Blood Relatives (2022)
Pretty simple tale of 2 "people" coming to terms with Incontrollable things in their lives.
I was bored, so I found this movie, & watched it.
It's an old school point & shoot tale, with no fireworks, explosions, CGI, etc.
Anyway, it could have been better.
I didn't notice any Je-w-ish connections, but I'm assuming the paper written in German, explained how he became what he is. His history, was barely touched on.
Also, if he was 115 years old, he sure didn't act it, using present time profanities, and such.
One doesn't just drop old language syntaxes, and suddenly adopt present time syntaxes generally.
If the elder vampire is 115 years old, he would have been born around 1905. Then, it seemed that he might have been turned, around the biological age 35 or so, making the year of his turning 1940, in the midst of WW2. So, from 1940, to the present day, is 1940-50=1 decade. 1950-60 another decade. 1960-70, another. 1970-80, another 1980-90, another. 1990-2000, another. 2000-2010, another. 2010-2020 another. Then 2 years beyond that, = 82 years, 8 decades since he was turned.
That's a lot of time to figure out how to live under cover, and deal with things. Including better finances. How'd he get money for gas, for the long road trip? Pawning historical treasures?
A nearly 100 year old, single male vampire, would have already figured out how to get night jobs, such as night staff at hospitals, overnight truck driver, private security, delivering newspapers before dawn, any other 3rd shift job, etc. Without needing a current ID, such as the way he got a job in the film.
Being single, he could go anywhere, and learn many things, spending each decade doing something somewhere, then the next decade learning something else. So, he'd be more worldly, and not have nothing after all that time.
Someone who lived through those times, wouldn't be so blasé' about most things in the present. This vampire, didn't act his age, so to speak. He would have had decades to deal with his condition, & know that shallow graves were too much work, & obvious.
Also, why drive such a rare car, that could be easily traced?
Driving a old, classic mobile home, would make more sense.
Even today, there are full time RVers, that travel & work as temporary help in random places they end up, such as harvesters, etc.
Also, in this day & time, there'd be no reason she couldn't school online & live & travel in an RV, rather than settling down in one place, which would limit their feeding opportunities.
So, if you suspend logic, it's an OK tale. It would have been better without profanities in it though.
Anything for Love (1993)
It's not THAT bad.
I've tried to watch some films, that I forwarded through, this wasn't one of them. One might have to be from the 80's, to fully appreciate the nuances of the times. The nudity, was not needed, especially supposedly depicting teens, aka underage girls. The coach, was terrible, to pressure a kid so. These days, boys ARE allowed on cheer teams. Anyway, it's just a silly story for entertainment, that actually isn't riddled with profanities like most of movies made today are. To whomever complains about Cory's acting, it's a wonder he could act at all, after being the victim of a child predator. That trauma caught up with him later, & he took his own life, which further traumatized his "brother" Cory Feldman, who was also victimized. A far as Alanis goes, I thought she was lip synching. The ending was quite abrupt. Did he win a music scholarship or not?
The New Legends of Monkey (2018)
It's refreshing, in that it's not dark with profanities, like most modern film/series
The set designs & props, are amazing, but, it IS low caliber, cheesy, campy, but, it moves along, and isn't so flat it's unwatchable. The Monkey "King", doesn't act monkey like, or king like at all. He just acts like an odd, ego centrical god. But the series grows on me. The characters are likeable, some more than others. This is very similar to other fantasy "trekking", series I've seen, like SAGA - Curse of the Shadow (2013) & L. O. R. D: Legend of Ravaging Dynasties, which I thought were a few notches better than this one, but all 3 are watchable, for a just a story come to life. It's not so terrible that I had to forward through any of it. The mercenary boy, in this series, is an outstanding actor for his age, & acts more mature, than virtually all the adults in the film.
Nomadland (2020)
Not a slice of true reality, only a half truth.
1. Nomadic people are real by choice, & not by choice
2. Nomadic people, are MUCH smarter than the lead character.
They would prepare as much as possible, before they set out.
If they had a vehicle, they would not set out, without a spare tire, jumper cables, antifreeze, oil, tow rope, matches, water, food, decent tires, etc.
3. Nomadic people, wouldn't go anywhere without a map, or route, or destination pre planned.
4. They'd try to not go way out on long stretches of road alone.
They'd either become nocturnal, & stick to small roads between towns, & sleep during the DAY, among other vehicles parked at length, such as at hospital, airport, tourist destinations, beach parking, and grocery stores, etc., or keep to large highways, that have rest/truck stops, where driver's are allowed to sleep at night. They'd go to a different place to sleep every day, as to not be spotted.
5. They'd try to be as presentable, as possible, so as not to stand out as homeless, or a vagrant. The main character, had noticeably unkempt hair, like she didn't know combs were invented.
6. The lead character, was gruff to everyone, but people still wanted to interact with her. That wouldn't happen in reality.
7. The lead character seemed to have several options, but rebuked virtually all of them, seemingly for no reason.
8. van dwellers, do have to use buckets as toilets, but it didn't show what they do to get rid of it, out in the middle of nowhere for days.
9. how did she power up her phone & power drill?
10. in the giving away scene, most nomads wouldn't keep that amount of stuff, in the 1st place, because any storage space, is needed for vital stuff.
11. a nomad, would not choose to sleep in the frigid cold, if they had a warmer choice.
12. They wouldn't leave a lot of stuff in storage somewhere because thy might not make it back to get it, after leaving. They'd either take it with them, or have others keep it safe for them.
13. most nomads don't have someone, to "borrow" large sums of money from, to borrow or payback.
14. if your van dies, you lose everything. Most nomads don't have thousands of dollars for emergency car repairs, nor anyone to "borrow" from.
15. In this film, she was never really unsafe. In reality, females traveling alone, are usually propositioned at least once on their journey.
16. The RV gatherings, really do happen, if you join an RV club, such as Escapees. Quartzite, used to be a gathering place for nomads, until a large group, demanded the local government provide services (water especially), then the local government, then subdivided the land into lots, and mass parking was prohibited, as far as I know.
17. even after meeting the lady with Cancer, who might just drop dead who knows where, having to "borrow" thousand of dollars, being stranded with nothing, getting sick, & tending the sick, being invited to settle down, she chose to supposedly keep driving into the unknown. That defies logic.
18. she seemed to survive, but not really embrace the actual lifestyle.
The Healer (2016)
Ok, The ending seemed rushed. "Abigail" seems like a young Winona Ryder clone.
Ok, movie, however, the lead, male actor was right, in that it wasn't enough time to decide. Also, I don't think people get gifts back, by demanding or threatening the giver. It could have been better, with a better lead up to the ending. It's a great "what if" story. What if one could eradicate illnesses & afflictions from society.
Adventures of Rufus: The Fantastic Pet (2020)
It's not a bad movie at all,, but it seems to be ann 80's style relic.
For the right age this is an entertaining story. However,, for other people used to tons of expensive CGI, cinematography, & seasoned actors, it will fall short. For kids' who want to see an adventure story coming to life, it's fine. Adults who don't like this, go watch I Am Dragon.
The Phoenix and the Magic Carpet (1995)
Yong kids might like it, but modern kids will probably not think so.
Love the UK setting, The bird is a bit disconcerting. Also, how could they miss something so obvious, regarding Helga? No swearing exccept the words "Kick azz".
The Goblin (2017)
Horrendously Horrible
1. Female actress is too young for the role. 2. She seems to be around 30 years old, but with grey hair. 3. unconvincing raving on the female's part. 4. the boy could have left at any time as he was left to roam the house most days.
SuperBob (2015)
Forwarded through most of it. Love intrest is pretty, until she opens her profane mouth.
REALLY dull, lackluster movie, of mostly various people bickering. I couldn't get into the story because of it. I'm sure there are better, similar films out there.
The Art of Self-Defense (2019)
2 minutes in, & dialogue laced with profanities, pretty much says it's a US film.
Picket to watch, to see underdog win, but was pretty much disgusted, by the way the office men spoke (profanities), to the excessively bravado "Sensai", to the foul mouthed female "teacher". No decent practitioner of Martial Arts would act like either of them. Also, "Sensei's" moves were choppy & cartoonish. Go watch Ralph Machio in the Karate Kid movie series, it's MUCH more rewarding, & not riddled with profanity. The "Sensai" is right about 1 thing. If you become good at a Martial Art/Self Defence, it becomes automatically deployed, when needed.
Journeyman (2007)
Ended too soon, but ended well compared to the proposed plot, that was never filmed
If it had gone on with the proposed plot (look it up), I would have abandoned it. I liked the 1st season, because it was about the people in the past more than the present. So many good shows are ruined by way too much interpersonal drama, where the actual interesting plot, then gets pushed to the backseat. Do you really think it was plausible that Dan & his wife would split, after everything they'd already been through? (proposed 2nd season plot) The sister in the house, already caused WAY too much unneeded friction. That happenstance, took time away from storyline, that could have been more details about the past instead. She invaded their house, then wanted them to buy another house, simply because she said so. She was a massive meddler, & I hated that part of the show. I grew up with 2 sisters, who became massively judgemental, and so I don't care if I never see them again, because their presence causes massive anxiety, that I don't want in my life. So, there's more peace in my life without them in it. They never had anything to say to me at length anyway. So, family, is NOT everything. A QUALITY OF LIFE, is what matters more. There's enough drama in real life, that we don't need to see it put in every show, just to create drama. Whatever happened to just telling a great story? Season 1 ended perfectly, in my opinion.
Future Man: Pilot (2017)
If you like profanity & vulgar innuendo every other minute, then this is for you.
I forwarded through most of it, & won't be watching the rest of the episodes. The plot was interesting, but massively poorly executed, & the dialog was horrendous. I should have known it was made in the US, as they can't make any film, without, profanity, vulgar/potty "humor", or bodily functions, in them.
El ministerio del tiempo (2015)
Very Engaging & Interesting, but the nudity & foul language doesn't help it any.
This is much better than US shows, but the language & nudity, although true to their time periods, prevents the show from having a wider audience.
