The Awakening (I) (2011)

Don't see this if you're wanting a scary horror movie.
19 November 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I think a lot of people go to view this movie as a scary, jumpy horror movie and fall into that trap. This movie is different, it's not focused on the horror or the scare, it's focused on the story of Florence Cathcart (played by the fantastic Rebecca Hall) and her drive to prove that spirits are not real and are just 'naughty little troublemakers'. However, she is not really trying to prove spirits aren't real, she's actually looking for a sign that they are real, and her dead, nearly-fiancée has passed over.

It is a really good movie, with a great story, great acting and a great big twist at the end. For some people this movie drags on too much and a lot of it doesn't matter in the end. For me, I loved every second of the story, and the ending was just superb. The twist, when it is revealed, really will make you go 'wait, what?' and I think the movie is worth watching just for the twist.

As I said in the summary, do not go to see this if you're wanting a scary horror movie, or a horror movie really, go watch it for the fantastic storyline and superb acting by all involved.

Grey's Anatomy: Sanctuary (2010)
Season 6, Episode 23
10/10
Had to write a review for this!
10 July 2011
Warning: Spoilers
This is undoubtedly one of the single best episodes of any television drama series, ever.

The episode has you gripped from beginning to end (ok, so most of Grey's Anatomy episodes do!) but this one has you on tenterhooks waiting to see whom will be shot next.

The episode is brilliant because it gets rid of some of the newer, duller characters but actually makes you care about them - especially Dr. Charles Percy, because it involves characters you do care about, in this case Dr. Miranda Bailey.

Absolutely stunning episode, superb acting all around. I can't see them ever topping this episode, but I look forward to seeing if they do.

It isn't *that* bad.

I don't see why everyone has such a problem with this movie - I thought it was okay, it wasn't the best movie I've ever seen, and it didn't have the best acting ever, but it certainly wasn't the worst movie ever.

The ending wasn't too good, but the movie wasn't too shabby, the storyline was good and it proved to keep me entertained for the full two hours. I learnt a lot about 50 cent during the movie, even though I'm not a fan of rap and/or 50 cent himself, I still enjoyed it.

The movie gives you inspiration, if 50 cent can go through a lot and come out of it a billion dollar rapper at the end, it makes you think that you could probably do something on the same level.

You don't have to like rap and/or 50 cent to enjoy this movie and read into it. If you enjoyed the trailer, don't let the bad reviews put you off, that's what I did, yet I liked the movie.
