Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
star wars rip off
Just another tom cruise saves the world movie, same as always. It's a direct rip off of the original Star Wars movie, screaming down a canyon to an exhaust port that needs to be hit with precision munitions, the mechanics so fall back on faith, Luke Skywalker did it better. And what with using out of date F18's. There are drones out there that can do it cheaper and quieter, and the special effects weren't that great either, more blow'm up for super patriots and the characters certainly weren't credible, a bunch of high school super jocks overloaded on machismo.
As has been said before, tom cruise never grew past 35
glad I didn't pay to see it, good way to waste 2 hours though.
Two Weeks to Live (2020)
Arya gets her gun
Felt this was a bit like an Arya Stark make over (one move in an episode 1 fight move was straight out of GoT, but for the most part it was clean fun that got complicated near the end
Mrs. America (2020)
Phyllis Schlafly - American Con
Ms Schlafly comes across as a con, using half truths and outright lies, dismissal of facts as lies and fabrication as truths, the stock in trade of many political figures today.
Ms Blanchett does an excellent job of portraying Schlafly's duplicity and charisma, her ability to manipulate the moment, switch her feelings on and off in a second. and switching alliances as needs dictate, casting aside even the most loyal follower..While she buries her true feelings and emotions behind a smile and curt, submissive laugh. All personality traits of a high functioning psychopath and cult leader. She didn't lead a movement of conservative women opposed to the ERA, she led a cult of women willing to believe her every word and follow her anywhere.
She cleared the path for Reagan and opened the road for Trump thirty-six years later/
The irony seems to be that the ERA stood for everything Schlafly believed in and she was willing to destroy.
The Stranger (2020)
truly binge worthy
I was a little hesitant about continuing to watch the series during the first episode, got drawn in further on the second and couldn't stop watching after the third. Plot after plot unfolds with amazing regularity, a regularity that is guaranteed to draw you in, Threads of of seemingly connected inquiry that aren't coupled together with unconnected threads that are, many of them having no conclusion at all.
Top up the snacks and enjoy
Fresh Eggs (2019)
Escape to the Country meets Wentworth
Brilliantly funny and dark at the same time. Loaded with characters you love to hate and a pair of hapless 'fresh eggs' who want to escape the urban life the series follows a naive and novice pair of back to the lander's on a roller-coaster ride of misadventure
Enjoy
