show become better after so long!
Boruto: Naruto Next Generations: Bakemon (2021)
Just Average when it could've been Amazing.
Where was that godly animation for Kawakis entrance?? The whole pacing of the episode was all over the place as well. I was hyped all week and now based on the preview for next week it's the same mid level animation. Rip to the old shippuden fights.
Boku no hîrô akademia: Infinite 100% (2020)
INCREDIBLEEEEEEEEE🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This season has been INSANE SO FAR!!! DEKU GOES FULL SAIYAN!!!
