The Cottage (2008)
Funny, gory perfect.
This film, is by far a genius in the making. It mixes dark humour with bloody deaths.
I liked this film a lot, made me laugh- I'm sure in places where I wasn't meant to be laughing, totally belly laughs.
Great film.
The character of Tracy classic!!! Well scripted and acted.
I mean come on , this film might not win any awards but damn, if you have a slight sick sense of humour then this film is for you.
In all classic slasher movies, this is probably the most funniest of them all.
Tristan + Isolde (2006)
beautifully scripted and wonderfully acted.
I had no idea what type of film this was going to be.. I've seen the bill boards on bus's etc... so i decided to watch it...
I was very very surprised, its a story of more than one love.. the love of a father figure, the love of the country and the love of your life... Wow apart from that the acting is very good, the plot keeps a person watching.... Also the shot location of the film is nice, ahhh beautiful locations for the film... This film is more than a love story... its like a cross between knights tail and robin hood but far more realistic...
Great film.
Brokeback Mountain (2005)
Amazing!
Wow I've just seen this movie today, after a long day doing a first aid course. I knew all the hype surrounding this movie, and yes i went cause i wanted to see male on male action lol... ( i wasn't disappointed !!!).
WOW- this film is a truly master in my eyes. I've given it a star rating of 9, purely because it was a bit too slow going.
The acting was totally incredible, the characters soo believable. I am an open minded individual, but it made even me think about how hard it is for ppl in 2006 to be out and gay, or out and bi. In todays society its almost a done thing, ppl coming out and no one really cares. People are more tolerant. Go back 30 or 40 years and boy it must've been soo hard.
This film is a work of art, it made me laugh, it made me cry.. AND BOY DID IT MADE ME CRY. I'm a sucker for romance films!.
Please go and see this film, its also about education of the individual. Heath ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal, played such thought provoking and enjoyable characters. Ang Lee wow he really is an amazing director. I want to buy the book, want to see this movie again. This for me is an instant hit and an all time classic. There is not that many films that I'm truly taken back! and this is one of the really rare films. Both actors deserve the Oscar for this performance.
Well done to all the people who helped bring this to our screens and into out hearts. I thank you.
Gia (1998)
Sad tale of stardom
This film was based on the supermodel Gia who sadly died in the 80's of an AIDS related illness. This film portrayed her life and sad death. When it comes to real life movies, especially when its about a terminal illness the truth of the subject hits home.
I remember a little bit about this woman, but sadly not to much. She was the first woman to die of an AIDS defining illness in the united states. The leading actress was in the form of Angelina Jolie, and Scott Cohen stars in this film for about 10 minutes and there's one scene where he's but naked!! This film although not brilliantly acted, hit home that a young woman aged 26 died of an illness that is still killing people today. Long live her memory in the ppl that really knew her and loved her so well.
Gia January 1960 - Nov 18 1986.
Kissing Jessica Stein (2001)
Sweet good feeling story of love.
I watched this film, for one reason only to see the handsome actor Scott Cohen in it. I was in fact take aback, this film is really very good. The shots of new york are brilliant, the acting was rather good. Some parts of the character of Jessica reminded myself of me!.
I enjoyed it so much that I'm thinking about buying it so i can watch it at a later date. I might add thought that it Scott's acting was really good in it. He pulled very similar character facial expressions as his earlier outing as Wolf in the tenth kingdom.
For all you romantic's out there, this film should be added to your list why i hear you ask! cause sometimes love comes in different forms. Always remember though, love is important for everyone to grow!!! GOOD FILM !
The 10th Kingdom (2000)
Fantastic! gripping, love story and fable into one.!
I really enjoyed watching this mini series. Its a love story, its about finding oneself and liking who u are. It's also about a fairy tale and fable rolled into one.
At times it reminded me only loosely of Hercules- the legendary journeys, Virginia, her father, wolf and prince go on an amazing journey of discovery, truth, trust and love!!!
From start to finish it had me gripped, the main characters are lovely and the acting is very good. For a mini series the budget seemed to suit the script.
I was surprised to realise that the majority of actors are in fact English actors and most of the outside broadcast was shot in many European countries. The studio set was filmed in pine wood studios. Given that i don't know why it was an American company that sealed its fate, and not a British TV station.
Nochnoy dozor (2004)
night watch.
Well after just returning from the cinema to watch this film i come away thinking wow! its a good film. I wasn't put of with the fact that its in Russian. The subtitles was presented in a very clear way, the story line was very good. I cant wait for the next film. Anyone got an idea when its due out then?.
For an opener of an epic film it sets the scene, tells the story from the start. If however you don't like long stories, then please don't go and see it, if you want a sweet happy ending, or a "girly" film don't go there. This is a gritty, interesting story.
Its a very good story, and its different story about the shape shifters, witches, vampires and humans. VERY GOOD FILM.
