I wasn't expecting much considering the ratings it's received, but this movie is actually a lot of fun. All the characters were believable and the action was great. Not sure why people didn't like this flick.

Not as bad as I remembered
20 May 2020
Short and sweet. We've all seen it. Watching it fresh again for the first time in a long time, it's not that bad. If they could just redub Jar Jar's VO it would make this movie 10 times better. That's it. Jar Jar is just distracting. With that being said, all love to the VO actor Best, he deserves better than all the venom from Star Wars fans.
The Gentlemen
(2019)
Solid Guy Ritchie movie
21 April 2020
Not sure why the critics didn't like this. I guess it wasn't woke enough for them. If you like Guy Ritchie, English criminal underground or gangster movies in general you'll like this movie. It has a great cast and genuinely made me laugh out loud. I will also never say the F-Word the same ever again after seeing this.
The Ballad of Buster Scruggs

Great original storytelling with variety
24 November 2018
I'm not somebody that celebrates the Cohen's complete works, but man this was entertaining from the beginning. With variety of tones all of these short stories succeed in their own unique way. When it was over I wanted more.
Incredibles 2

Politically correct snoozer
14 November 2018
I'll keep this short. After that long of a gap between movies I expected more. This movie was boring, slow, formulaic and suffered from A LOT of not so subtle gender pandering. I really didn't want to read that into the story line but after an hour or so you just couldn't ignore it. When it was all said and done I found my self pausing the movie several times just to see how much of it was left. The first one was so well done, I just ended up feeling bummed that this was the movie we all waited to finally see.

Best scary movie in a while
29 August 2018
Man, that movie actually got me to tear up towards the end, damn that was scary. I wasn't expecting anything from this movie and man was I pleasantly surprised. I typically don't really even care for the gender, but this one was pretty original and I didn't expect that ending.
The Cloverfield Paradox
(2018)
Good sci-fi click, I don't understand all the hate

I wasn't expecting much from The Cloverfield Paradox, so I was pleasantly surprised when it ended up delivering a pretty satisfying movie.
The tie in to the Cloverfield universe was a little thin, and after reading how the movie came to be, I understand.
Don't go in to the movie expecting to hate it because other people did. Just enjoy it for it for what it is.

Star Trek Beyond
(2016)
Was that a TV show I just watched?
29 June 2018
I have really enjoyed the tangential timeline they came up with to reboot Star Trek and I like the casting of the younger versions of all the main characters.
With that being said this entire movie felt like one long episode from one of the TV series. It felt overly campy and looked like it was filmed on some backlot at Studio 6. Every time the bad guy was on screen I felt like I was watching an episode of Face Off. It started out with promise, but in the end it was a total yawner.
Man, what a let down.

Good actors, good set up, no payoff
20 March 2018
I don't need movies to wrap up everything in a nice little package, but this one leaves a lot unanswered, and not in a good way. It just seemed like all the characters instead of coming together for the final act, just slowly drifted away from the central theme and then it ended. I swear the last look taht was given before the scene goes black is exactly the look I gave my wife when the credits started to roll.

What in the heck is going on here?

I'm a gamer. I love RPGs. I love fantasy movies. But man, this movie is a mess. The ties to the source materials are flimsy at best. It's just looks like an attempt to grab a few more bucks from the WoW crowd. If it weren't for the WoW apologists (who I appreciate because of my own gaming past) this movie would be rated around the 3 range. The people involved took this movie way too seriously. Sorry, you're not Tolkien. At least take comfort in the fact that this movie isn't as bad as Double Dragon.
