Could have been fun
15 January 2023
I selected this at random on Netflix thinking that I needed a frivolous diversion and hoping that it could live up to that expectation, at least. When they started to preach to be about race and gender identity I jumped ship. No thanks.

Synopsis.

Set in the American West of 1876, 'R. I. P. D.2: Rise of the Damed' is a spiritual (pardon the pun) sequel to 2013's 'R. I. P. D.' Sheriff Roy Pulsipher isn't too thrilled about finding himself dead after a shoot out with a notorious outlaw gang, but he does get a second chance to return to earth after being recruited by the R. I. P. D. (Rest In Peace Department.). But avenging his own murder may have to take a back seat to saving the world when a gateway to hell is opened in the old mining town of Red Creek threatening not only the locals... but all of humanity itself.

No Midnight Mass
29 October 2022
I love the creative team that made this! And, while it doesn't rise to the level of a Midnight Mass, it's very much worth watching. It gets off to an uneven start, IMO. Although, it's not hard to watch at any point. For the most part, the characters are well and fully realized with interesting backstories. You will get some overwrought LGBT sermons, FYI. The sets and acting are all 1st rate. Check it out.

Synopsis.

A group of terminally ill teenage patients resides at Brightcliffe Hospice, and together they create the Midnight Club. They meet in secret at midnight to tell horror stories. Together the group forms a pact, that whoever dies first would make the effort to contact the rest of the Midnight Club members from beyond the grave.

All in all
15 May 2022
So, I went into this with very moderate expectations so, maybe for that reason, I was fairly impressed. I almost gave up on it in the initial sequence where we see the main character's motivation. They style of it was just off-putting to me at first. But, I stuck with it until I got into the right frame of mind and I was able to enjoy it. I'd recommend it.

Hard to sum up
14 March 2022
I'm not a professional reviewer nor am I a Lovecraft aficionado. But, I've read a lot of Science Fiction and seen a lot of shows.

To me, this borrows a lot from the Lovecraft ethos and, unlike most Lovecraft themed movies / series. It keeps things tight enough to be watchable by the casual viewer. Not a vanity project or low budget mess like most of it's ilk.

I recommend this to the average viewer and I hold it out to be what the Lovecraftian story can be when done right.

Slice of life
4 March 2022
Cool little slice of life film set in 1970s California. Combination of the absurd and the affectionate. It's hard to put my finger on what I liked about it but I liked it plenty. I don't think it would have worked with anyone other than Haim.

Conversely, my wife yawned he way about 2/3 of the way through it and went to bed...

This could have been stellar
25 February 2022
This was a fun little adventure tale set in the late 1800's British colonial era. David Tennant is excellent as always.

It would have been a much better bit of entertainment absent the heavy handed and distracting sermon on race and feminism that is ridiculous for the period.

Just stick with the first season
25 February 2022
The first season of this show was a complete win and I LOVED IT. Just consider me to be in agreement with all of the good reviews.

Save yourself the trouble of being disappointed in the second season. The magic just went right out of it.

Something for everyone!
27 December 2021
I had some slight familiarity with the event upon which this show was based. So, for that reason, I was drawn to check it out. But, you need not have any familiarity with the history or the myriad theories about what happened to greatly enjoy this production.

It's got something for everyone. Good production, good score, good acting, physical drama and romance (adult and young adult) People to root for. Even though you will know the outcome all the way through they still manage to build a sense of anticipation.

If they ever dub this I hope they give it the A+ effort. Otherwise, it's better left as is.

Wet Dream

Wet dream. For militant feminists. With compounding interest. All of which might be tolerable if it had any other redeeming qualities which could outweigh the distractions.

If you have ever read an old English story
11 October 2021
If you have read stories written during early English period, this will feel very authentic. It's stays true to that ethic throughout. Visually appealing and well conceived. Great acting. 10/10 for the type of file that it is.

A lot of heart

What a gem. The characters are fully realized humans with meaningful relationships. Lots of characters to cheer for. Good music, humor and a bit of adventure. I liked it a bunch.

I wasn't taken with this to start with. The characters and acting are pretty uninspired. Adrian Brody is no exception here. I might have kept watching it for a while to see if it got better but it set in such low lighting that I got tired of straining my eyes.

Nope
8 August 2021
I have no idea if this thing had a political agenda or what that agenda is because is sucked so much that I couldn't get to the 10 minute mark before I had to turn it off. I only gave it two stars because I didn't want to give a movie I hadn't seen all of one star.

I thought it was entertaining
15 July 2021
I'm not sure why so many folks hate on this. But, I thought it was very entertaining. It's ain't high brow for sure. But, a perfectly good way to pass the time if the premise appeals.

I LOVE stupid creature features

I love stupid creature features. But, they have to strike the right balance of something that this one just doesn't.

Feels like I've seen a million of these
27 June 2021
My wife and I watch a ton of the detective / murder shows that have been made by BBC. To me, this is the ultimate execution of that format. Slavish attention to every detail. My PA friend says that they did a really good job of capturing the accents and feel of they area.

Yeah!
27 June 2021
I loved the old Top Gear episodes with Clarkson. They weren't all great but often enough to keep me watching the show. But, I was pretty disappointed with the Grand Tour. The magic was just not there.

I went into this with pretty low expectations, honestly.

The show is hard to describe in a way that makes it sound interesting but it is. For those of you who have familiarity with Clarkson, you will see some of the same personality come through here from time to time with good effect. For those of you who don't, you are in for a treat! Just watch it. You may even learn a couple things by accident.

To me, this is the best of the series. Bravo. Plenty of good scares regardless of what the other reviewers say on that matter.

boring
2 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
You will get to be bored by idle prattle at a turn of the century (20th) Irish dinner party with affluent people in attendance. Then you will get to be unimpressed by Angelica Houston's unrealistically emotional remembrance of some kid that died a long time ago. The end.

So....
27 May 2021
So, this is pretty bad. But, my Wife and I agreed that for some reason that we can't pin down it's very watchable. If the premise appeals to you, I suggest you watch it.

A very entertaining way to pass a couple of hours if you like the shark / creature film genre. 7/10 for the type of film that it is.

Daughter character is extra bad
22 May 2021
I'd gotten about a third of the way in to what was only an unremarkable movie when the daughter character made it an unbearable one. Count me out. Too bad, I needed a good zombie fix.

Could have been better
8 April 2021
If the point of this show is to examine the guilt or innocence of Daniel Green or irregularities in his trial then it was poorly conceived. They waste an entire episode talking about unproven accusations of police corruption and the unproven assertions of racism that occur prior to this trail and are, utterly, unrelated to Green's case. They go so far as to ascribe "White privilege" to an Indian. If I were Daniel and I really was innocent of 1st degree, I'd be a bit disappointed by the circus sideshow. He's no angel for sure. But, is he the guy that pulled the trigger? I'm not too sure about that.
