So You Think You Can Dance: Auditions: Day One (2024)
Disappointing. New format has made the show unrecognizable.
This isn't SYTYCD. The format is entirely different and the vibes aren't the same either. In my opinion they should have just cancelled SYTYCD and given this show a new name instead of trying to pass this off as the show I've watched and loved for the previous 17 seasons.
It all feels fake and heartless and most of the contestants are already professional dancers. Now we are going to see how they live together or something? It's like America's Next Top Model, which would be fine I guess if they would have just called it something else. I usually only leave positive reviews but I'm just really sad that one of my favorite shows is ruined.
Good Rivals (2022)
Really good overall!
I enjoyed the docuseries, especially watching it during the world cup!
The only negative thing I have to say (it's more of a clarification, really) is that in the 3rd episode it is mentioned that "...his 57 goals for the USA is tied for #1 in the history of American soccer," but thats a misleading quote. It should have specified that .."he's tied for #1 in the history of *US* men's soccer." Abby Wambach is the leading scorer for US soccer with 184 goals. There are at least 9 other USWNT players with more than 57 goals, including Mia Hamm (158,) Carly Lloyd (134,) Alex Morgan (119,) Michelle Akers (105,) and Megan Rapinoe (63.)
I realize this is a docuseries about men's soccer, but the wording made it an inaccurate statement.
I didn't necessarily plan to list all of the names and goals, but there's a character limit. It's not really *that* big of a deal, but the USWNT deserves more credit and attention than they're typically given.
LFG (2021)
*sigh*
Other reviewers must not have paid attention to the facts presented in the film.
The USWNT has won 4 world cup championships. That's 4 more than the men have won. They rought in more revenue than the men's team. They. Win. More. The USWNT and their lawyers successfully refuted every argument the federation presented until the only thing they had left was "bUt WoMeN aRe BiOlOgIcAlLy InFeRiOr." Classic.
Has anyone considered that the women's game would improve (even more) if they were paid the same as men? As it stands, highly skilled female players are faced with the choice of pursuing their dreams of a career playing for the US National Team and making a relatively mediocre salary, or hanging their cleats up and getting a serving or desk job that pays more for WAY less work.
Female soccer players are playing the same exact game, and they put in the same amount of work (or more) as their male counterparts. The only difference is the women have 4 times more World Cup Championship trophies. The lack of respect for women's soccer (and women's sports, in general) is irrelevant -- the fact is this is the most successful women's national soccer club in history.
Pay the girls, Snoop Dogg said so.
