Barbie (2023)
Barbie is everything & bring on Kenergy
I don't think I've been this excited about a movie in a long while.
It was somewhat different than what I was expecting, but in some fantastic ways. Margot Robbie was a fantastic choice as Barbie. She shines, she makes you fall in LOVE with Barbie again, effervescent in every moment, she fully enveloped how a lot of us remember playing with Barbie, and what we thought and hoped for when we grew up.
America Ferrera - fantastic. She brought me to tears
Ryan Gosling was a scene stealer! His Kenergy was phenomenal - in a movie where he was literally "and Ken"
Greta Gerwig truly brought the entire Barbieland to life.
I laughed, I cried , I ugly cried and I'm still revisiting every moment.
The Menu (2022)
Meh-nu
It was pretty bland.
Well acted, everyone in it played their part well. But every character had very shallow character building. There's really nothing below skin deep.
I was concerned we were going to veer into cannibalism plots, but was grateful it didn't go that way
I didn't give a crao about a single one of the characters.
Sure, she gets her cheeseburger in the end, but its not really a defining moment for me.
The funniest line is the Brown/student loan convo and its the only live peope are posting and talking about.
Glass Onion was a far better character driven movie . I even watched a review of the menu, and even then, the guy was making big stretches to expand the movie and its characters to a dull 11 minute yt review.
Velma (2023)
Velma Velma Velma
Wowee, the hate on this show is something else. I thought it was a fun interesting twist on ScoobyDoo
Do I love everything? No.
I keep waiting to see the gang back together. I want to see Scoobs, Shaggy, Velma, Daphne and Fred riding around. Mindy Kaling hate is out of control online right now, which I think is in direct proportion to what they did to Fred's character and I hope his arc gets better
The shower scenes are somewhat pornish and very unexpected. This isn't a kids cartoon.
I don't think it deserves the hate its getting at the moment. I look forward to seeing where its going in the meantime.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022)
Shulkie for the win!
This has became one of my top 2 favourite Disney+ shows. WandaVision being the other (it set the bar SO HIGH)
She-Hulk is fun, true to her origins exciting and engaging. Don't listen to the sad men who don't like that this show isn't explicitly catering to them and what they think a female superhero should be like.
Redditors and incels don't like how they're being depicted on the show through intelligencia? Maybe you shouldn't act like that IRL.
Jameela Jamil has been a fabulous rival.
And now DAREDEVIL/SHULKIE. Romance? Yes please.
Cannot wait for the finale and I really hope there's a season 2. Tatiana FTW! SHE-HULK SMASH.
My Name Is Earl (2005)
Oh Earl....
Seasons 1 & 2 are great. Earl did bad stuff, wackiness ensues , Earl makes up for it and learns lesson.
When it came to touchy subjects, ie Kenny earl's homosexual friend, the joke was always on Earl. It wasn't mean spirited. Even Joy was sympathetic.
And then came season 3.
I know, i know earl went to jail he had to adjust. But everyone around him either becomes ridiculously dumb or just overly mean spirited.
They completely forgot entire storylines like Randy and Catalinas green card marriage. Acting like characters had never met before, etc...
Darnell is a shell of himself and where to begin with Billie's character....
I hated this season, i still have the last episode to save it, and on to season 4 which I'm not sure im excited about.
When this show was on air it was around season 3 i stopped watching , but i had forgotten why, and now i remember.
Kevin Can F**k Himself (2021)
Annie and Molly are fantastic
There's a lot of reviews by people who obviously aren't understanding the concept of the show
A little jarring to be sure in the first episode, but once you pay attention to the story and realise the story isn't about Kevin, its about Allison, you'll be better for it
Annie Murphy and Mary Hollis are dynamic pairing and I cant wait for the next season.
The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window (2022)
Intriguing
It took a while for me to really get invested, But around episode 4 I really got into it.
A slow burn to start, but i didnt see the ending coming, likely cos I was distracted by all the satirical elements.
Surreal at times, a good story.
The Stand In (2020)
Comedy? Thriller? Mystery? What?
I have no idea what this movie was supposed to be. I assumed a comedy from the trailers, but it takes a dark turn really quickly. Neither of the main characters are likable- a feat I thought would be impossible for Barrymore.
I think 4 stars is generous tbh.
Soapdish (1991)
Oooooof
First off, the cast is stellar, it's a funny satire
But...
This movie has not aged well. The twist at the end is horribly transphobic
Ted Lasso (2020)
Delightful
I can't find anything bad to say. I really thought I was going to be disappointed by a tired old trope. I was pleasantly surprised, the acting is great, all of the main characters have layers. It had me laughing and crying and cheering. I want everyone to succeed and I never want this joyous ride to end

Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020)
Margot Robbie is dynamite
This was a fun movie. It gets a lot of hate from men because Harley doesn't play their fantasy in this. Yes, some of it is pure cheese, but Margot Robbie pulls it off with gusto
Jurnee Smollett as Black Canary is on point, Rosie Perez is great as always
Yeah, the plot is flimsy at points. The villain could be better fleshed out ... but those are common comicbook movie complaints
