American Antichrist (2018)
This is not a movie, but sad joke
Let's get this out of the way, I was asked by Dakota Ray (Bailey) to review this movie and I informed him that the review would not be too positive. He then let me know that is it wasn't going to be a good review, don't post it. He then explained that he only wanted positive reviews, because he wanted good publicity for the movie. I explained that I only review films the way I see them and am not a "Yes Man". He continued to say to me that he's an autour and I wouldn't understand his "art". I asked if it's art when you decide your color filtration of the film is a puke green color. I then informed him that I'm sorry, but the movie will be going up on the day after Christmas Eve and it will not be a positive review. He then said and I quote, "Foul language, and decided to block me. I've reviewed quite a few movies in my life and there has been some that have not been great. I've only been asked to not post twice, but this is the first time that I've ever really had a problem with one director and that was Dakota Ray. I believe the other review for this movie by Mydarkdesire is done by Dakota Ray as well. This was an incoherent mess with an ugly green color filtration, a continuous mumbling narration by the director and a story that when in no certain direction and left you asking the question, "what did I watch?". If you're in for a bad movie, this is it. You may not laugh at it like The Room, but you will get a chuckle or two. This was a sad excuse for a horror film
Who's Watching Oliver (2017)
Oliver's my new favorite killer
Who's Watching Oliver is a film I've been waiting to see since early 2017. There was no long trailer that gave you any spoilers to the film & that's what got me interested in seeing this even more. I have to say the film did not disappoint me at all. For a lot of the horror films, the idea of the mommy issue is no new subject to the audience, but this movie really switched it up & the performance of Oliver played Russell Geoffrey Banks is astonishing. I usually don't have sympathy for the killer, but you feel such compassion for him, it makes you understand and enjoy the film more. This is probably my favorite horror film of the year & will most likely go down as a cult classic Highly recommended.
Carnage Road (2000)
What a horrible waste of time
Max Cerchi does not know how to direct a good film. He has also scammed a lot of people of money. I actually did not know where the story was going. avoid this movie at by all means
Kendall Ransom: Bounty Hunter (1998)
I feel like I died inside
What did I watch....seriously. Someone please tell me what did I watch
Slew Hampshire (2013)
They spent 300,000 on this!?!?!....Holy sh*t storm, Batman! This was bad
If you're into seizures & anal male rape, then this is for you. The premise of mythological, cannibalistic vikings still alive to this day, waiting to take down hunters in the woods, that sounds like a great concept, if done right. The premise of four "friends" going on a road trip up to Canada to a strip club, but along the way, become victims in a group of hunters' twisted little game, has been seen before. If done right, the film can work. Create a film where vikings must battle a horrific creature...sounds OK. Now what happens when you put all of it together, you have a cluster f**k premise. Flood Reed, writer & director created a film that some call "what independent horror is meant to be". All I see is a waste of $300,000 & the fact editors can make or break your film. There's apparently gory scenes in this film, but you can't see them, because they're on the screen for half a second & it's flashed away. A lot of the scenes have a shaky cam feel, with a color depletion to them and this is when the characters are just talking. The major problem with the movie is Flood Reed, himself. There's a part of the film where his character & Bro (even the name is bad) are tied to trees and discussing their woes & disdains. That was actually an impressive conversation they had, because it didn't suck. Speaking of suck, there is a massive male gay rape aspect in this film. Flood may have done this for the "shock" value, but it just came off as a concern as to how he feels in real life. A true waste of time.
Daddy's Little Girl (2014)
A hidden Aussie revenge gem
I was just able to finish watching this Australian revenge flick and was shocked to see how so many people are able to pan this movie. Not sure why. The film portrayed itself as a "what would you do" situation pertaining to a brutal murder. Daddy's Little Girl tells the story of Derek, a man whose recently divorced and has joint custody of their six year old daughter Georgia. Derek & his estranged wife are at odds and things go from bad to tragedy when Georgia is kidnapped in the middle of the night & is later found brutally murder. Derek can only start picking-up the pieces of his life after six months of dealing with this agony and since the police have not been able to determine who killed his daughter, Derek starts his own investigation, which leads him to the monster that destroyed his world. From here, Derek determines what's the best punishment for the killer and so begins the decent into madness for Georgia's father. The rest of the film is brutally disturbing...I loved it. The is outstanding and Michael Thomson's Derek delivers an performance that communicates to the audience how much pain he has been put through to reach this point of insanity, since no normal human being could be so creative in torture. Incredible work by Chris Sun & the crew at Slaughter FX Production company.
Cluster (2013)
The Pains Of A Migrane
D. Ryan Mowry visual portrait of a migraine that just won't go away is effortlessly done in this short film. With only eight minutes to demonstrate the agony the victim is going through, Mowry allows the viewer a peek into the male's state of mind. While no words are used in this film, the actor expresses his disdain for the suffering his body is putting him through. My only problem with this is the length. Eight minutes is far too short of time to allow the audience an understanding of what actually just happened to the victim. The actor portraying Pain should be given more options for "torturing" Male, and thus having the audience a better opportunity to appreciate the anguish that Male is being put through. Highly recommended
To Jennifer (2013)
A road trip's descension towards hell
James Cullen Bressack has been able to create another independent horror gem in the form of "To Jennifer". This "found footage" is a heartbreaking tale that deals with the story of Joey and his concern that his girlfriend, Jennifer, of two years, is cheating on him. With the help of his cousin, Steve, and Steve's best friend Martin, they take a cross-country journey to find the answers to Joey's questions. On the way, they find action, adventure and maybe a tranny. Throughout the film, you get to have a better understanding of who these people are, as well as Jennifer. This as far as I will give towards any synapses and there will be no spoilers, since I encourage many others to check out this little indie horror that could. Once again, James is able to give the viewer an interesting characters in the form of Joey, Steve and Martin, all of which you do not want to take a road trip on with. This is a definite recommendation and I would encourage horror fans to give James's films a buy. Support independent horror.
