The Rookie: Revelations (2021)
Whiners on display
I've been watching The Rookie since season 1 and I love the show. It has changed this season and that's great because the world has changed! I continue to love this show. It has evolved as does all human beings. People aren't complaining about the acting but the stories. I'm sure I'm going to get all kinds of down votes for this but you all with the 1 votes are whiny racists and sexists who can't stand that you aren't supreme and your egos aren't being stroked. What this has shown is how many of you slime balls have crawled out from under your rocks.
The Rookie: Lockdown (2021)
Great Episode
This episode had so many "Oh" moments!! Kept me on the edge of my seat! I've LOVED this whole season. I appreciate how they are telling the stories of the challenges and heart of police officers. I love how they show both the good and bad police. It's so important. Thank you ABC, producers, writers, directors, cast and crew for being brave to address these issues fairly and openly. You've gotten some flak for it. I want you to know I appreciate this show!
The Rookie: Now and Then (2020)
The show does well with portraying PTSD
Before last night's episode I think The Rookie writers did well portraying people with PTSD! And they continued in last night's episode with Lucy dealing with her trauma. PTSD does NOT get better overnight. It'll be interesting to see how they go forward with both Lucy and Wesley's PTSD. What I also love about this show is that there are surprising twists that you don't expect. Saw a whole other side to Henry and Abigale. Nolan's is a great dad. Of course, some cases are unrealistic for the drama, but most real cops thinks many of the scenarios are accurate.
The Rookie: Day of Death (2020)
Suspenseful
Great episode!! I didn't want to miss one minute because you just never knew what was going to happen. This episode was as powerful as Greenlight was last season!
The Rookie: Clean Cut (2019)
Alan and Nathan together again!
I really enjoyed seeing Mal and Wash together again. Nathan and Alan have such great chemistry! The way the story progressed we just might see Ellroy back in other episodes! I hope so. I loved Chen fighting for Bradford and the comedy of West being high! Hilarious. Some people have complained about the opening scene with the truck but I thought it was smart! Why not include it in the narrative? Nolan is fixing up his house and needs a truck. Heck, it saved a couple minutes of advertising time for the show. Makes perfect sense!
The Rookie: Fallout (2019)
Strong emotions
This episode had me at the edge of my seat. Not because of the missile, I knew that was a false alarm. Heck it happened in Hawaii in January 2018 and wasn't found to be a false alarm for 38 mins and there was panic! People have complained that this episode was unrealistic. Ummm, no it wasn't! However, the exciting part of this episode was NOT the missile attack but rather the various responses to impending death on the characters. Great emotional responses and acting. I loved it. Don't listen to the naysayers. It was a great episode and I thank all the cast, crew, producers, writers and director.
The Rookie: Warriors and Guardians (2019)
Great Episode
The new TO is a badass and I like how Nolan stood up to her! This season has had great writing and character development. I'm really enjoying The Rookie this year!
The Rookie: Homefront (2019)
Another great episode
Like all episodes there was increased insight into the TOs and/or Rookies. This episode developed interaction between Lucy and Tim which was rather funny and the more serious background story of Talia. That story will carry over to the next episode. I really love Talia! Then there was Nolan who was being sued by a bystander who is obviously out to get an easy payout. Problem is John didn't trust his very young and very young looking lawyer (I swear he looks 17) who was doing his first case. So John made a nuisance of himself because he was insecure and scared but he almost lost his care. Definitely made it hard on his lawyer! Before the judge could make a decision Nolan had to run and find Talia. To his credit after the case was won because he couldn't sabotage his own defense, Nolan apologized to his young lawyer. Another great episode with great acting from everyone. This show may be unrealistic but hey, this is TV so it's suppised to be entertainment.
The Rookie: The Shake Up (2019)
Hard to follow last week's episode
Last episode was so shocking, exciting and emotional that this week was a bit of a let down. However, when I look at it without comparing it has merit. It continues to develop the backstories, especially Chen interacting with her father and Jackson. Some people are upset about him being gay but 10% of the population is so that doesn't bother me at all. The show is trying to reach a broad audience. Yes there was a jerk white Captain. I've worked under many of them and, as in real life, the Peter Principle was in play. Promote him until he can't cause too much damage. I loved the interaction between Bradford and Nolan. Bradford gave great advice, there was a little bit of humor (thanks Nathan), and mutual respect was shown. I was also surprised by interaction between John and Jessica. Great chemistry and some groundwork laid: she'll only be able to see John a few days a month. Interestingly enough, John looked insecure. Worried about being compared to a Navy Seal? Don't worry Nolan, she did pick you, you know!
The Rookie: Greenlight (2019)
Fantastic
OMG what a great episode. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time! This show just gets better and better. 😢
The Rookie: Manhunt (2019)
So exciting and so sexy
Great episode! Had me on the edge of my seat the whole episode! And that ending....phew
The Rookie: Plain Clothes Day (2019)
Fantastic episode
This was an exciting, suspenseful and surprising episode. Some of the action was predictable but others totally unexpected. IMO the best episode yet.
The Rookie: Heartbreak (2019)
Great Valentine's Day episode.
This episode demonstrated the many way people love others: stepson loving his stepmom, the tragedy of grief and lost love (Denise and her Marine husband and Tim and Isabel), love between coworkers and friends (love doesn't have to mean sex) and love between men and women and between men and men ( which has caused some strong feelings). This was the best Valentine's Day show because it's about showing love! It was tastefully done and the writers explored all the ways humans care for each other. I also noticed, not once was a gun fired!
The Rookie: Redwood (2019)
Behind the scenes when politician visits
This was a "quieter" episode-less constant action. This showed the behind the scenes effect when a high profile visitor comes to a big city. No politics, it could have been any high profile visitor. I know it can be disruptive but this episode really showed how many factors need to be addressed to keep everyone safe. What I loved most about this episode is that you really get to see some background info about Bishop and West. And of course the everyday personal needs of the rookies. It was great! I love this show!
The Rookie: Flesh and Blood (2019)
Fun
This was a fun episode! Many funny periods but also some enlightening content about Grey and Anderson.
The Rookie: Time of Death (2018)
So many emotions
This was such an intense episode! So many emotions: from fun, funny, drastic, overwhelming, sad, scary, anxious..cliffhanger! This was by far the best episode yet! Nathan Fillion nailed it and I'm so appreciative of all the actors.
The Rookie: The Ride Along (2018)
I'm sold on this show!
I know I sound like a broken record but I'm really enjoying this show! The character development, the fast pace, the excitement! Next week's show looks like it's addressing a very serious issue in our society these days! A week is entirely too long!
The Rookie: The Hawke (2018)
Chen "separating" from Nolan?
I really enjoy this show especially as the back stories of the TOs are developed. Over the last two episodes I've noticed that Chen appears to be separating emotionally from Nolan. In last week's episode after Nolan brought the unconscious boy who had drowned to the paramedics Chen went to the young Paramedic and not Nolan. Last night after both Bradford and Nolan had been punched by Hawke she went to Bradford's side not Nolan's. I'm hoping it's just an "act" because I really liked the Chen/Nolan relationship. I'm interested in how these characters progress and develop. Lots of action this episode!
The Rookie (2018)
Full of action, characters, hazing and Nathan Fillion!
I was pleasantly surprised by the Pilot! It was fast paced and focused on the Rookie/TO combination so the show would cut from one team to another. They each had their own crime call but joined in a combined call which brought Nolan/Bishop team and Chen/Bradford team together to catch the bad guy. Which gave Bishop a hint of something!
There was a hint of romance between Nolan and Chen. There's at least a 15 years age difference but that doesn't bother me at all! It was tastefully done: fond looks and a kiss. Tastefully done!
There was hazing. Sgt Grey irritated me a bit, however, if Nolan persists and rises above he'll gain the respect of his peers and superiors. It reminded me of Army boot camp. Hopefully Grey will drop his biases and look at Nolan's age as an asset not a hindrance. I'm interested in HIS backstory. Maybe it'll explain his actions. I hope it'll be given in an episode.
Lastly Nathan! He's able to express emotions so well with his facial expressions! Love his acting.
Yep, I'll be watching this show!

The Rookie: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (2018)
Peeling the onion
I'm loving this show. With every new episode I'm learning more about the characters of the rookies and their TOs, like peeling an onion. I'll rewatch it for the little nuances.
The Rookie: Crash Course (2018)
Jane
I really enjoyed this episode. With every action scene, there was a "rule" or lesson Nolan had to learn as a rookie. I loved the additional focus on Officer West. He's not a coward, at least when there guns aren't involved. It was nice to see Nolan out of his wool uniform and in a tank top!
As always I loved the humor Nathan brings to all of his roles. I liked this better than the pilot.

Take Two (2018)
So much like Castle but missing the subtle humor.
I watched the Pilot of Take Two and was disappointed, Maybe unfairly. The premis is the same and the roles were reversed so it's hard not to compare Take Two to Castle. So I will compare the two pilots. There was a case, not well developed in my mind and the interaction between the actress and the uninterested P.I. instead of subtle little grins we get eye rolls and squealing in delight! Ugh
Small Similarities to Castle: a picture of the crime scene, a phone ringing at a really bad time and there's a kiss on the cheek but without the snarky stealing of evidence.
After watching tonight I really appreciate the many nuances of Nathan Fillion's facial expressions! They can tell a whole story without words! And nothing can replace "I don't want the body, just the pictures" and his little grin when Beckett storms out of interrogation!
I like MilMar but not sure I like this show.
