Nihon Chinbotsu 2020 (2020)
A Simple Summary
Well im gonna throw what i think randomly here, i dont feel like creating a neat narrative at the moment.
Episode one is great, it instantly pulled me in to the world.
Episode three up to the Shan arc felt a bit stupid; although i know exactly the purposes it serves, etc.
Many questionable/silly or unimportant stuffs/too illogical or farfetched stuff; idk if those are plot holes or simply because somethings are lost in the adaptation from the novel.
Quite predictable writings; although they still retain the mysteries well with the disasters and plot advancement, to the point the plot still held the viewers curiosity.
Plot advances fast; death are just death, no matter whom it is. Although this point sometimes kill the plot/weaken it. I mean, sometimes more emotional or longer approach to this part would be nice too.
Some frame are so bad to the point i thought, "who the f is this", because it have even changed the face structure, not just the expressions.
A character (yes, im talking about you) is serves as the plot hero, said in a certain someone terms. I mean its okay, but well.
Characters development surely are present ... but not too strong to the point it can affect me as well.
The last episode ties some things nicely.
Conclusion, it's still interesting enough. Thanks~
Jexi (2019)
Im quite a mess atm
So i'll be frank. when the movie end i kinda felt the time i spent is wasted. I wasted lot of my times but if im intended to do so then it is not wasted. This movie is felt like a bad waste of time because i literally gave up a portion of my time for it spesifically. Though thankfully this portion of my time atm is not that important too cause i was kinda messed up and need to relax abit before i work, so yeah.
But thankfully (again) its not that bad, because im not angry or atleast annoyed, which usually happen if the movie is that bad.
Then after i think it a little bit more, which i didnt intend to at first (and this indicate that the movie still in my good side somewhat), i can decide that this movie is somewhat good.
Sometimes simplicity is the best, rite? This movie is like that.
I can get the message "to live your life to the fullest" or "dont think about things too much" etc which is somehow hit me close to home atm.
Which is why im kinda worried atm that my mind gonna get abit weird because of this; or that this is what i have to see forst for decisions i gotta take in nearby time.
Well, you see, thats the kinda person i am.
So yeah aside the simplicity, the plot is quite interesting to follow through although there is nothing special/twist and predictable.
The jokes well, its funny but just like "heh, funny" kind. The other things, profanity and adult jokes everywhere.
So yeah, give it a go if you have spare time.
Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008)
I Am Being A Logical Fangirl Here, Alright?
Again, just a short one.
I guess at first this became one of my favorite classic because of the royalty villain. Heck, i might be biased writing this because of that, but believe me i still aiming to be as logical as it is here.
So well, sure this movie isn't that deep. But it's worked as one of it charms too. The movie flow and felt so natural. It's just like, well that's how life went isn't it? Not all things went so grand or so that important; it's just, life. It's just it is. That's another reason of why i like this movie.
Also, about how each characters "humane" side being showed too, and the portrayal of their dynamics to each other.
The part where Nuada challenges the King left thoughts to me. Mainly about, sometimes nothing is really wrong or right. Somethings are really hard to define by us human, sometimes; and etc, etc, etc. I'll end it here because im tired atm.
So ya that's it. Aside the hard stuff, well, Nuada fight scenes are really interesting to watch. Hehe.
No Escape (2015)
Tension, checked.
Just a short one.
The plot is quite interesting, and the suspense can easily be felt. I can felt the tense the whole time I was watching.
Although it's getting kinda silly to see the same pursuer over and over again, as the movie goes. Sure, I understand the point of it, so in the end when they finally face them off again the viewer get this whole relieved state.
But yeah, I'm not gonna breakdown the whole thing atm. So I'm just gonna say its quite a nice suspense movie. Its my personal timing fault though, but some uneasiness left lingering in my mind. It is about how man can be so cruel at times; and in numbers, doubling the chaos.
Crimson Peak (2015)
Absolute Visual Treats
The first time i seen this movie, i didnt like it that much. I find the story ... good but kind of awkward; in the pacing, the love plot, etc. Though, the ghastly image of the red skeletons lingers very strongly. Not that it was traumatic (maybe, in a sense), but it was a very strong imagery; and unique.
Oh, back then i decide to watch this in theater because of Mia and the movie setting. Also, the mystery i think.
Years later this movie played at the cable, hence i rewatch it. I find the story more, charming now; and the awkwardness in the love plot more justified.
Tldr; i quite like the story, though not so much. Its a very scary one too, aside the ghost. I absolutely love the setting and wardrobes !
Dumplin' (2018)
Ookay its fun but ....
Yes, aggree its a heartwarming movie. Its fun. The cinematography are good, but not excellent. The songs are nice. The ... plot are kind of fun to follow too.
But yeah, its so packed w/ nowadays issue and you started feel suffocated at the middle of the movie. Its just become kind of unnatural for the movie to have, very variative characters in one plot. Thats why like other says, its like being shoved down your throat.
Well, its a freedom of the artist so watch it. Just bear in mind that you dont have to aggree on everything this move says to you. Take the good, leave the bad.
Æon Flux (2005)
This is just a simple review bcs i wrote it at almost dawn.
I dont know why this was received badly. Well maybe if u are a fan of the original animated series you would hate it ? But its pretty fun and decent to watch if you are not.
Depth ? Some say there is no depth in the story but mm, i guess the plot is quite complicated enough. Maybe from character BG there isnt much aside the core character.
But ye, its nice. The set they use and the cinematography is good, and entertaining.
Interview with a Hitman (2012)
Good storytelling, worth it. Although the twist is either works or nah.
I didnt watch from the beginning yet, hence i missed the renown 10 minutes of silences part. Although, the first 15 min i catch this film is already made me curious enough to continue.
Then i look at the title "oh i heard this one a good movie" and carry on watching till the end.
I like the storytelling. It does makes one think as the reviews say. I got alot of thoughts too, on how the mafia world works, on how person like viktor could succeed, on how killing isnt as glorified like it is in averange spy/hitman movie.
This movie is so realistic it made one thinks. It made you thinks about all sort of characters that appeared. But the irony is that even though "a kill" is just a kill, unlike in general movie that "killing a bad guy made the hero hero", it does still felt....abit glorified. But, naturally i guess, since we all rooted for viktor.
Now even though this movie seems perfect, there are obvious thing that either make it works or just simply made it downhill.
It works for others, but for me its the later.
Yes i am talking about bethesda.
The ending isnt completely predictable true, i also kinda missed it. I thought she was just gonna end her revenge on the man and using viktor for that purpose only.
But when she finally show her intention, it just kind of far fetched. To be the only mastermind, to finally be the conqueror of the untouchable viktor.
I mean yeah, it justifies her action. She is been living in hell all this time, not like its hard for her. But this movie rely on the realistic aspect, so she being the only mastermind isnt realistic. You need more than that to deceive your target, and to arrange all the parts to turn like you wanted.
Not to mention if she decide to do this because of the unexpected reunion with viktor gave her thoughts or since the beginning ? If the answer is since the beginning, then it just goes downhill more.
so yeah. It does get a nice ring to it, to destroy a man whom succeed by destroying your life. But like i said, its kinda jump from realistic movie genre into fictional genre.
Duh i know THIS ia fictional story, but you get what i mean right ? Its like....james bond suddenly becoming mission impossible in the last part of the movie.
So ya, despite that i still like the storytelling. Its not a bad movie to watch, would still reccommend it.
I especially like the potrayal of viktor turning from a kill machine into human. The explicit part of when he decide to be with the girl. Its explicit but the get the point across, not just a badly put sex scene just because its an adult movie.
Last about the ending. It doesnt completely catch me off guard because why ? The part of them looking at each other as a kid, already give it away. I remember thinking at one point on the movie, "lol i guess the girl from before is viktor's soulmate. And then she's gonna get revenge", and that, although not in the way i expect, is the whole story for the last part.
