I don't think I'll be adding anything new here. Brilliant film!

The Fall (I) (2013–2016)

Great but could have been so much more
19 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I'm not going to delve into a lengthy review as that has clearly been overdone. Started off incredibly intriguing, good character development and well thought out plot. People complain about the dive into Spector's past in season 3 saying that it was drawn out and unnecessary. I don't agree with this, what's the point in a series about a serial killer with no context behind it? Motive explanations lead you along the path of why the deaths are happening and what could possibly drive an individual to commit such horrific crimes. The only bone I have to pick with it is the end episode started off well but ended abruptly with hardly any twists or turns that the series had previously offered. One more season would have completed the drama perfectly.

Suspiria (I) (2018)

Not what you expect
25 February 2020
A lot of bad reviews on here probably from those expecting a copy of the original. I personally didn't want a copy (what's the point in that?), the original had a chilling score and beautiful visuals but wasn't all that scary. They say this movie is an art scene but in my opinion, the original focuses more on art as it does actual horror. This Suspiria delves more into the coven of witches and the substance you would want from a so called horror movie. I am a massive horror fan but I pick what I watch wisely as the horror genre as a whole is only 25% good. If you want substance then watch this film, if you want cheap jump scares, lack of story and crappy Hollywood types then look elsewhere.

Could have been so much more
20 October 2019
The atmosphere was perfect for a horror, everything else about it wasn't. You couldn't accuse this film of having plot holes as there was no plot. Another half hour of explaining what was going on could have turned it around. I can't even mark this review as having spoilers as the film itself doesn't even have spoilers.

Dracula but different
9 April 2019
A brutal telling of Dracula with a devilish Charles Dance co-starring. Not anything like the romanticised 90s version which may please some, this tells a story of a different kind. Can't believe it only rates as a 6.3/10.

Really is a must-see
24 January 2019
Understandably, it won't be to everyone's taste. But it's stylish, unforgiving and unrelenting look at the upside-down world of a sociopath and his criminal activities is not to be ignored. It is a timeless look at how the world and its justice system is epically flawed and how even the most sadistic of acts can be justifiably shaped to fit somebody's story. His acts are warped and so is his reasoning but, you don't go away from this movie truly hating him which is messed up in its own way!

This good thing came to an end...

Not just a horror, not just a thriller and not just a great story. Just watch it. So sad it's over now...

Not what it seems
26 October 2018
An imaginative, colourful but sad story. The elements of the supernatural help the story along at a tense pace. I was gladly surprised by this movie thinking it would be something totally different. As a horror fan, it's nice to be led into one thing and be presented with something else just to remind me there are great stories to be told.

Corker

Although not thoroughly original (creatures, apocalyptical scenario), this film hits sore but important points. The anguish of not making a sound mixed with the dire consequences of doing so. Pulse raising stuff and not your average Hollywood production.

Mother! (2017)
Abhorrent

"Art" is thrown around like a frisbee in this movie's case. It is based upon an opinion that is force fed to the audience with pure shock value (something other horror movies get absolutely slaughtered for). Sometimes, it is better to not see an act of horror but rather for it to be implied. I created an account purely to rate this film and as a lover of films, a lover of this film I am NOT! Avoid if you have any sense.
