The Harder They Fall (1956)
Humph playing Humph
The producer said let's get Humphrey Bogart for the main role. Because he can light a cigarette, then another, then give some words of wisdom, then light another cigarette. It wasn't Humphrey Bogart acting the role of whatever he was, but Humphrey Bogart acting like Humphrey Bogart.
Deep End (1970)
Take a plunge into the 'Deep End'. Weirdly amazing!
I'm trying to wonder how you can make a film about a rundown public swimming pool, a female attendant, a young lad who develops a huge crush on her, a big blond woman who wants the young lad, a lost diamond ring, a married man who is plonking the female attendant into one of the best films that is in my personal top 20!! Take a plunge into the Deep End! It's Great!
Young Frankenstein (1974)
Carry on Frankenstein at its worst!
Is this from the same director who made The Producers? I cannot believe it! A totally wooden production with telegraphed 'comical' situations that are strung out until strangled that might perhaps bring a chuckle to a bored five year old. Totally beyond belief as a 'comedy' film and just an embarrassment.
The Deadly Affair (1967)
When your in love with a beautiful women everything else is secondary.
I think James Mason played the cuckold husband, the hurt, the hurt, the love, the love, forever intertwined. I could almost feel his heart ache. How he could carry this burden yet still perform his spying duty to the UK is a mystery in itself. Superb performance by him, Harry Andrews and Roy Kinnear. Superb film with London buses, taxi cabs, lousy weather and all.
Gambit (2012)
Not a bad Film but a familiar couple!
Approx halfway through the film I realized what was nagging me that was all rather familiar?.... but of course!.... it was Inspector Clouseau (Colin Firth) getting punched on the nose 3 times, loosing his trousers, getting a glass jar stuck on his hand, getting stranded ten floors up on a window ledge, whilst Dreyfus (Alan Rickman) hated him and wanted rid of him at all costs. There was a woman in it too, Cameron Diaz, while Tom Courtenay kept popping in and out. But not a bad film.
