Ugetsu monogatari (1953)
two stupid men
This movie is about two men. One is a person who would like to be a rich man, and he thinks not his family but earning money. The other is a person who would like to be promoted as a wonderful samurai. He also does not think about his family. My impression of this movie is that two men are stupid. When the man who would like to be a rich man guards an iron that bakes pottery, I feel scary. He priors his earning money to his life. I also feel scary because of a gap between his serious figure and his stupid thought. The other man thinks about only his prompt, so his wife becomes prostitute. I can understand his regret and her suffering through their conversation, voice, and expressions. I was very touched with the scene that the died first man's wife talks her family about her ideal of a family. I do not like this movie little because women are abused. I think it was natural-in the period, but I do not feel well. However, I like the ending since the two men change their mind and thought, so this movie ends happily.
Money Monster (2016)
money changes nature
This movie is about a man who is a host of an economic TV show. One day, stock price falls sharply, and a man who lose his all fortune takes him as a hostage. I feel little funny when the host compares the host's misery with the man's misery to calm down the man. The host says that you have only a child, but I have married three times, so I have to pay compensation money. I just think he says a joke. I also cannot imagine the host cooperates the man's revenge to the company that make the stock price low. I cannot believe it because I cannot cooperate with the person who point a gun at me. The man also puts a gun on the table, so the host can snatches it, if he tries it. I do not like this movie because I cannot feel tense in spit of the suspense movie. I would like the host to persuade the man more intelligently. I also cannot imagine the ending and I think it will be a happy end.
Another Earth (2011)
conflicts
This movie is about a woman who drinks and drives, so she clashes a car and kills and a kid and the mother. The man who also has the accident loses consciousness for a long time escapes death. She visits his house to apologize the accident, but she cannot do that, and she tells a lie that she is a cleaner and the purpose of visit is cleaning his house. I sympathize with her distress from her expression, voice, and eye. She falls in love with the man, so she would not like to lose this relationship. However, it is heartbreaking for her that she continues to tell the lie. I can understand her conflicts through her painful and sad expressions. I was very impressed with the scene that she tells the truth. I van understand his feelings that his lover kills his wife and child, and she betrays him from his complex expressions. I like this movie because I can enjoy the transition of the characters'' feelings and conflicts of the woman and the man. The ending is very attractive because I am keen to know the world after the ending.
Requiem for a Dream (2000)
the danger of drugs
Thsi movie is about a mother and a son who always use stimulant drugs. It is decided that the mother appears on a TV show, so she decides to lose her weight. When she hears about the medicine losing weight easily, she starts to drink it, but it is a drug. The son always use drugs, and he tries to sell the drug with his friend. This movie shows a lot of realistic scenes. For example, the son amputates his left arm, and blood splatters on his face. Besides, the mother is given electric shocks to treat the addiction to drugs. I think these scenes are effective to show drugs are dangerous and we should not use it, but I cannot forget them because of the shock. I was also impressed with the scene that she has a hallucination. As hallucination escalates, her mental goes collapsed. Her confusion and horror expressions convey the danger and risk of drugs. I do not like this movie because I cannot feel well when I watched it. However, it is important to know drugs make our life break. This movie is a good example to tell it. I will never use drugs, but I was very scared that my friends use it and break their lives. I think this movie is very realistic, so it makes me think so.
Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994)
an idea of wedding
This movie is about a man who thinks it is not important to marry and single is one of the way of life. However, his thought changes through three weddings and a funeral. This movie describes a man who likes a woman, but she marries other man. I was impressed with the scene that a man who takes part in the woman's wedding dies in the wedding hall. I was very surprised because I cannot imagine that a wedding and a funeral happens at the same time. However, this scene is a very important turning point in this movie because his idea about wedding starts to change. I can understand he is fearful of solitary death through conversation with his friend, so he decides to marry a woman who lives him for along time. I was also impressed with the scene that he refuses to vow to love the bride for his lifetime. Before the wedding, he hears the woman who loves for a long time gets divorced, so he decides to be with the woman. I can understand his conflict between the feeling that he would not like to hurt the bride and the feeling that he would like to go out with the woman through his action, voice, and expressions. I think this movie is very important today because there is a mainstream that we should marry. I think whether we should marry or not should not be forced, so this movie is significant to show an idea of wedding today.
Vertigo (1958)
love and distorted obsession
This movie is about a man who quits a detective and becomes a fear of heights because of the trigger of retiring the job. His old friend asks him to research his wife who acts in an eccentric way. However, he falls in love with the woman, but she dies, so he he starts to make another woman the woman. I was little scared with the scene that the man brings a woman who resembles to his died lover to a convent that is a place where she dies. I can feel his mad thought from the scene that he makes her wear the died lover's dress and he makes her hair dye in the color of his died lover before. However, his bizarre thought is at peak then.I can understand that how important the died lover is for him from his expressions and actions, but I was horrified with the excessive actions. I was also surprised oh the big differences between the former part and the latter part. I think this movie is a romance story, but this movie focuses on on the dispread love after she dies. I like this movie because I can enjoy the transition of the man's feelings.
Gôruden suranbâ (2010)
strong ties
Thsi movie is based on the assassination of President Kennedy. A man who saves an idol from a thug is famous in Sendai, so everyone knows him. However, he is frame of the criminal of assassination. I enjoyed the scenes that compares his reality with his good old days. I was impressed with the scene that the former girlfriend exchanges the battery of the memorable car for the man and the woman to help him. The man remembers the events in the car, so these comparisons highlight that he is in severe situation. I also like the scene that the past friends tries to help him to avoid the police's chase. I can feel their ties because they believe that he does not assassinate up the Prime Minister from their serious and strong-willed expressions. It was also shocked for me that the police hits on the former girlfriend's face. However, I can understand the police's disparate persistence that he would like to capture him. I like this movie because I watched it with tension all the time. I also like the ending since the former girlfriend's daughter stamps on his hand, and the message summarizes the former girlfriend's feeling.
The Revenant (2015)
hatred
This movie is about a man who is attacked by a bear and cannot move by himself because of injury in a forest. A party is on the way to a camp, so he is left by the companions. Furthermore, his son killed by a cunning man. The theme of this movie is hatred. I was very impressed with the scene that the man tries to make his son eat some food, but then his son passes away. This scene conveys his feeling that he would nit like to admit his son died to me deeply from his frustrated expression. From this scene, the man's hatred feeling becomes bigger, so it is very important turning point in this movie. I was also shocked with the scene that he is attacked by a bear and he prevents from cold inside a horse. The attack scene is very terrible, so I cannot look straight at it. I also cannot enter the horse inside to beat because the horse is just dead.Tyese scenes are very long and realistic, so it make me more horrible. I do not like this movie because this movie is very shocking and cruel, so a Lott of scenes makes my eyes close. However, I can understand his hatred is natural from many scenes. I like the ending of this movie because first he tries to kill a man who kills his son, but finally he does not do that.
La La Land (2016)
attractive dance and music
This movie is about a romance story between a man and a woman. A man would like to own his bar which he can play jazz music as he likes. He meets a woman who would like to be an actress in a jazz bar. First, they do not like each other, but a closer relationship between them is brought by a common hobby. I like a lot of dancing and singing scenes, especially "A lovely Night". This scene has a singing part in the former half and a dancing part in the latter half. They say "you are not type for me" and "Our relationship never becomes a romance" to each other, so I can understand they do not like one another. However, I am fascinating of their harmonious tap dance as I do not feel they do not like each other. I am impressed with the first scene that many people dance in a highway, First, I do not think this scene is related to the story, but it is the important scene that the man and encounters the woman. The song and dance are so attractive , so I think it is a good introduction. I can enjoy the process of developing their love, and music and dance. I cannot expect the ending, but I like this movie as I bought a sound track CD.
Witness (1985)
love and tense
This movie starts with the scene that a child witnesses a man being killed by the two murderers in a restroom. The child and his mother are chased by two killers because of the witness, so the detective helps them an pd lives in a country. I was very impressed with the scene that the boy witnesses the crime. One of the murderers checks all toilets when he hears the sound. The kid barely escape from the danger, but I can feel his tension from his expression. I was also scared that the killer peeps into a gap between the door and the floor. The camera angle makes me more horrible and tense. It was also memorable for me that the detective and the kid's mother run to and hug each other. I can feel they really love one another. and the impulse of their love makes them do such a passionate action from their serious expression. I like this movie because I can enjoy the tension of the detective, the mother ,and a kid. I can forget their tense expectations. I also enjoyed the heartbreaking love since I cannot imagine the ending of the two people.
The Crush (2010)
love and selfishness
This movie begins with the scene that an elementary school student gives a ring to his teacher because he has a crush on her. However, when he knows she has a fiancé, his character greatly changes. At first, I thought this movie is a peaceful and cute story, but my expectations are overrides, rather it is a violence movie. I was very scared that the boy says "zi will kill you by a gun", and I did not think he really shoots off a gun. I cannot forget his crazy and bizarre expression. However, I can understand the boy likes her very much as the love and the feeling that he wants her make him do such an action. I can feel how much he likes her strongly. I was also impressed with the scene that the fiancé showers her with verbal abuse because the man realizes he will be killed by the boy. I can see his selfishness and foolishness from his expressions ans actions as soon as the man turns out he is derived into a corner. I do not like this movie because I do not feel well after I watched it. however, I can learn by the way of expression the actors, characters strongly like the boy's mad and the man's egocentrism and stupidity.
Fait d'hiver (2001)
A mistake makes big accident
Tjis movie begins with the scene that a father calls home to talk to his wife in the car, but a daughter puts the call. When the father hears the name which he does not know, doubts to his wife suddenly arise. Thsi movie goes on through the conversation between the father and the daughter. This movie includes the element of a tragedy which is caused by the father's mistake. Fist of all, I was interested in the innocence of the daughter. The father doubts the wife's love affair, and he asks the daughter to confirm it. The daughter is really pure, so she does not know what happens in the house and whether the affair is good and normal or not. The innocence highlights the guilty of the affair and the adults. It was also funny to see the father's expression when he knows the truth and fact. I cannot forget his expression because his face is filled with agitation, regret, and confusion. I like this movie since the ending of this movie greatly tell short of my expectations. Finally, I cannot anticipate the end of the two people who do the love affair. I enjoyed the suspense, and I was attracted by it.
Head Over Heels (2012)
true love
This movie is about an elderly couple who live separate lives at home. The wife lives on the floor normally, while the husband lives on the ceiling with going against gravity. The husband tries to repair the relationship with his wife, but she refuses it. However, I can understand they love each other and sympathize with each other by three scenes. The first scene is that they correct the picture which is taken in their wedding to be able to see it from their right view without being upside down. The second scene is that the husband worries about and finds his wife who leaves from their home. The third scene is that the wife finds the shoes which her husband fixes to repair their relationship, and the wife were the shoes on their wedding day. After that, the wife tries to have a reconciliation with her husband. I was very touched and impressed with these three scenes, and this movie shows their true love. I like this movie, especially the last scene, because it shows me their love and sympathy with each other. It is very amazing since there is no dialogue, but I van understand them with their face and action. I cannot watch this movie without tears.
Tootsie (1982)
completed mixtures of many characters
This movie is about a man who is an actor, but he cannot get a role because of his stubborn stance regarding acting. He needs a lot of money to play in a theater with his play companions, so he pretends a woman, and he appears in a TV drama. This movie focuses on the complicated mixtures of a lot of characters' feelings. I was impressed with the feelings of a woman who is at the mercy of the man's act. I can understand that she adores him first, but she would like to build a better relationship with him after that her voice, expression, and action. I was also interested in the change of the way of expressing her feelings. First, she is weak at describing him anger, but she can get angry fiercely through his bad treatment. Moreover, it was memorable that the worry of a woman who is a single mother and has a boyfriend who has a tendency to cheat. I can know her feelings that she would like to trust him, but she cannot do that completely through communication with him. After she says goodbye to her boyfriend, her expression conveys her sadness and distress whether her decision is right or not deeply to me. I like this movie since I can feel the transition of the feelings of many characters. I can also understand to live honestly from his situation that tells a lot of lies to many people, so he loses a job.
Terry Tate, Office Linebacker (2002)
A very large gap between what he does and what he is like
This movie is about a man, Terry Tate, who is an Americanfootball player. He patrols his office, and he warns someone not to break the rules of his company through tackles and a big voice. This mo,vie is a comedy, but it tells us the importance of complying with rules. For example, the football player tackles a man who tries to bring a dozen pens to his home, and the player scolds the man and warns him in a big voice. The scene that the American football player tries to return from the injury by an accident is very funny. He feels the tackles to someone who breaks the rules are his mission. It is also funny that there is a very large gap between what he does and the seriousness and enthusiasm of it. I feel another gap from him. When he does a presentation to his colleagues, I can feel he is intelligent, cool, and passive. The figure highlights what he tackles for the co-workers with eagerness. First, I am surprised because of his severe tackle, so I think it is a violence movie, but this movie fell short of my expectations. I like this movie since it tells us the importance of observing rules in a fun way.
Porcelain Unicorn (2010)
A timeless friendship
This short movie is about a friendship between elderly people. The beginning of their friendship goes back to their childhood, and this movie starts with the scene that a boy meets a mysterious girl in a dark closet. This movie focuses on consideration to other people. The boy's action is always thinks about the girl, and his expression tells us what he really sympathizes with her. The girl is also worried about the boy because he protects her from something. On this other hand, the adults' cruel behavior compares with their sympathy for each other and pure feelings. The heartless of an adult accentuates their innocent feelings by the scenes the man hits the boy, and the man stamps on a ceramic object. I think the ending is the result that they think about one another. Moreover, the amazing point in this movie is using only 6 lines of dialog. I pay attention to how this movie uses this words "it's a unicorn", but I did not think how important a unicorn is in this movie. I think it is difficult to express their completed feelings by using only 6 lines of dialog, but this movie can do it because of the characters' expression. I like this movie since I am touched by their pure feelings and consideration.
Three Days in Kamakura (2012)
complicated feelings
This movie describes a relationship between a Japanese woman, Keiko, and a British man, David. They live near the sea in Kamakura, and one day, the man brings a boy who is of mixed parentage to his house. This movie focuses on the complicated feelings of a couple who have no child, especially in the view of the woman. I am very impressed by the scene that the woman traces the scar of her abdomen because of hysterectomy. I cannot forget her heartbreaking face and voice. It is also very important that the woman sometimes uses Japanese to express her true feelings in spite of almost all English in this movie. The woman is a Japanese, so it is difficult to convey her complex feelings in English. It is also better to use Japanese because it can show me the importance of the scenes. Moreover, the scenes of the child who is a half is significant in this movie. These scenes emphasize her loneliness and sadness because it tells us she hopes to have a child. Thus, the key point of this movie is the face and voice of actors. I like this movie, but it makes me painful because I can understand her heartbreaking feelings through her face and voice easily.
Fish Out of Water (2005)
the egoism of human
This movie depicts a man who rows a boat to commute to a company to avoid crowded train in rush hour. Some people ask him to ride his boat to go to a company to avoid the busy traffic, but he is tired of their terrible selfish request and action. I was very interested in their action because I can see egoism of humans and no environmental-friendly behavior. Yhis movie is a comedy, but there is a little romance. However, it tells us what we have to behave. For example, a woman who rides his boat first gets angry when he comes to a wharf. More and more passengers get in his boat, and he gets nervous day by day. His exhausted face accentuates their selfishness. Moreover, a man also throws away a garbage into the sea. He also thinks only of himself, so he does not care about nature. Yhis movie tells us that we have to behave to people and nature, so it is very meaningful to know it with laughter.
Father and Daughter (2000)
the love the father and the daughter
This movie starts with a scene that a girl went to a beach by bicycle with her father, but only her father went to somewhere far away without any clear reasons. However, she goes to the place by bicycle every day over 50 years to search her father. This movie focuses on the great love of the father and the daughter, There is no voices in this movie, but only pictures express the daughter always thinks about her father. I was very touched and impressed about it. Severe nature highlights the daughter's admirable action. For example, strong wind prevents the daughter from moving forward to go to a beach, and slope and snow make it difficult for her to pedal a bicycle. Shadow also plays a great role in this movie. The deep black of the daughter's shadow emphasizes her depression and drop because of not being able to find her father today. The ending of this movie because I can understand the daughter's feeling toward her father and deep affection oh her father and the daughter in less than 10 minutes.
