Strays (1991)
Truthful film based on well-documented truth: Cats are Evil
This film was written by Shaun Cassidy, a former Hardy Boy, so there's no questioning the authenticity of the behavioral science behind this film. Cats are evil. The Bible confirms this, as does every cartoon depicting the eternal battle between cats & dogs. Dogs are angels sent from Heaven to hold back the scourge of cats. This film is more of docudrama.
Critters: A New Binge (2019)
My 10-year-old niece loved it...and so did I.
My 10-year-old niece became a fan of the original Critters thanks to a brief run on Hulu, so when these mini-eps appeared on Shudder, I subscribed. Watched together, they form the length of a film. My niece - who has no attention span - watched all the eps in a row without turning on a second screen (game, phone, etc), as too many kids do these days. I found the show somewhat funny and sometimes clever. Production values are the equal parts 2-4, but with better Critter FX.
To Appomattox (2015)
Civil War was actually fought by unicorns and robots...
If the hilariously amateur concept art isn't proof enough, research proves this project is a fake. It's the dream project of a history fan posing as a TV producer. He's created Facebook pages, as well as other social media accounts, to fool people into thinking he's involved in an actual production. He probably uses this to pick up chicks at civil war reenactments.
The Predator (2018)
HIlarious, violent Shane Black-ish Predator
Basically, space monsters chase a hilarious group of misfit soldiers with lots of gore. It's not a horror flick where characters are picked off one by one in expected succession, and for that I am thankful. The soldiers are individuals, and the viewer is never confused as to who is who, etc. I like the first Predator, was bored by the second, enjoyed Predators, and I'm indifferent to the Alien vs. Predator films, but this one is better than AvP. I'd give the film a 7 or 8, but I'm rating it a 10 to balance out the ridiculous one-star ratings.
The Good Cop (2018)
Fun, breezy throwback with done-in-one mysteries
The pilot episode from the creator of Monk is a done-in-one buddy cop mystery with a light comedic touch that wouldn't seem out of place on USA Network, before it went dark and edgy. Great chemistry between Danza and Groban and a finely-tuned supporting cast. I'm giving it a 10 instead of the 8 it deserves to balance out the to-be-expected naysayers who will dismiss this show as cliche.
There is one great exchange between to supporting characters about unsolved mysteries: Why doesn't Tarzan have a beard, why do the Flintstones celebrate Christmas....?
One Dollar (2018)
Compelling mystery - No animals are hurt, killed in this show
A mystery that doesn't follow the usual set-up, but it is very engaging and is well-paced. I have to concur with the other reviewer confused by another reviewer's statement that a dog is killed in this show. That person is not confused, they are outright lying. The dog in question is not hurt or even threatened and certainly not killed. I have no idea why someone would make something up, if only to dissuade potential viewers from checking out a show he didn't like.
Souleater (2017)
Souleater - no thanks, I'm on a diet
A poverty-level attempt at horror that is so boring and so inept, it's hard to believe it was filmed by anyone that could be called a professional. Image a porn film with the sex scenes edited out. I was interested to see Peter Hooten, TV's original Doctor Strange, but that's what comic conventions are for.
