Definitely more than meets the eye here. It's yourself if you believe in past lives with your love experience. That's exactly what this would look like in the Louis XIV century. Definitely voyeuristic that's what it would have been like without today's world wide web and multi media. Just imagine yourself during this time. Would you have been at someone's mercy or in control? exhibit control or just be a third-party witnessing experiences rather than experiencing things directly? That's what this films really about France does the best job with erotic films in my opinion, in the entire world at this time.

White privilege

For me one of the more polarizing films that I have seen. I have seen quite a few films and the thought that Janelle Monae felt strongly enough to take the lead on this movie and that the film needed to be made in the first place says so much about the inequalities, prejudice and hatred that continues to exist in society, especially America. We see this all around us, in the news and social media. I think some have become immune to its impact this is why for many it continues to perpetuate through generations and is such a challenge to eradicate. I don't want to give spoilers if you have not seen this movie but I thought it was an extremely imaginative and original film that did well emphasizing a specific message and making a strong point.

What is really important in life?
17 November 2020
Great film. One must rewatch. What is important in life? Is it perspective? Missed opportunity? Second chances? Human interaction and friendships? Forgiveness and saying I'm sorry or ultimately love?We all know saying sorry with real intent is very powerful. There are a lot of life lessons in this gem thus one of the few 10/10 ratings for me. It is definitely not the type of film to watch to get a thrill or to view to create a certain mood, however, a film that you watch introspectively, a film that is deep and perhaps a film to reflect on purposely regarding your "own life."

This film builds and builds until...

Never have I seen a movie quite like this. It's what I would call a slow burn with a turtle added in to that burn. I give it a solid 9 as it all comes together in the last 5 minutes albeit be prepared to watch a feel good movie after. This is not a feel good movie however, more of an experience much like "A Space Odyssey" or "Requiem for a dream" not to be viewed but to be experienced.

So sad and disturbing....American History
26 August 2020
I am not going to say much here. Everyone needs to watch this movie at least once for a better understanding of the past. This is a very well done movie especially considering the time when it was filmed.. Everyone needs to watch this movie at least once for a better understanding of the past. It is very horrible how other humans (Whites) treated other humans. The history of Americans is messed up. I really hope I don't share ancestry with slave owners! This is more of a movie that you watch because of how it makes you "feel" it is definitely not a film such as a modern psychological thriller or family drama or action movie. This is a film that makes you think.

Polish history beneath the surface

Warning: Spoilers
I love that this movie has ties to a back history that occurred in Poland. Fantastic "ghost story" I don't want to say too much, but watch it and see for yourself-when you see the picture frame of the married couple at their wedding in the rubbage. My take is this...the couple indeed had a wedding day and gets married but my opinion is that they never were married long with Germany invading, etc.

Best war movie (period)
28 July 2020
I have seen quite a few war films. However, this is the best portrayal of real war and it's horrible consequences. The film does an amazing job-for example the main character look at his face expressions in the first 1/4 of the film compared to the last 3/4th of the film. What an amazing job of displaying the horrors of war and way ahead of its time. 1985 release.

Sad, real life.
28 July 2020
Every day occurrence. On a positive note, I love the soundtrack very genuine to that region of the world. Crazy how other human beings treat other human beings and take advantage of those with less opportunity and privilege. Solid movie that portrays this and much more. 9/10 it's a hard watch like: "come and see" 1985 but one of those movies that you have to see once.

Shocking ending parallels with timeless Greek tragedies
6 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Although a very lengthy movie. Everything comes together in the last half hour of this film. I thought the plot twist was revealed in the last 30 minutes And thought to myself "oh that's not too big of a surprise"-but was shocked when the real plot twist is revealed in the last moments of this film. Very well acted one of the most tragic stories I've seen, however, definitely a 10 out of 10 😯
