Cinematography Shout Out
30 March 2018
1960. Panavision. Harry Waxman. We need to talk about the cinematography in this film, because OH MY! The shot composition, the lighting, the movement, I could go on! It's a visually stunning masterpiece - not even talking about the story! Which is also fantastic. Treat yourself and watch a fun family adventure that just happens to be eye candy!

Yes, It's Sad
30 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Listen, everyone knows this movie is heartbreaking. Not only is it heartbreaking but it's a FANTASTIC film. Which makes it even more heartbreaking. Dorothy MacGuire and Tommy Kirk stand out in this film. Dorothy has subtle acting moments that lend themselves to treasured gems (her moment of realization KILLS me every time). Tommy Kirk is a KNOCK OUT in this movie. His performance during THAT scene is what brings the audience to tears. Yeah, shooting your own dog is sad, and man do I love that dang dog, but Tommy's performance enraptures the audience and brings down the house. As sad it is, I can't help but recommend this title. A great classic.

Richard Todd and Glynis Johns Never Fail
30 March 2018
Richard Todd was a Disney star for a short while, but he certainly didn't disappoint. He and Glynis Johns were in more than one movie together and I have to say that this is their strongest collaboration. Richard Todd is dreamy, eloquent and enchanting. Glynis Johns is strong, ethereal and flawless. The story is fun and surprising. I had never even heard of this movie and am so happy to have gotten the opportunity to watch it. I HIGHLY recommend this film. It's a proper treat!
