Nacido en Gaza (2014)
If you don't cry you don't have a heart
This is absolutely heart wrenching to watch. Basically a prison camp for children to die or if they survive they end up with lots of traumatic psychological problems. I can't even imagine how much suffering this place has. Collective trauma. No wonder some of these kids grow up to join the resistance, they don't know any better and just see death all around. They have nothing to look forward to and just live in terror. This film was shot in 2014 and now it's 2023 when the latest war broke out. In the film the children say there is a war every year or 2. So this collective pain just keeps repeating itself. They can't work, they can't live, they can't dream of a future.
Umma (2022)
What did I just watch?
This definitely shouldn't have been a horror film. Would have been more interesting as a drama showing the psychological wounds of our ancestors. There was absolutely no reason to turn this into a horror genre. This was a huge mistake. Not scary because it just doesn't fit into a horror genre.
Promising Young Woman (2020)
Truth about women versus men
As a man writing this, this story is just one of thousands that don't get told, until now. Whether it's the "me too" movement or not, women's stories of truth are making their way out to the mainstream. Sure the acting was incredible, mulligan was incredible, but it's the story that has happened to so many faceless women. This story needs to keep getting told to show the truth about how men get away with so much more than women. I think there is no better time than now to rip open the facade and show what's really going on with the power men have had over women and how misogyny shows it's face in power.
Things Heard & Seen (2021)
Do yourself a favor and skip it
Pretty bad story and the ending will totally disappoint. All the characters were so superficial that you never really cared about any of them. And the daughter was in the film for only like 3 minutes. The story tried to put humanizing elements like her bulimia but it never went any deeper with that concept, everything just brushed the surface and in the end you don't care about anyone.
Stowaway (2021)
What a waste of time
Seriously to end the movie the way it did made the entire film useless and pointless.
Swallow (2019)
A movie made from "strange addictions" tv show
This movie seems like it was created from that tv show "strange addictions".
Hubie Halloween (2020)
So bad and annoying
Adam Sandler is like a child that's not even funny.
None of his jokes are funny. He's just annoying.
It Chapter Two (2019)
So boring and special effects were a joke
All the cgi and special effects take you out of being scared because it looks so fake and bad. Sadly this sequel is no good.
Otherhood (2019)
so cliche and predictable
I watched about a half hour and had to turn it off. everything was so predictable and written like a cliche.
Homecoming (2018)
a bit bland, more stylized than story
This was basically a series that should have been a film. Unfortunately I think the director's stylized it much more than actually telling a compelling story. His long cinematic shots and dramatic music like Hitchcock yet there story wasn't heart pumping enough, it didn't make you worry that much. The whole series just kept you at a certain mood the entire time instead of giving us some thrilling reveals or something too shake its monotony up. And can we say why Sissy Spacek who has been out of films for a while chose to play such a bland role of Julia Robert's mother?
Castaways (2018)
Lost me when it wasn't reality tv
After 2 episodes I got bored, the narration lost me. It didn't feel like a reality based show but rather scripted and purposely scripted.
