What Happens Later (2023)
Not recommended
I don't recommend this movie at,all even though I watched the whole thing. The reason being solely to wrote this review fairly. It wouldn't be fair to write the review if I stopped watching after 20min which what I wanted to do.
These kind of movies with very few characters and one location need to be really interesting to attract the audience through out the mo ie. This unfortunately is lacking in this movie. There is no particular chemistry between the two characters. The old story that has been milked over and over is the pivot of why the broke up. No reason for them to fall in love again.
The character of the wlman supposed to be this free spirit kind of hippester the devil may care one but unfortunately again that was a big fail from meg ryan to deliver. Similarly, the male character supposed to be this rasional almost up tight business guy who has logic before everything, again a big fail to deliver this.
I didn't feel one bit sympathy for these two who supposed to be having lost long love and discovering themselves again together.
I honestly see no quality in this movie, script, dialog, acting, music or directing.
Renfield (2023)
Smart movie with lots of funny and scary moments
I have never wanted to see a movie villain on the screen in any movie before, as much as I wanted to see more of Nicolas Cage on this movie.
Many people played Dracula in several movies before, but amazingly Nicolas Cage was able to give it a new dimension with his personality, fine acting and appearance.
As an audience, I really missed Nicolas Cage in the scenes that he was not there and I would wait for his parts hoping that he has more time on the screen.
The rest of the cast is chosen to match their characters and they did really well.
This is actually a pretty well put together horror (the gore type) and mixed with authentic original funny moments and situation comedy.
Nicholas Hoult did really well into convincing me that he is in fact what he claims to be. Awkwafina is hilarious as always. Brandon Scott Jones makes you laugh at almost anything he says, because the way he says them. Then the amazing Shohreh Aghdashloo which I think was a great chose for her role.
The only person I honestly did not think was funny is Ben Schwartz. I felt he was out of place and did not integrate into the atmosphere and the spirit of the movie. He failed a villain and failed to make me laugh either.
Totally recommend watching very amusing and fun.
The Rig (2023)
not what I expected
Knowing that people working on offshore do not dress, talk, work like that ruined it for me. Yea they show people wearing helmets and reflexing vest but all other basic safety that are applicable in all oil rig seems to be missing in this show. Knowing for sure that anyone behaves like they show us in these episodes will immediately sent home with a huge scandal and failure in his or her carrier to ever work again on any rig onshore or offshore.
Now when it comes to acting it is very basic with no real emotions. Dialogs are more of an internal thought of the characters that in most cases do not really make me want to listen more to it.
When I finished the available episodes, I completely forgot about what was happening and not one single scene stayed in mind.
Who Killed Santa? A Murderville Murder Mystery (2022)
17 minutes in and it was enough of this garbage
I turned it off less than 20 min in. To be honest I was excited to watch this movie because I like Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Sean Hayes. Then it was very disappointing. It really hurts to see them do these kinds of silly and not in a funny way movies. Probably actors need money to live too. The dialog is not funny. Lots of sexual references that are disgusting more than funny.. naked fat guy with his ballz and butt-hole showing not funny. After a few minutes watching, I felt like I fell into a swamp and needed a shower. Yuck! I hope they can make something more interesting in the future all the three of them together. Not worth it.
Ambulance (2022)
this is comically bad :D
This got to be the worst movie Jake Gyllenhaal ever made. The storyline seems to be written by a kid without imagination.
Dialog between character is predictable and boring. All the milked old clichés that you can think of are in this movie.. it makes you cringe.
Not even the technical or medical stuff is remotely correct or believable. I honestly wanted to stop watching at certain points because there is a limit of awfulness that I couldn't tolerate.
For example, the ambulance medic was doing CPR on the guy while he still has his bullet proof vest. Or when the cops says that the robbers are good they hacked the computers. Like how and when did that happen?! And seriously?! These robbers are smart!
I think people who make bad movies are just short on money. After all, we all have bills to pay. Shout out to the photography though this is mainly why I gave 3 stars.
Infinite Storm (2022)
this is very poor representation to a very heroic story
Although it is based on a true story, the movie makes it look really ridiculous, boring and makes the character looks like whinny little girl who never hiked before.
As someone who hikes in the mountains a lot during different seasons, I think, the movie made it look like she went "walking" for a few hours in the mountain then she started to struggle and ran out of water, etc as if she was there for days or weeks.
The movie should have showed the audience why this situation is particularly dangerous and how someone can get easily lost in a well known area when a storm hits. Those who do not know these facts and not into hiking will be confused how a trained hiker is struggling the way she is!
The movie wants us to sympathize without showing us how dramatic the situation is. Most shots are close one and we do not get to see how horrible the situation is and we do not get to fear for our characters safety. I do not know if this was actually filmed outdoors, but everything screams "this was filmed in a very narrow place"!
Bad dialogue and zero acting from the dude playing the stranded man. My best guess is some actors just need to make ends meet and therefore, accept such badly written badly executed projects.
Encounter (2021)
not sci-fi, not action not even a thriller
The movie category is a lie same as the guy lying in the movie all the time. It's all about a guy with mental illness who did not take his meds one day so then he decided to kidnap his kids, but don't worry the kids are safe. One star for lying to the audience.
The Unforgivable (2021)
sometimes the smallest twist can make you cry
Up until the very end of the movie you'd think this story is going exactly as expected. The lonely girl who suffers loss of parents and has to take care of her sister. Then she turns into the crazy woman who kills someone unintentionally, go to prison, suffers in prison, go out, suffers on the outside, try to find her sister, acts crazy, people know she's crazy, she suffers some more, etc. Etc. But then there is that small twist that uncovers the truth and then you feel you want to stretch your arms and hug her. She suffered enough. Also shout out to the make up guys who managed to make sandra bullock looks ugly, that must have taken hours.
Bruised (2020)
Halle Berry what happened?!
It is sad to see the woman who made so many great movies not only acts but also directs this garbage. There wasn't a good thing about this movie. The acting is really awful, dialogue is so boring, even photographing the fight scenes was so shaky and confusing. I hope Halle Berry makes a better movie soon. 3 stars for the effort.
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
What went wrong?
I kept watching and watching and telling myself that it will get better. The movie is a joke and the plot doesn't make sense.
Acting is bad and storyline is childish. It is more of a kids story where you find object that grants you the power to make your wish come true. Of course things go out of hand. Then the hero saves the day and restores the world from the mess that was made.
The movie did not get anything right of the 80s time especially Egypt at the 80s. Sometimes you think you are in the 70s. Sometimes you think you are in 20s even, but not 80s at all. There are no prince or princess in Egyptin the 80s. Also people did not dress like that and there is no way in hell you could call USA from a paid phone in Egypt at any time. Amr Wakid should have told them that!
I am not so sure what went wrong and how this awful movie can be a sequel to the great movie we watched before. Is it the writer? Is the director?
Even when it comes to the characters, it seems that they have forgotten some events and details happened in the first movie. Even the character of Steve seems surprised from things that he saw before and surprised from things that of course existed in some form at his time.
Some parts were supposed to be comedy and funny but it was just silly. Some parts were just written to drain the sympathy of the audience and were supposed to be romantic, but they turned out to be just "cheap display of fake emotions"!
It isn't worth the theater tickets.
Paranormal (2020)
Could have made it epic but they chose to make it bad!
After watching season one. I found so many lost opportunities. In the original stories, Refaat is a worried man not a sad one. He is lovable and cares about people. Although he keeps saying he wants to be left alone, he runs to help people not caring about the danger. He is sarcastic but not disrespectful. In the show, he is sad miserable old man.
They removed a lot of details that shows Maggi as a smart and funny person. She is also pretty. The series shows her character as flat dull woman with an ugly wig.
The elements of horror from the stories were effective and scary, but the show probably for financial purposes chose to go for mediocre effects and monsters that do not compare to what the stories had. They could not match what came out of the imagination of the writer Dr. Tawfeek.
And the big disappointment was for the myth of incubus. This story happened to another guy and this guy sent his story to Dr. Refaat in a letter. The incubus story end was horrifying. And its environment and the place which it happened is so different from what they show. They chose to make it happen to Dr. Refaat passing the opportunity of making a real good horror episode.
Another disappointment is with the Cave guard story in the desert of Libya. This one in the original book will make the ice crawl on your back and will give you nightmares for a long time. But again they chose to make it a gorilla! So laughably bad.
The books were smoothly connected and we learnt about the time line from Refaat thoughts and notes before and after he tells us the main story. The show eliminated all that which made the show very shallow compared to the books. And made the episodes disconnected and confusing.
The love story between Refaat and Maggi is one of the best. It melts your heart. It is something unique and pure. In the show we don't feel any chemistry or lost love between those. We don't see Maggi as the sensitive yet tough, smart, funny woman that we met through the books.
If they stick more to the original books, they can make something much more better and much more scary.
3 stars just because they are ownering a great writer and because the show has his name on it.
Vivarium (2019)
What?
Can someone please watch this movie and tell me what was this about? Most boring... humm... can't call it a story, because there isn't one.
The Gentlemen (2019)
Really funny and good action
Hugh Grant, it was really good to see you in this movie. You are charismatic and funny. Please make more movies 😊
Extraction (2020)
Good action, sad action hero
I expected this movie to entertain me with some good action scenes, but I didn't expect the story to be also enjoyable this much. Some violence was too much for my taste so I had to skip it, especially related to violence towards kids. Action is new and the director used the small spaces really well. Car chase was also good. The only thing that I felt enforced into the story, is the death of his son. They had to give a good reason for why he is fighting so hard and risking his life so they came up with the story of the father who lost his kid and now he does that cause he doesn't care if he catches a bullet. If you want a few hours with popcorn and good movie, this is a good choice.
Underwater (2020)
So bad, I can't find words for a suitable title!
This movie is not making any sense. We have a group of people underwater for some reason we don't know why they are at that very far depth in this construction. The construction collapsed under what seems to be an earthquake, maybe, we don't know that for sure. Then we have some survivors who must leave the collapsed construction so they find some diving suits to wear. Now this is so laughable, because the suits are not good. Even the captain says "remember, these suits are dangerous ". I laughed a lot at this statement What the hell? Aren't these the survival suits? Or at least these are the suits that the crew use to do their jobs or dive to fix pipes! and the crew has almost no training on diving. So this crew who lives underwater got no training for swimming or diving and totally incompetent. What kind of work they do anyway? We don't know, because after 5 minutes in the movie we find ourselves in a disaster situation before we know anything about the characters, their motives, their backgrounds, etc. The dialogue between the actors is really plain stupid. A mechanic engineer is fixing computer and electronic stuff, a guy gets his technical info from anime, a girl that does nothing but screaming and a guy who was in the movie just to explode after 15 minutes. There isn't one part of this movie that does not underestimates the audiences' minds. Total joke. Not scary, not action, and not interesting. After 30 minutes I could see that this is a very bad movie, but I watched it all only to write this review.
Hooking Up (2020)
Not comedy not romantic not neccessary
In the middle of this movie I thought why the hell I am watching this? I didn't laugh not even once, it isn't romantic and certainly the actors have no charisma to keep me watching so I turned off. Don't waste your time
The Call (2013)
Great suspense
I put this movie on to watch while cleaning my room. After 10 or 15 minutes I couldn't do anything but sit on the edge of my chair and watch this movie while biting my nails. The actors are good and their facial expressions tell you that there a disaster is about to happen if it didn't happen yet. This movie transfers the tension of the situation right into your heart and you quickly feel that you or someone you love can be easily in the same situation. As the movie advances, you feel helpless and breathless. In some scenes I felt I wanted to stretch my arms and save the girl as she was about to be saved so many times, but it didn't happen and all is done in a logical way which made me totally crazy, because the danger was totally possible.
Yes Man (2008)
One of my favorite
I can't get bored of watching this movie over and over again. Although it is light comedy with a hint of romance, it touched me deeply and became one of the things that changed my life. This movie has a good message to pass and it wants to say something. the great thing is that the audience do not feel that there is a massage to absorb and they do not feel that they are being feed ideas or lectured. We follow the Yes man in his journey from being depressed and destroyed to being an open person and a free spirit. This is a life changing movie.
The Silence (2019)
Good horror movie and enjoyable
When I saw this movie trailer I thought it is a cheap repeatition of an original idea from another movie. However the storyline, the horror and the suspense in this movie from its start till the very end left me no room for comparison between this movie and the other one. This story is different and I enjoyed it a lot even though the horror did not make me jump out of my place more than two times. It's worth watching
Charlie's Angels (2019)
It's really a bad movie and the story doesn't make any sense
The movie had a story that does not make any sense. They break into a lab and take something then destory it in the way out whichaccomplish nothing. They are chased by unknown people for unknown reasons and trying to escape with unknown plan and going somewhere to more empty accomplishment. Nothing made sense. The parts that were supposed to be funy seemed really unnecessary and forced into the situation. Then of course the most close person to our characters had to be the one who betrayed them. So cliche. And the worst thing is that the action scenes are copied from other movies.
Cassanova Was a Woman (2016)
Funny
I had very little expectations for this movie and when it started I was expecting to skip it in the middle and not continue watching it, but to my surprise it was funny and some moments were hilarious.
Fighting with My Family (2019)
So funny from start to end
I really enjoyed this movie it has two of my favorite actors, Dwayne Johnson and Lena Headey. It is funny and the story is new.
The Good Wife (2009)
Great show
Almost everything about this show is great. Good short interesting stories in a stream of a long story involved crime and drama... good acting... and good characters.. I say almost because the weird wrong arabic writing in episodes where they show any written arabic language statement, it is all wrong. So seems like they were a bit lazy to ask someone to read those few statements and get them corrected.
So instead of being written from right to left all arabic words are reversed and letters are separated. No one writes arabic like that. It was just annoying.
Stranger Things (2016)
Great start, but....
Season 1 was great. Original idea, thrill and suspense. By the end of season 1 I was very curious to watch season 2 and to know what kind of danger we have and how it will be defeated, but then it got quickly boring. Although the characters became more sophisticated and we understand their motives, the danger became repetitive. It is same thing we faced before, we know how to fight it, we are confident that we will win. With that feeling as an audience, it was not interesting for me to continue watching because the how and the what for the story was kind of obvious. Skipped to last couple of episodes in season 3, it became even more boring. The danger is exactly the same it just evolved a bit and became bigger. Laughably, neither the police nor the military noticed that a giant creature is destroying the brand new city mall that every one was talking about for so long until punch of kids killed the giant. This is when police shows up. Then we have the Russians who kidnapped an american police officer under the nose of the police from the crime scene. From the look of it, season 4 is going to be about the same thing again... no thanks.
The Mummy (2017)
Awfully bad
I still think the mummy movies are so offensive to Egyptian culture. People who make these movies are so ignorant. They didn't even try to know how Egypt looked like in the past or now. So sad that Tom Cruise participates in such a crime. I think Egyptian government should sue these clowns.
