The Abyss (1989)
NTI's
I absolutely love this movie! I'm an avid scuba diver and love the underwater realm. It's an alien world on our own planet and James Cameron managed to bring that to film. It's not just that the film is stunning but the work required from everyone to create it was just astounding.
Sunshine (2007)
Absolutely adore this film.
The visuals, the soundtrack... Amazing. First time I sat down to watch this film I ended up watching it twice in a row. Loved how the film played as a space adventure then to flip over at the last minute to space horror.
Legit.
Pandorum (2009)
My kind of sci-fi horror...
Not a long review. This is my kind of film, trapped in the dark in an inescapable tin can in outer space with something hunting you.
Monsters of Man (2020)
More than expected.
I must say, wasn't expecting much from this film but it surprised me. Yes it's longer than it needs to be, but it was actually much better than expected. Only real issue I had was how the machines mow down children like its no biggie. You don't see that often.
Captain Marvel (2019)
Just NO...
Probably the most unlikeable super hero ever. I enjoyed the Kree more than Carol Danvers. I'm so glad they tried to keep her away from the avengers movies.
Greenland (2020)
Was expecting a disaster film not a drama.
As the title suggests, this was marketed as an end of the world movie, the trailer just showed big CG explosions. Turns out they used all the CG in the movie for the trailer. It was an excruciatingly boring family drama where very little happens. I kept nodding of during the film which I don't easily do, last time that happened was when I watched Elektra. Was very disappointed.
Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020)
Forgettable
I've seen this movie several times and for the life of me I can't remember much. There are no memorable characters, the story, which I can't really remember, was boring. And the most beautiful actress in the film spent most of it covered in crappy CG.
Man of Steel (2013)
I loved this film.
I have always wanted to see a remake of the first Superman film. I've always thought that a new film with General Zod would be awesome and this film did deliver just that.
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
Meh...
Don't know what happened here. First one was great this movie was a meh. The CGI was terrible, most character's choices didn't make sense. Actually, very little in this film made sense.
At least Gal Gadot was still something to look at.
Skyline (2010)
Didn't expect as much...
I knew nothing about this film when I sat down to watch it. What a surprise this was. So much fun. Sci-fi doesn't need to cost hundreds of millions. I wish we had more of this kind of film.
Skylines (2020)
Always reliable Skyline franchise.
The Skyline movies are simply sci-fi. Straight forward sci-fi. Reliable sci-fi. Enjoyable sci-fi. I don't need more than that.
Enterprise (2001)
My favorite
This show was soo entertaining to me. Definitely the best of the franchise for me followed by TNG. Such a shame that it only survived for so few seasons.
Westworld (2016)
Season 1 is 10/10...
What an amazing first season. Anthony Hopkins at his finest, intriguing story, loveable and hateable characters. Season 2 had 1 good sub plot and Season 3 undid all of that.
Raised by Wolves (2020)
Enjoyed it quite a bit...
A bit of fresh sci fi made from the leftovers of Ridley's other franchises. This is not a nock on the show.
The Midnight Sky (2020)
Like watching paint dry.
Another one of those films that starts in the middle and finishes before the end. Pointless film. And so easily predictable. At least I wasn't disappointed because it turned out to be exactly what I expected, crap...
The Gentlemen (2019)
A Guy Richie film.
Nicely done, one of the few decently entertaining films to come out in the past year.
I'm Thinking of Ending Things (2020)
Me too
After watching this, I felt like the title. 2 hours lost forever.
The Professor and the Madman (2019)
I don't like dramatic films... Watch this movie!
I don't like dramas, as the title says.
I had zero expectations when I sat down to watch this film, especially since I'm not a huge Sean Pen fan either.
How surprised was I to find a fantastic story with great characters. The film kept me thoroughly engrossed. I could not believe it, this film left me thinking for days after watching it. Performances from everyone was on the mark.
And now I have to admit that for a guy that does not enjoy dramatic films, this film has become one of the best films I have seen in a very long time.
Do yourself a favor and watch this film.
Joker (2019)
I'm not much for drama.
Please don't get me wrong, this was a good film, especially Phoenix's performance, which was one of the best performances I have ever seen. In my book he has officially joined Heath Ledger as a Legend.
The issue I have is that most dramas bore the pants off me, this was no exception. I think I passed out 2 or 3 times during the film. Had to watch it a second time to catch up on the story.
I'm a Sci fi fan, sorry. But if you are into dramas, you gonna love this.
The Lion King (2019)
Soulless
Disney seems to enjoy lighting their ip on fire. They completely destroyed this film and it's one of my all time favorites. I'm 33 and can recite the original word for word. This film I would not even show to my kids.
I think had they brought the original over into CG verbatim, it would have cost less and been better.
