The Last Picture Show (1971)
Typical Leftwing Hollywood Trash. The Overriding Theme is Sexual Perversion.
7 Oscar nominations. That should have been my first clue. Whatever Hollywood loves is trash.
I had heard so much about TLPS for years as a classic movie. Whenever I saw it on TV, it was fairly bland and boring. I couldn't see what all the fuss was about. Then I saw it On Demand, totally uncut, uncensored. THEN, I understood why all the attention.
So I watched it in its entirety last night and today. The theme is basically sexual perversion. You had sexual assault of minors, sexual assault of the mentally disabled, sex outside marriage, nudity, and vulgarity. You had a cast of perverts many of whom had multiple adulterous affairs in real life. Yes Cybill Shepherd was nice to look at, and she was why 99% of the people wanted to watch.
The makers of the movie defend it as showing reality in a small town. Maybe it's reality in some towns, but even so, why show such vile debauchery? What does that have to always be Hollywood's reality? But the movie debased any young person who saw it. And that's the Communist goal; to weaken America by destroying young people's morals.
Glengarry Glen Ross (1992)
Movie was Depressing. Thankfully, Not Realistic. Typical Leftist Hollywood Capitalism Bashing
Firstly, people don't talk profanely like this, using he F word in every other sentence. Secondly, people don't rant at co-workers like this. If they did, nobody would work there. There is no such thing as friendly normal conversation. So, the movie is unrealistic. Thankfully.
It's just the typical pessimistic atheist Hollywood view. No wonder atheists lead all belief in suicide. This movie is so depressing. The darkness, the pouring rain, the vile talk. It paints capitalism as completely cutthroat, when in reality, capitalism gives the best results of any economic system. Also, good salesmen aren't like the ones portrayed in this movie. They're honest, good people, looking out for others. That's what makes customers trust them.
I was not a better person for having watched this movie.
A Gift Wrapped Christmas (2015)
One of the very best!!
Loved the movie. Story was terrific. Actors were very good. Gwen, the personal shopper was beyond great. I got totally got lost in the story and fell in love with Gwen, too. I feel like she changed me just by my watching the movie. She cares so much for everyone else and tries to please them. Makes me want to do that, too.
This is one of those very rare special movies that changes you. I've seen it four times now, and I'll watch it again and again. It's the epitome of why I love Hallmark movies. Just pure clean fun.
Christmas Incorporated (2015)
Formulaic, but who cares?
Sure, it was corny and formulaic, but that's exactly what I love about Hallmark movies. They're clean, have mild religious overtones, no sex, maybe just a kiss at the end. Riley talks about her family attending Midnight Mass. Love that. I believe people crave these types of movies rather than Hollywood filth with their obligatory premarital sex scenes.
Riley is an appealing character, and she carried the film She's a little tart, not too mushy, not too gorgeous, but a nice down-to- earth girl you'd love for her to invite you to her parents' home for Christmas. The male lead wasn't as strong. The story wasn't all that strong, but I don't care. I liked it, and wanted to watch it until the end.
