Srpski film (2010)
Where to start...
..start by not watching this movie.
I read the (spoiler free) reviews and it seemed like this was going to be a fairly hard to watch horror movie. I LOVE horror movies and they seldom, save for a few cases, leave too much of a lasting impact.
I write that first because I know there are many like me who will see some of the reviews and think 'oh it can't be THAT bad, challenge accepted!'
It IS that bad. Do not watch this movie. DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE.
DO. NOT. WATCH. THIS. MOVIE.
If you read THIS review and think 'challenge accepted' - go read some of the spoiler reviews, or look at the parents guide for then open the hidden comments.
There is nothing redeemable about this movie. The cinematography is not worthy of praise. The acting is terrible. Some of the things they have committed to film, regardless that it is 'fiction' should get people in prison.
This absolute atrocity is the product of a hugely diseased mind.
Shock for shock sake, all over the place and just generally hideous.
Avoid at all costs.
The Rookie: Feds (2022)
Garbage, absolute bin fire
I cannot fathom who, having watched the episodes of the Rookie with this character in them, thought 'hey, she should get a spin off!' - whoever it was should be sectioned..
The main issue with this is that Niecy Nash can't act, honest to god, she is among he worst I have ever seen (even in Dahmer where, whilst everyone else shone, she was basically the same character she is here, and in everything I've seen her, ie Niecy Nash).
The acting is bad enough but the constant need to put a 50+yr old woman in cleavage busting outfits is just bizarre.
Avoid at all costs. ALL COSTS!!!!!!
If you want to watch something better, go and set your bin on fire.
Hidden Assets (2021)
How on Earth has this scored so highly????
Let me start off by saying that this was STRONGLY RECOMMENDED to me and so I went in with high expectations and, almost from the outset, I was scratching my head wondering if it was a joke recommendation....
The acting is absolutely terrible to the point of, again, thinking someone is going to appear with a camera telling me I've been had...
The main detective (the girl from the commitments) is absolutely woeful and constantly aware - and showing it - of where the camera is, but she's by far and away the best actor in this mess.
There's a character called Norah, I'm not sure if she's Emer's superior or her PA (if you watch it you'll know what I mean) but all she does, and I mean ALL SHE DOES is stare vacantly whilst rolling her eyes like one of those dolls you get at a fairground.
Every cliche in the book is deployed and the production values are non existent. Went into this relatively excited to be getting some great TV and, having just finished episode 3 (and I'll finish the damn lot to see what happens) I cannot see this improving beyond a, very generous, 3/10.
The Mandalorian: Chapter 6: The Prisoner (2019)
Garbage
One of the worst episodes of television I've ever sat through. DEFINITIVELY the worst acting I think I've ever sat through, with the possible exception of 'Holy Motors', which is by far the worst movie I've ever watched.
I am baffled by the high scoring reviews for this as I cannot fathom where they have come from? The woman cutting about growling like an animal is singularly the worst bit of acting I have ever seen, the sad part is that not many others are much better in a very predictable, bland and utterly devoid of redeeming qualities episode.
Have been wholly disappointed by the whole of season 1, to the point that i've, as yet, been unable to even bring myself to watch S2, but this one stands out by a mile as an absolutely honking pile of dreck.
Never Let Go (2015)
Honking mess
How did this win an award???? The main actress can't act, absolutely hopeless. The camera work is laughable, the supporting actors are just as bad, if not worse, than the main woman.
I cannot stress enough, DO NOT WATCH THIS GUFF.
I can only conclude that the positive reviews are from friends and family as this is a honking pile of drivel.
Honest Thief (2020)
Trailer: I've stolen $9m from 8 banks... and nobody knows who I am.....
So why do you need to confess to anyone then?
Fails at the first hurdle, absolutely no need for him to hand himself into anyone as nobody has any clue who he is. The rest of it is your normal Neeson stuff and he's always watchable, but the overall premise is nonsense.
NEXT!
Fleabag (2016)
Sad, Joyous, Uplifting, Witty Genius
First thing I'll say, to put things into context, is that I watched all 12 episodes in less than 24 hours.
It's a genuinely very warm and funny program with characters who are absolutely well rounded and fantastic, some of them are absolutely horrific individuals but that's part of the joy of the show: it feels pretty real.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge is an absolute star turn as the titular character and her timing, both comic and dramatic, is absolutely exceptional.
This is not your average sitcom/romcom style fare, I assure you. Watch it, it is an, at times bittersweet, absolute delight.
Feardotcom (2002)
Absolute and utter toilet!
in fact - go and sit in the bathroom and watch the toilet flush, it'll have better character development, a more thorough plot and waaay less guff acting.
I can honestly say that this is one of the worst films I have ever sat through, and how it even made it to DVD I will never know.
If I could have given it a negative rating I would have.
I'm now off to the toilet, where, as I empty my bowels, I will come up with a better script/plot/story before flushing it away.
Avoid this "movie" at all costs - unless you are watching it just to see how bad it really is.
Walk Away and I Stumble (2005)
Very sad & moving....
don't normally watch tearjerkers much, but as this was penned by the Spooks team I thought I would give it a go, and I am glad I did.
It was thought provoking, sometimes sad, sometimes funny and very moving...choking back tears at times! If you get a chance, watch it, as it was very well done indeed.
Oh, and if you're thinking that the grass may be greener outside your marriage/relationship (where you ARE actually happy but maybe considering straying...or have been tempted..) WATCH IT IMMEDIATELY.
I'd never rated Tamzin Outhwaite much as an actress, or Julie Graham for that matter, but they were both excellent. My only complaint would be the kinda syrupy bit near the end with the daughter and Claire...but that's a minor complaint...
