Nancy Grace is the devil!
22 July 2019
Boy, after all these years, the tragedy of the case just hits me in various ways. I did NOT follow the case / trial when it was happening but thought I had a general idea of what was going on but after watching this I'm blown away by how lax the investigation and court trial seemed to be.

Another really scary side note is how vested people were in the verdict when they didn't even know these people! Folks were behaving like they were at a sports game: cheering for the verdict. What the hell? A young mother had been murdered along with her unborn child, and their father was found guilty of the crime. What are you cheering for?

Some deep seated issues were on full display. Seems as though it is very likely Scott Peterson did not commit the murder. Although I must admit, if he didn't do it he has some of the worst luck ever!

Worth the Wait, Worth the time, Worth the $$$

I know folks have been talking about a James Brown biopic for years and I secretly hoped that it would not come to pass. I feared that it would be butchered in an attempt to "butts in the seats". I know folks need to make money but don't kill something wonderful in the process. This movie was WAY better than I had hoped. Kudos to Mick Jagger and a standing ovation for Mr. Chadwick Boseman.

I did not see "42" but the brotha knocked this one clean out of the park. Loved seeing Voila Davis, Octavia Spencer and my girl Jill Scott as well. Of course, the music was amazing! I couldn't get over how Boseman captured James Brown's pattern of speech, walk, dance moves, etc. This performance was electric. Now I have to go read, "The One" to find out how much was fact and how much was fiction.

If you have any interest whatsoever in JB music, catch this one!

Great movie, tough to watch
1 January 2014
I avoided going to see this movie for a few months but after I heard two reviewers discussing how great it was, I had to go see it. It was a fantastic movie although, as expected, very difficult to watch. One very impressive aspect was the different layers it brought out. Someone was really on top of their game! What an amazing movie effort for all involved.

I think that African-Americans will definitely see this movie in an entirely different context from others. As I watched in the theater I noticed people kept getting up and then returning. I wondered if it was a "nature break" or if some of scenes were a bit too intense. Either way, this movie is not to be missed.
