Blaze (2018)
I guess my love of blaze can't make up for this
I love blaze's legacy and story. I am also a huge Townes Van Zandt fan but this movie overall is just boring. And I like slow movies. I like anything from blade runner to shotgun stories. This just didn't hold up. The audio is poor and the script drags on and on I just wanted him to get shot even though I love his
stuff. The horrible straight beard is hard to get past too. Charlie doing Townes is actually the redeeming part and Alia shawkat as Sybil holds the movie up -besides the music ( which of course is sung like he lived, in a drunken stupor for his adult life. ) so still really most of his music is a let down from it's true potential. I guess that's the idea- to be true- so maybe like blaze drunkenly made the movie himself??
Norm Macdonald Has a Show (2018)
Missing things that the podcast had but it's still great!
If you are a fan of the podcast you will have to do a little adjusting. Number 1, it's not as edgy. I'm guessing because it's a bigger audience and Netflix had some influence. Number 2, they leave out a couple running jokes that are on the podcast. Mainly ones with Adam eget. And actually Adam is not involved in the conversations as much either.
It still funny and similar to Norm Macdonald Live. There aren't as many guest comedians so when he has his friends on line Davis spade or billy joe shaver , Norm is funnier and so are they. I've heard people saying Norm is a mess and a horrible interviewer. Well Norm has never been a good listener and always talked over the host of any late night show for decades now so what do you expect. That's part of the charm. He's a weird and funny guy. It' makes the whole experience a funny situation. I love it and recommend it to everyone but obviously some people just aren't gonna get it.
