So good
22 May 2017
This blew me away. I couldn't believe how much I loved it. I have attention deficit disorder and I actually sat and watched this without doing anything else, getting up, or looking away. That almost never happens and I cannot stress that enough. The film looks stunning and has high quality camera work and art direction. The costuming is incredible. The casting and acting is top notch (truly). But what I especially appreciate and what really stood out for me and tempted me to write a review was that this was not the same scripted tale of Beauty and the Beast we have been over saturated with by Disney. This is a new story and not predictable and much more adult even. Yes there is still that question of whether Belle is just suffering from the syndrome that kidnap victims can get for their captors but at least he is smart and when they bicker it's believable there is chemistry. I recommend this and trust me that it's not the same story over again, it is quite different.

For a particular taste
22 May 2017
Okay let me level with you - this movie caters to a particular taste and style of film for certain people. If you're expecting Harry Potter then no, it's not for you. If you're expecting a gory gritty horror movie, no not for you. If you like "Beautiful Creatures"or "Pan's Labrinth" this IS for you and I suggest you give it a shot. There is a scene in the end that haunts me still, the costume and makeup was OUTSTANDING! I really must give props. And Gregory Peck's grandson reminds you of him the whole time - looks like him, sounds like him, and he was a good actor. The Director had a great sense of humor or perhaps the screenwriter as the dialogue was well written and there was some natural laughs. I liked the mystery of it - it really was a mystery. The ending is messed up but not predictable and reminds you that you signed up for a horror movie so that's what you're getting.

B Horror movie with some dark comedy elements
22 May 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This is for sure a B horror movie so don't expect a lot of crazy special effects or anything. I actually appreciated that because I'm so distracted by them when they aren't done right. It looked like in this movie the brothers were actually fighting and that being said, the fight scenes were very well done and didn't drag out too long either. It had a kind of rawness to it. However someone of it was really campy like the the cliché of a small town and a boring high school. Yeah yeah yeah we get it, it's a small town. The math teacher who is a punk rocker in real life was actually a nice wink. The acting overall was pretty good and the film LOOKS really nice. It doesn't look like a horror movie it looks like a sweet romance. The story was unique and I did not guess the ending so for me, that means it's good. But I have a lot of issues with not having all the answers and again, the cliché of the small town. How OLD is Louisa actually? Are the twins actually the oldest brothers? Is Hilary now like Louisa in the end and will have to live that way? A very fun film though, I give it 6 out of 10.
