Andy Hardy Comes Home (1958)
I love Andy Hardy Comes Home
Andy Hardy comes home is one of my favorite Andy Hardy films. I also really love the music in it. The story is great as well. It just gives me a warm feeling to see all of the Hardy family together again. Of course, Judge Hardy is gone and that leaves a sad feeling inside. When Andy keeps going to the place where he had his mad to mad talks with his father, I get teary eyed. There was not a better series than the Andy Hardy series. This serious made Mickey Rooney a major star and has remained a major star since. For a sweet, enjoyable evening, check out Andy Hardy Comes Home. It's not quite like the original but still very pleasant. Also, Mickey Rooney's real life son plays Andy Jr.
Love Finds Andy Hardy (1938)
One Of My Favorite-Mickey and Judy
I simply love this Andy Hardy film. I found it at Wal-mart one day and just had to get it. I've seen Mickey Rooney in films before, but never was he so funny as in this. Mickey and Judy Garland were great together. In fact, they are my favorite on screen couple of all time. The whole movie is funny and entertaining. I wish they would put all of the Andy Hardy movies out on DVD. Another movie I like with Mickey and Judy is Girl Crazy. It's a great musical, if you like musicals. This one isn't boring and simply entertaining all the way through. For a great laugh and a lot of fun check out Love Finds Andy Hardy....you will not be disappointed.
The Strip (1951)
Mickey Rooney-great drum playing
OK-let's give credit where credit is due here OK? Mickey Rooney simply steals the show and is great on the drums. Not only that, he's great in this movie. The story, the acting, the music are all tops here. Give Me A Kiss To Build A Dream on was a Oscar nominated song. This is one of the most entertaining musicals I have ever seen. Mickey Rooney was in his 30's here and no longer a child. The man kept right on working when other child stars faded into obscurity. It's no wonder why. The man had talent that no other star in history could match. He could do anything, anytime, anyplace and succeeded at it all. I met Mr. Rooney while he was doing his show Sugar Babies and he also is a super nice guy. So, let's no under estimate the talent of this man, OK?
Babes in Arms (1939)
Mickey Rooney does it all!
Babes In Arms is one of my favorite movies of all time. I will never forget seeing this film. In fact, it was the first Mickey Rooney film I ever saw. Mickey Rooney shows off all of his talents here, proving why he was Hollywood's biggest star. Also, earning a much deserved Oscar nominations. Mickey and Judy always charm the pants off of me. Hollywood will never know two more talented teenagers. If you want a good laugh just watch Mickey's impersonations of Clark Gable and Lionel Barrymore. Very impressive stuff. Judy is simply gorgeous in this film as Mickey's girlfriend. The Rooney/Garland chemistry is unmatched to this day. For great music and fun, check out this classic musical.
Drive a Crooked Road (1954)
Great performance by Rooney
Drive A Crooked Road was a great performance by Mr. Mickey Rooney. I'm never ceased to be amazed by this man's talents. As a child I used to watch his films and he always amazed me then and always will. I recently discovered this classic gem and is one of the best performances of Mr. Rooney's. Mickey Rooney always gives a good performance. Mickey Rooney plays an auto mechanic who is framed by the girl he thinks loves him. Mickey Rooney did a lot of great film noir in the 50's. For other great Rooney 1950's performances check out Baby Face Nelson, The Big Operator, The Last Mile (an amazing performance by Rooney.) You will not be disappointed.
Killer McCoy (1947)
Killer McCoy-Great boxing film.
I just caught this movie on TCM not long ago and it features some of the best boxing sequences ever filmed. Starring Mickey Rooney, Ann Blythe and Brian Doneley. Mickey Rooney was in top form here and was very good in this film. It's easy to see why he was and is one of the most loved actors of all time. The movie is entertaining from beginning to end. Another great boxing film that also starring Mickey Rooney along side Anthony Quinn is Requiem For A Heavyweight made in 1963. (I believe that was the year.)Mickey Rooney plays the boxer's sympathetic trainer and is also very good in this one. Check Killer McCoy out the next time it plays on TCM.
