Lansky (2021)
Has a potential, but I found it boring
One of those movies where trailer is better than the
movie itself, actually. Harvey Keitel gives an award winning performance, no doubt about that. But the story is not very well told, it's quite shallow and not engaging at all. IMHO, something's just missing. But don't let my review put you off. Try to watch it and see if you like it, as I may simply have high expectations when it comes to gangster/mob movies based on true events (I mean, Good Fellas, for example is a masterpiece).
I Care a Lot (2020)
Feels incomplete and shallow
A promising start that turns into a shallow, illogical story very soon. I mean, no one can persuade me that one woman manages to escape Russian mafia so easily (and them being incapable of getting rid of her and her lover). Please, that fact alone is insulting my intelligence.
The acting is very good and I did kind of like the ending because we forget about the guy from the beginning throughout the movie, but other than that, it's nothing special. At some point, I thought we were to root for her. Who do we root for here? And they become partners? Oh, man. It just felt undeveloped and with lots of holes story wise.
Gran Torino (2008)
Eastwood is a genius
I was never a fan of Eastwood in cowboy movies, (probably because I don't like those kinds of movies) but I simply LOVE him as a director! This movie is a little masterpiece. If you haven't seen it yet, do yourself a favor and watch it asap. The way he tells a story is so warm, so human. You will love this movie for sure.
Capone (2020)
Nothing happens
Apart from Tom's acting, which was good, there was nothing interesting about this movie. It was very slow and I couldn't connect with it at all. At times it felt like Matt Dillon was the main character. Sometimes slow movies are good. Like Agatha Christie books that are turned into movies. This one isn't, really. I was waiting for the story to unfold, but there was nothing. I love Tom Hardy and I am giving the movie 1 star only because he is in it. It deserves zero, otherwise. Such a disappointment.
Gisaengchung (2019)
Mind blowing
A true masterpiece, 10/10! I don't think I will get to watch a better movie soon!
A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood (2019)
Truly wonderful movie
I didn't know what to expect of this movie at first. It turned to be such a wonderful story. We all need Mr. Rogers in our lives. We need more movies like this, as well.
Murder on the Orient Express (2017)
Disappointing on so many levels
Being a huge fan of Agatha Christie, this movie was such a disappointment for me. Many great actors, but all this movie made me feel was regret for giving it a chance in the first place. All I could see was his oversized moustache. Also, the mountains in Bosnia do not look like Alps at all. And even though it was cold and snow outside, they had no steam coming out of their mouth. My favorite Poirot is and always will be Mr. David Suchet.
