Billions: Admirals Fund (2023)
Frustrating.
Mike Prince could easily prove sabotage and regain his fortune later on. He loses most of his fortune while being phone free at Camp David? Come on! He was liquidating his assets but sells his final Stocks while a investigation led by Chuck Rhoads causes stocks to tank, then magically the investigation is over with the same day?!?! I know it was done that way bc it's tv and it needed to be shown to tie up some loose ends, but come on?
And how is Axe even in the US? Didn't he flee to avoid arrest, but now he can walk nyc worry free? How many times can Chuck Rhoads start criminal charges and then take them away?
Law & Order: Legacy (2022)
Unrealistic verdict
The prosecution was gonna give immunity to a kid who brought a gun to school and killed the teacher, and who also stabbed a teacher in the arm in a separate incident all in favor to convict the father for telling him to stand up for himself. The prosecution even admitted the kid was unstable and had mental issues and was the victim of bullying.
Also, McCoy was acting like his DAs strategy was unheard of even though he himself had done it multiple times when he was a DA.
And the whole use of the N-word in a song as a good excuse to expel kids from a school is nonsense. It's a detention, nothing more. And Anthony Anderson's character using "it's complicated" about the N-word being in songs and only Black people allowed to sing it out loud is just hypocritical when the correct answer should be that the word shouldn't be used at all.
Watchmen (2019)
Really gets good in later episodes.
Once it establishes all the backstory it really gets good. I've never read the comics, but enjoyed the movie. This takes place after the events in the movie, the only difference is the show (and comic) has a giant squid instead of a huge explosion like in the movie. The flashback scenes really grab your attention. Check out the show, you'll like it.
Son in Law (1993)
Pauly Shore at his best
If you were 10-20 something when this film came out (1993), Pauly Shore was dominating MTV and putting out a handful of movies. This is one of his best. The Weasel character was funny, strange and entertaining and watching this movie still makes me laugh 25 years later.
Backstrom (2015)
Need to watch a few episodes before an opinion.
I don't normally give any new television shows a shot. There's just too many channels and too many shows and only so much room on my DVR LOL. A pilot episode is too small a sample to determine if you're going to watch a show ever again. In the first episode the show was kind of boring the first half and then got better the second half. The second episode was better, more time to establish characters. I set the show to record the entire season on my DVR and so far I'm going to keep watching. Rain Wilson is enjoyable and anything he does and I'm going to give his first lead role on TV a thorough chance. I anxiously await Dennis Hayebart to make some kind of reference to his car insurance commercials.
29th Street (1991)
Great Film
I saw this on video at a friends house a few years ago and have since seen it another 7 times. Anthony LaPaglia plays the lead role well and Danny Aiello is the man. The movie is based on a true story and the real life person that LaPaglia plays is in the movie as the main characters older brother. Tony Sirico (Pauly Walnuts) of Sapronos fame is in this film as what else? A mobster. Every time I see my friend who introduced me to this film, I yell "Im not a loser" as well as other quotes from this movie. Good thing it is now available on DVD.Its a must see family film. If you have an extensive DVD collection like I do, this is a must have.
