Cash Out (2024)
3/10
Not Quite a Heist with Style
26 April 2024
Cash Out tries to charm its way through the well-worn heist film genre, but stumbles on uneven execution. John Travolta delivers a charismatic performance as Mason, a seasoned thief attempting a complex score. The heist itself is decently staged, but the plot relies on a predictable twist and underdeveloped characters.

While there are some fun moments, particularly the banter between Travolta and his team, the shaky camerawork and forgettable action sequences hold the film back. The biggest missed opportunity lies in the supporting cast. Actors like Kristin Davis and Lukas Haas are wasted in roles that lack depth.

Cash Out isn't a complete wash. Travolta's performance is engaging, and there's enough action to keep things mildly thrilling. But for a truly satisfying heist experience, you're better off looking elsewhere.

Asphalt City (2023)

Fine and engaging
21 April 2024
Asphalt City is a gritty paramedic drama that throws you into the underbelly of New York City. It's bleak and doesn't shy away from the tough realities of the job. While some find the relentless negativity exhausting, strong performances by Tye Sheridan and Sean Penn keep you engaged. If you're looking for a feel-good movie, this isn't it, but if you want a thought-provoking look at the dark side of urban life, Asphalt City is worth checking out.

One other thing to mention is the performance of Mike Tyson. It's truly bad. I mean if the guy ain't throwing punches there's no good reason to cast this guy. An actor he is not.

Saltburn (2023)
1/10
the time u wish a time machine was a thing. to erase awful minutes

Saltburn: A Brutal Bath in Blandness (1 out of 10) Saltburn aspires to be shocking and transgressive, but ultimately ends up being a confusing mess that leaves you feeling like you need a decontamination shower. The plot is a convoluted slog, following a dull outsider named Oliver who inserts himself into a wealthy, eccentric family. Instead of exploring class or desire in any meaningful way, the film throws grotesquerie at the screen, hoping to stun you into submission.

Prepare to be Bored by Edgy

The characters are a collection of unlikeable stereotypes: the aloof rich family, the pathetic wannabe, and everyone else dripping with enough cynicism to fill an oil tanker. Their dialogue is a series of forced provocations that feel like the screenwriter trying too hard to be edgy.

Shock Value Isn't Storytelling

The film relies heavily on violence and disturbing imagery, but it all feels empty. It's like a teenager trying to get a rise out of their parents with increasingly vulgar language. There's no tension, no payoff, just a sense of desperate shock value that wears thin fast.

A Flat Ending to a Flat Experience

The nonsensical ending is the final nail in the coffin. It doesn't tie up any loose ends, doesn't offer any commentary, and leaves you feeling like you wasted valuable time.

Avoid This Cinematic Salt Lick

Saltburn is a film to actively avoid. It's a confusing mess with unpleasant characters, a nonsensical plot, and a desperate reliance on empty shock tactics. There are countless other films out there that will challenge you, entertain you, or even disturb you in a way that feels meaningful. Don't waste your time on this cinematic salt lick.

Just watch it

First off this is not a black mirror kind of thing. It is more about human feelings as a person. The actors do an amazing job and writing is well done although can be dramatic and theatrics some times but i guess it has to be since its basically a monologue.

Im guessing the average reviewer is some what of a young developing mind who thinks "omg what a BM ripoff" it is not the case.

Parasyte RIP off
1 December 2018
They took the graphics and pasted them onto a Japanese classic. Parasyte was a great anime tv show. and they just made it cheesy with no real connection to venom origins. i think the biggest disappointment was seeing stan lee in it as well as in the credits... how could he let this happen. very disappointing.

how come no one in the reviews is saying this...
