Anti-Magic Academy: The 35th Test Platoon (2015)
all i remember is boobs
I watched about 10mins of the first episode about 5 years ago, and got bored. This anime is so bad and the first scene is literally them taking lewd photos of the "loli" character. Also all the girls have huge boobs. Nothing to grab your attention and i closed the tab after this. Apparently it doesn't redeem itself either so im not going back. Would give 0 stars if i could.
Yes Day (2021)
no laughter
Walked in on my two younger siblings and my parents watching it. not a smile. my siblings are 12 and 14. listen, i don't care if you think "oh it's for kids, so it doesn't have to be good!". but my brother and sister were not even close to laughing throughout. more cringe than funny. 1 star.
An Affair to Remember (1957)
amongst all these shining reviews, here i go...
Oh my good good. PLEASE do not subject yourself to this movie. it's god-awful and truly hasn't aged well.
upon entering the movie, i hoped terry was going to be a strong female character, whose wit and charm would soften nickie's flirty, playboyish demeanour. however, 23 minutes into the film i had to take a break, as the film moves so slowly and it's looks haven't aged well, so i had a breather and came back.
terry stops being strong and smart when they step off the boat.
from there on, inexplicably she loses her strong wit and charm, and becomes a meek and feeble woman, who still sings (by the way, you have to sit through two of her songs in this movie) but is weak around her husband, and gives up the ghost immidiately because oh! a weak woman just can't keep nickie off her mind! upon going to get married, in which she leaves her boyfriend (? why are they still together?) in a dress shop whilst trying to choose an outfit (which she eventually doesn't) she goes to meet nickie at the top of the empire state building (?) but is looking at the top of it as the crosses a zebra-crossing and is hit by a car. she screams. end scene.
due to her no-legs-itis terry now becomes a children's music teacher (it really affected her vocal chords) and we get the joy of sitting through one children's choir song about god (it's like five minutes long - or, at least it feels it) in which every child has a solo line except the two black children and the one mixed race child (who are, by the way, also given the least screen time!). there's ANOTHER children's choir song, in which the children go to terry in her bedroom (?) and say "we can't do this without you!" to which her doctor (who is just there) says "if it was bad for her, would you want her to go?" (why is it bad for her? she's been teaching them the whole time!) so they sing to her as "practice" (ie. fill more screen time) in which it is very painful.
the movie ends with nickie somehow finding terry in her apartment (she still has the housekeeper?) and they just talk nothingness for 8 minutes and thn he finds her wheelchair and the painting (because he could hardly recognise her in her wheelchair!) and the movie ends with terry saying "if you can paint i can walk" even though painting is his JOB and he's been painting his whole life. i puked in my mouth and then ranted to my friend on the phone.
this movie mad me angry, and it made me bored. i'm glad it only cost me £3.99 - even that seems overpriced for this garbage.
one star. don't subject yourself to this madness.
Lady Bird (2017)
Interstellar
Probably the best film I've ever seen - Sairose Ronan is great as Christine, and her relationship with her mum and friends is so relatable! Literally brilliant, me and my friend wanted to see it again!
