Teleios (2017)
The story is there
Sometimes, B-movies can escape reality and mimic they had decent budget and so on. This is not such a movie. The story is there, but it is kneecapped by a overall feeling of cheapness. It's a shame, a few nudges up and it would have been a reasonable good movie.
The Informer (2019)
Great crime thriller
Not perfect, but great movie overall. If at the end you have the feeling you're only 45 mins in, the movie did what it was supposed to do.
I could whine about some details not so plausible, but they never break the story. So great work for the whole crew.
6 Underground (2019)
Over the top in an annoying way
Everything is over the top in this movie. It can work in a comedy, but here it mostly annoyed me.
They used fancy directing techniques, but feels soulless synthetic.
They hired cheap discounter music producers, trying a Dust Brothers score giving me a serious 'meh' feeling.
Infini (2015)
Sci Fi blender
Limited budget done right.
My only negative point is, the script can't keep up the good promise it's building, in the final half hour. If these guys had the budget of one of the ultra boring new Star Wars movies, God knows what would have happened.
The blender references is actually a thumbs up. Take a bit of everything (horror, psychological and so on) and make it work. Love it.
The atmosphere is perfect, the entire movie, it's an art.
The acting is good, not stellar, but nobody drags the movie down, so the entire cast delivers. Enjoyed it. CG are good and support the movie and it's not a movie build around CG.
Whoever did the music of the movie, I was sublime.
Higher Power (2018)
Pure nonsense
Mediocre acting at best. I feared they could't figure out how to end the movie and would use God himself to solve it. They sort of avoided this outcome barely. Too much nonsense and loose ends.
How It Ends (2018)
Yes, it ends with an open ending...
I do like this movie! It's pretty good and has an open ending. The open ending is a storytelling technique not used that much anymore. You may be against it, but at least they got the balls to try it!
Battleship (2012)
How much did the navy pay Hollywood for this movie?
Every time an entity plays the self-glorification game; I feel aversion. Even if I were an American, I would dislike it. I don't mind a pro-navy movie, but if they can't stop bragging about themselves, things go downhill for me. The film could be so much more powerful if they didn't do that.
Left Behind (2014)
If this was Russian, we would call it propaganda!
I don't mind a movie with a message, but when you push it too hard, the message becomes propaganda. This movie is a 90-minute ad for the Catholic church, and we all did start using ad-blockers at some point, right?
Avatar (2009)
Could be better if it didn't push its message too hard
Above average fantasy & SF movie. Could be superb if it didn't push it's message too hard. I don't mind a movie with a message. But at times, Cameron pushes the message too hard and it feels like Greenpeace forced him to do it with a gun pointed at his head. It reminds me of the forced learning of the catechesis, that one didn't make much of a difference too.
Survivor (2014)
Not entertaining at all
I didn't finish the movie. At times, I had the feeling I was watching a Power Rangers episode. Disappointing.
