" Amar Singh Chamkeela " , the name speaks up for itself ; but the brilliant direction by Imtiaz Ali and an award - worthy performance by Diljit Dosanjh in the titular role of the legendary Punjabi singer , has made it very special and iconic. Parineeti Chopra and the rest of the supporting cast have also given very good performances.

The technical aspects of the movie are very good Editing, cinematography, the dialogues, the music and everything else feels fully authentic. It's actually quite a hard - hitting movie showing the negative effects of becoming a huge , popular celebrity. Yet , the director Imtiaz Ali and the main lead actor Diljit Dosanjh have managed to infuse a certain dose of entertainment also in the movie.

If you like watching biopic, then I will highly recommend this movie to you. This movie proves the fact that if good directors are given enough creative freedom to make good movies , then they will ensure that the audience gets to watch and experience great movies.

" The Majestic " definitely goes in the top 5 of my personal favorites as far as movies are concerned. This is quite a realistic, slice - of - life type of drama movie that depicts the 1950s small town life ( and even life in a small town generally) very beautifully.

Jim Carrey gives an authentic performance in a role that is more serious and very less comic , as opposed to the highly comic roles that he is normally offered. He is very convincing as a blacklisted writer, who suffers from amnesia after an accident. He is mistaken for a long - lost war hero son by the people living in the town of Lawson. The supporting cast have also given very heart - felt performances.

The director has done a brilliant job in " The Majestic ". His direction is almost flawless ; he might have fumbled a bit in the accident scene , but I didn't take out any points for that. The reason for doing this is because he has presented life in a small town so nicely, especially in the 1950s Era, when life was simpler as compared to today's fast, highly expensive, over - worked lifestyle that most of us are being forced to live. The director teaches us that life can be simple yet beautiful.

The theme of community support, fair play politics, war heroes, creative and quality content story writing in movies, the relevance and magic of cinema are very applicable in today's times also.

Overall, " The Majestic " is a feel - good type of drama movie that attempts to convey things as authentically as possible, while still providing enough entertainment. I highly recommend it for everyone.

I began watching " Bawaal " with no expectations at all. By the time I finished watching it , I learnt that this movie has life lessons to teach literally everyone. I was wondering why it was initially screened at a film festival ; now I know the reason - because it really is an international standard movie.

Firstly, I want to talk about the performances. Varun Dhawan, as the main lead hero / central character of " Bawaal " , has given an outstanding and quite an intelligent performance. He understood the type of personality he was supposed to play , and plays it almost flawlessly. Jahnvi is also good as Varun ' s epileptic wife. The supporting cast, including the kids , are also good in their performances.

Secondly, I want to talk about the direction. Nitesh Tiwari is excellent and quite creative as the director of this movie. He handles the subject / main issue brilliantly. The way he has used the WW2 scenes and historical events and connected it with Varun ' s problems in " Bawaal " is mesmerizing. The comedy infused by the director is also worth a watch.

Sajid Nadiadwala has effectively produced the movie and has had " Bawaal " shot in very good and meaningful locations. Apart from Paris , Berlin , Normandy , and other foreign locations, even the shots in India are good. " Bawaal " tells the story of a teacher who is initially not satisfied and happy with any area of his life - whether be it his career, marriage, house , or anything else. Then something happens that changes everything for him ; and he finally learns that you can keep growing in your career , love life , or any other areas of your life but , at the same time, you should be grateful for what you already have ; in other words, we must not destroy what we already have in order to achieve growth , because life is unpredictable , and anything can happen to anybody at any time.

" Enemy " is a very smart , deep , psychological thriller. If you just want to unwind and watch a light - hearted movie, then this is not your cup of tea. However, if you like watching movies that challenge your mind , and let the viewer become the mystery - solver , then this is definitely your " double - shot of tequila " ( I mean your type of movie) .

This movie is definitely open to multiple interpretations. Although there are a minimum number of clues that have been given by the director regarding what / who is real and what / who is not , the chronological order of events that happen is definitely questionable. I reckon that is exactly what the director Denis Villeneuve wanted.

Speaking of the director ( Denis Villeneuve) , I must say he has done brilliant work on this movie " Enemy ". He has created a very deep, psychological thriller that actually challenges the viewer ' s mind to all extremes. Now I would like to speak about the performances. Jake Gyllenhaal , as the main lead actor in " Enemy " is more than outstanding, more than excellent, and has definitely given a performance in a very complex role / roles ; Gyllenhaal ' s performance is clearly legendary abd and top - class , and should be marked as one of the best performances given by an actor in such a complex, mind - bending role. The two female leads have also given great performances. Both Sarah Gadon and Melanie Laurent are praise - worthy. Though , Melanie Laurent ' s role is a bit under - written ; I wish it had more depth so that Laurent could have shown in this movie also that she is such a good actress. Hats off to her , anyway , for giving an intense performance with such limited footage.

Coming back to the story and screenplay, " Enemy " revolves around Jake Gyllenhaal ' s character / characters who has to deal with complex issues such as experiencing to live with or without a pregnant wife , adultery and the urge to commit adultery again, and the urge to switch his career also , and of course, deadly spiders ( which are used as a means of symbolism). " Enemy " is a tale of men who are torn between the norm of commitment and the urge to fully satisfy their deepest sexual desires. In making this decision, sometimes men start having psychological problems. How they deal with these types of complex, psychological problems tends to be different for each man ; because every man has his own individual personality, his own good and bad attributes.

This original south action drama movie titled " Vikram Vedha " is a very smart, intelligent , creative and clever one. It's excellent in almost all departments / aspects. Excellent performance by all actors , excellent direction , excellent story and screenplay , excellent camera work , and the background music is also very effective.

The two main lead actors , Madhavan and Vijay Sethupati are outstanding as the titular characters of Vikram and Vedha. Both actors seem to be in full character and have effectively portrayed the personalities that they represent.

The best thing about this movie is that every incident is related to the main plot and characters , which makes it a very satisfying watch. The directors have done great work on every scene and the authenticity of their work is clearly reflected throughout the movie.

The editing , camera work , background music and dialogues provide the additional zest that is required in a clever action drama movie like this. I highly recommend this movie to all the fans of Madhavan and Vijay Sethupati.

Bhool Bhulaiya 2 is a good enough horror - comedy that has a lot of positive elements that work well in its favor. The screenplay is quite entertaining and intriguing enough . Secondly , the performances by the lead actors are worth a watch. To begin with , Kartik Aryan has given an excellent performance as Ruhan a.k.a. Rooh baba. Maybe he knew that his performance would be compared against Akshay ' s ; probably that's the factor that made him work a bit smarter and his acting in this movie is almost flawless. Tabu has once again proven the fact that she is definitely worthy of all the respect and recognition that she has achieved so far as an actress in Hindi movies. She has also given an excellent performance in the dual roles she got to play. Kiara is also okay and does whatever she could with a slightly minor characterization , despite being the heroine of the lead actor. The supporting cast which includes Rajpal Yadav , Sanjay Mishra and others is also okay. I really liked the chubby kid in this movie. He was quite funny and added to the entertainment value of Bhool Bhulaiya 2.

The direction is quite effective ; Aneez Bazmee has infused the right blend of comedy and horror in this flick. The editing is also good , and the dialogues are also well-written and suit the tone of the story.

In conclusion , this movie has the right ingredients for achieving box office success. I am also an Akshay fan , but I still love this movie. I see no reason at all for people to spread negative comments about the movie. I highly recommend: Bhool Bhulaiya 2 " for everyone.

" Thar " is an off beat thriller , thergore the first thing that shouldn't be done is to compare it with commercial action entertainer movies. It's a revenge - drama set in the Rajasthan desert area mostly. I am quite impressed with this movie because every actor in " Thar " has given good , effective performances ; which is a very rare thing that exists in very few movies that are being released nowadays.

Anil Kapoor and Harshvardhan Kapoor have given excellent performances in their respective roles as a cop and the revenge - seeker. While Anil Kapoor ' s performance is more reliant on his excellent dialogue delivery skills and strong personality , Harshvardhan gives a slightly more intense performance that relies on the concept of talking less through words and more through facial expressions. Harsh conveys the pain of his character on a very deep and realistic level.

The rest of the supporting cast have also given good performances. Fatima is good in her role and so is Nivedita. The girl who played Harshvardhan ' s wife is also a genuine performer. Satish Kaushik is also good but I wish he was there till the ending scene. The editor had done a brilliant job. The background score is haunting and intense , which suits the mood of the movie. Harshvardhan Kapoor is an excellent actor and I sincerely wish and hope that after watching his performance in " Thar " ? More producers and directors will cast him in some brilliant roles and movies in the very near future.

" Runway 34 " is a smart , intelligent thriller. Ajay Devgun is excellent , both as the leading actor and director of this plane -thriller , as I like to call it. The supporting cast , which includes Amitabh Bachchan , Boman Irani , Rakul Preet Singh , and so many others , is also effective. Of course , as usual , there are a lot of haters out there , which includes lovers of cliched romantic movies , pot - boiler masala movies , and some hidden agenda people.

Don't let them get inside your heads. If you love a good thriller movie , then here it is in the form of " Runway 34 ". Once again Ajay Devgun proves that he can give tough competition to all the top notch directors when it comes to directing a good movie. Ajay is very creative as a movie director , and he has used plot twists and elements of mystery and intrigue very well. The editing is also okay. Dialogues are well constructed , especially the ones between Ajay and Amitabh Bachchan. I highly recommend this movie to everyone.

Jersey " is a very authentic , realistic drama movie with the game of cricket at its core. Shahid Kapur gives another powerful and electrifying performance as the cricketer who manages to achieve redemption and success despite all his personal problems that he faces in his life.

The rest of the supporting cast is also good and deliver whatever they were assigned in the movie. The director Gowtham Tinnanuri is a good director and has kept the tone and atmosphere of " Jersey " as realistic as possible. The music , which plays mostly in the background , has also been composed according to the tone of the story.

However , it seems that there are a lot of haters out there , who are trying to spread negative comments about the movie. I have seen both the original south " Jersey " and this Hindi remake , and I can objectively say that both movies are good and have their own special flavors and symbolism. Some people are just unnecessarily comparing the two movies , and just want to say that one is better and the other isn't. Please stop doing this ; both movies deserve their audiences and so what if one manages to reach a greater number of people than the other. The movie also symbolizes how good a father and son relationship can be if both understand each other. Jersey is a rare gem of cinema.

Wow, I have to say that " The Man from U.N.C.L.E. " is one of the best and coolest action- comedy movies of all times. The story is set in the y1960s, and the atmosphere, clothes, gadgets, and even the dialogues definitely have the 60s feel.

It is very difficult to make a movie set in the 1960s so full of fun, but director Guy Ritchie has excelled in making this movie totally refreshing , exciting, and enjoyable; from the beginning till the end. I will rate this movie as Guy Ritchie 's best work ad a movie director.

The actors have been correctly cast, and every actor in the movie has given commendable performances. The two main lead actors , Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer, delivered perfect portrayals of an American spy and Russian spy. Alicia Vikander also shines as an undercover British spy. The on-screen chemistry between these 3 actors is outstanding.

I recommend this movie to anyone who wants to enjoy a classic spy action- comedy set in the 1960s. I would like to take this opportunity to request a sequel to this movie with the same ensemble cast, please, Mr Guy Ritchie.

" Run All Night " is a serious, hard hitting action thriller / crime drama. Liam Neeson excels as an aging hitman who still has his killer instinct in top form. The rest of the cast have also given good performances ; namely Ed Harris, the dude who plays Liam's son , his wife, and so on.

The director has also given some outstanding and creative work in making this movie. I liked the camera work very much. In a lot of scenes, the camera begins with a wide shot an then takes us, the viewers, and throws us into an intense corner with the characters on screen.

In some aspects, I found Liam's performance and characterization better than his role in " Taken". This is because his character in " Run All Night " is deeper, more intense, more problematic, which makes it seem more realistic. I recommend this movie to anyone who wants to enjoy a realistic action-drama/ thriller, as compared to fake over the top ones.

Jawani Jaaneman is entertaining and realistic - a rare combination these days. This is what makes this movie so special. The story revolves around a man in his 40's, whose colorful, legally single and carefree life is turned upside down when he meets his 21 year daughter.

Saif Ali Khan plays the father, and Alaya makes an iconic debut as his daughter. Tabu plays Alaya's mother. Saif Ali Khan plays the commitment- free man with delightful perfection. He wants to have a good time with women, but no marriage, no children, no commitment. However, his life begins to change after his face to face surprise meeting with his daughter. Saif is totally convincing in every scene in this movie. Alaya is refreshing, sweet, good-looking,and a very good actress. Tabu has very few scenes, but she is so funny in every scene that she did in JJ. The rest of the cast have also given good performances. Most notable is Kubra Sait as Saif 's friend who finally begins to become his permanent partner by the time the movie ends. The " Meow" girl was also very sexy and funny.

The director , Nitin Kakkar, has made a very good movie that entertains and educates simultaneously. It is a totally realistic portrayal of today's life in which everyone has to keep juggling between woork, love, family and other commitments and respo nsibilities. The quirky humour in Jawani Jaaneman is totally refreshing and exciting.

The Lighthouse is fully reliant on the performances of Pattinson and Dafoe, and this is actually a blessing for this movie. Both Robert Pattinson and William Dafoe have given memorable performances. Both actors have really managed to dig deep into their characters and what they have portrayed on screen seem like real light house keepers.

The director has also some creative and praise- worthy work. The screenplay is convincing and quite dark and thrilling. For viewers wh like to be thrilled, surprised and even shocked, this movie is a must- watch. The camera-work is brilliant. Although it may seem a bit slow- paced at times, the director has managed to keep viewers interested and involved by making them think about what will happen in the next scene.

" Knives Out " is really an intriguing whodunit mystery- thriller movie, with refreshing twists and turns. Daniel Craig, Chris Evans , Ana De Armas, and the rest of the ensemble cast have given genuinely good performances. The director has also made the movie in a brilliant style. The screenplay is very well plotted, and keeps viewers interested and involved from the beginning till the end.

The locations are also great, and blend very well with the atmosphere required in a murder mystery movie. The dialogues of " Knives Out " have also been very well written. My favorite dialogue is when Chris Evans comments " What are you? CSI - KFC? "I highly recommend this movie - a must- watch for everyone.

"Joker" (2019) is an origin story for the super-villain character. After Heath Ledger's outstanding, haunting performance as the Joker in Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight", even I thought that it will be impossible for any actor to reach the highest of standards as the villainous Joker. Heath Ledger had set the level too high to reach, but the great, talented Jaoquin Phoenix has flown high and reached that exact highest of standard ; he definitely deserves all the awards for this performance in "Joker", and so does the director of this movie.

" Once upon a time in Hollywood " is clearly and definitely one of the best movies of year 2019.

Brad Pitt has always given cool, realistic type of performances - in this movie, he has given his coolest performance ever. Leonardo Di Caprio has always been great at playing troubled, complicated personalities. In this movie, he plays a fading actor who is trying to give his career a much needed upward boost. Margot Robbie is sweet and sexy as Sharon Tate. Even Al Pacino has managed to make the best out of the few scenes he has in this movie set in the year 1969. The real King over here is definitely director Quentin Tarantino. I feel that this movie is his best work till date. Everything that he has done to make this movie entertaining seems genuine.

If you're an open - minded person, then you will enjoy " Kabir Singh ". However, if you belong to the unfortunate group of narrow - minded people, then you will not even understand why the main character does certain things in the movie. So, welcome to the open - minded people 's club and talk about performances first.

To top it up, Shahid has always put his own original charm and hard work into every movie he has done so far. "Kabir Singh " is definitely one of the best roles and movie of his acting career. It is clearly up to the standard of his top movies such as "Haider , " Kaminey ", and " Udta- Punjab ".

The director has done his best work till date, along with the edgy editing and powerful story and screenplay.

Ow, "The Dead Don't Die" is a good, in fact, a brilliant dark-comedy horror movie. It will make you laugh, surprise you, scare you, and ask yourself " What the hell ? " ; but you will still continue to enjoy it and love it till the ending scene. Yes, it is one of those type of movies that can be described as " shockingly good ". Therefore, if you like watching movies that will surprise you, and make you wonder what will happen next, then this is the correct type of movie for you.

The writer-director, Jim Jarmusch, has intentionally made this movie in such a laid-back style that viewers will keep laughing about it while watching. I mean, in a movie that is showing the zombie apocalypse, no one will be expecting things to happen in a laid-back format ; but that is the best part about the humour presented in this movie. Adam Driver and Bill Murray are excellent in their roles and shine brilliantly.

Ketman " is a musical, fun fantasy (half true, half imaginary) movie about Sir Elton John. It is not a full facts biography movie. The makers of this movie have chosen to present the story in a partly fantasy style.

"Rocketman" shows various highs and lows of Sir Elton's life ; his rise and popularity as a singer / musician and his struggles with issues and elements such as drugs, alcohol, and his sexuality. The acting, writing, and singing in this movie is top-class. Taron Edgerton is excellent as the on-screen version of Sir Elton John. His performance is almost flawless. His hard work and dedication can be seen and felt through his brilliant performance. The director has also done a great job in creating this unique movie.

"De De Pyaar De" is a winner all the way. It is a romantic-comedy, but it provides a very realistic look at love, and the barriers / boundaries that should and should not surround love. The movie mainly revolves around the serious but sweet romance that develops between a 50 year old man (separated from his wife), and a 26 years young girl ; and what happens after they fall in love with each other.

Ajay Devgun is cool, stylish, physically fit, and brilliant as the 50 year old man with whom the 26 year girl falls in love with. There is even a dialogue that describes him as cool - " Sabhi 50 saal ke buddhe tumhare jaise cool nahi hote ". Rakul Preet Singh as the 26 years young girl has given an intelligent and sexy performance. Tabu , as the 47 year old , separated wife has given a very memorable and natural performance. The supporting actors are also good. The director, Akiv Ali, has done great work and he and Luv Ranjan have hit the bull's eye positively and brilliantly by making this movie.

"John Wick : Chapter 3 " should and will be noted as one of the best and definitely brilliant action movie ever made in the history of cinema. It is very rare and difficult for action films to be entertaining and intelligent at the same time - almost an impossible task ; John Wick 3 achieves this impossible task, and exceeds all the expectations that were set.

The main reason for the success of John Wick 3 is the great understanding between main actor Keanu Reeves and the director Chad Stahelski . This great actor-director duo /team must be remembered and noted as legendary ; just like other legendary actor-director combos such as Al Pacino-Francis Ford Coppola, Robert De Niro-Martin Scorsese, Christian Bale- Christopher Nolan and so on.

This movie delights action fans to the maximum satisfaction level - there is almost uninterrupted action throughout this movie. However, in doing so, the director has not compromised the story-telling and continuity. In fact, the story and John Wick's character deepen further. The viewers are provided with new information about John Wick. The director and writers have presented a brilliant character study in the form of John Wick (a.k.a. Boogeyman).

Keanu Reeves has once again given a great, dark, mesmerizing, and memorable performance as the super-assassin John Wick. He shines in every scene in this movie. This is the role, the character, and the performance that must be classified as Keanu's best work. Keanu has been successful in other action films / roles earlier - such as the honest officer in "Speed", Neo in " The Matrix" ; but the way he has played John Wick is simply outstanding. I love the way Keanu Reeves has given a dark, dangerous portrayal as John Wick for the third time. This is one movie franchise that has become better with each new entry in the franchise.

"The Dirt" is based on the real story of Motley Crue - a rock and roll band. Yes, it is a bit cheesy and over-the-top, but that is the most lovable element about the 80s rock. The movie uses the four band member narratives style (just like in the book). The movie does not take itself too seriously, and that's good because every movie does not require the "serious" rule.

Critics should not do a detailed comparison between the book and this movie, because there is no need to do so. Come on critics, the book was detailed and quite long - I know that fact already. This movie "The Dirt" is almost close to two hours in length. You cannot expect each and every detail and all the incidents regarding the Motley Crue being thrown in the movie within its limited running time.

"The Dirt" definitely lives up to its title because it shows the negative sides and mistakes of the four band members. The movie does manage to convince the viewers to sympathize with the rock and roll group in a few scenes. However, the makers of "The Dirt" know very well what they have made - an entertaining and darkly fun look movie about the Motley Crue. Therefore, watch it and just enjoy the roller coaster ride while it lasts.

"The Best of Enemies" is based on the true biographical stories of C.P. Ellis (played by Sam Rockwell), and Ann Atwater (played by Taraji Henson). C.P. Ellis was a leader of a local subgroup of the Ku Klux Klan in Durham, North Carolina and Ann was a civil rights activist for African-Americans in the 1960s and 1970s.

First of all, I have to give my two thumbs up for the powerful performances by Sam Rockwell and Taraji Henson. Both have played their characters with full intensity and honesty ; this is what makes this movie worth watching again and again. Anne Heche has also given a genuinely good performance in the brief role that she got.

The director of this movie is the real hero here. Every scene and every actor's performance has been handled brilliantly. It is a very difficult task to direct a movie that is a biography and / or true story. Everything has to look and feel authentic. The director has got most things right. The costume design is almost perfect. The environment and culture of that era has also been presented accurately, and looks and feels authentic. Some people may complain about predictability issues, but they must remember the fact that it is based on a true story.

In the end, C.P. Ellis is able to change his racist mindset due to Ann Atwater's efforts, and he saves Ann and the African-American community from being victimized by racists. That was what happened and that's exactly what has been presented. However, it is the stuff that happens in between the beginning and the end that will really intrigue viewers.

"The Beach Bum" is a nice , weird type of comedy-drama movie. Maybe it is the weird elements that some people will not be able to understand, the only reason that they will not enjoy it. Those who understand weird and dark comedy-dramas, will love it.

Matthew McConaughey is the main lead hero, and definitely the highlight of this movie. His performance shines brightly enough in this eccentric role that was given to him in this oddly funny movie titled "The Beach Bum". Matthew plays a lazy writer who spends most of his time smoking weed, having sex, and drinking. He is known by the name of Moondog, and lives life by following his own rules.

This movies attempts to convey the fact that we should continue to enjoy our everyday life despite the common obstacles and tragedies such as death, poverty, loss and so on. The director of "The Beach Bum" (Korine, who made the much appreciated "Spring Breakers") is more concerned with showing people's life experiences, instead of delving deeper and doing character development and so on ; I believe there is nothing wrong in doing that. At least, there should be a few directors like Korine who make movies that helps the viewers to unwind, relax, enjoy watching a movie, and just have a good time.

"Five Feet Apart" is a good and decent movie because it attempts to present the fact that love can happen anytime, anywhere, and in any condition - even if two people are suffering from a life-threatening disease. The main characters in this romantic-drama are played by Cole Sprouse and Haley Lu Richardson.

Both the main characters suffer from Cystic Fibrosis (CF) - a terminal illness that limits their lifespan. "Five Feet Apart" has been more authentic in showing the everyday problems and experiences that people suffering from CF have to deal with ; the therapies, vesting, the G tubes, the o2 , surgeries, the isolation, and so on. Of course, it is a movie, not a documentary - thus it is not one hundred per cent accurate. After all, movies are supposed to have at least some entertainment value. However, I really like the main theme that the makers of "Five feet apart" are trying to convey ; the lesson that love can strike anyone, anywhere, anytime - no matter what your age or your health condition is . A brief moment of love is worth a huge lifetime.
