Better Call Saul (2015)
What would you do if you had a time machine?
We had an journey through time. Three timelines, one guy, multiple stories. Yet always the main focus of the story was time. A story with an inevitable dark ending yet it captivated us to desire for a good one. I'm glad they've crafted it this way, showing the colorful road to a black and white tomorrow.
Maybe the biggest challenge was creating a better prequel to an already unbeatable series. A near impossible task which they have achieved.
More than a review, my love letter to this series is for all the constistently great six seasons. Farewell Better Call Saul and thank you.
Utopia (2020)
Earning a place on this crowded streaming service...
The story is about a biological war between nerdy hipsters and the deep government organisation of rich corporate CEOs.
The awful script really takes it's toll on the story and the overall tone. Such a great production wasted with it's script and it makes the viewer feel sorry for all the people worked for it's cinematography.
In the end this version of the Utopia kills any taste left from the original and leaves us with a soulless echo of the old show which was the real Utopia.
The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)
"It's a love story."
This is a story about the misfortune of death and the capability of love.
Flanagan's story is perfectly blending the drama of the tragedies and the action of the horrors happening inside the walls of Bly Manor in a literary manner.
The history of the house is built within decades in a disordered way, creating a multi layered piece which is definitely delightful to watch.
Batoru rowaiaru (2000)
As one of the characters have said, "What's wrong with killing? Everyone's got their reasons."
A gory, dystopian horror movie with so much investment and care for it's every contributing character that it's rich enough to keep you on a rollercoaster of emotions throught it's whole runtime.
Not to mention a distinctive, groundbreaking source material that have been translated to big screen in such a style that it deserves it's own genre.
