Yellowstone: An Acceptable Surrender (2020)
the worst episode so fare
This was an absolute average episode that didn't develop the plot, it made more problems for the Dutton family which they already have plenty of.
Their focus should be on th eland and the characters, this is what made the first two seasons good. I sure hope they find their way back to that, or the series will be a drag from here on out.
Laos the new characters are interesting but don't get enough screen time, like the side characters in the first two season, we did have plenty of characters that they could have focused on before bringing in new ones.
Also the risk of seizure is such a grab for season 3 I would have waited and ended the series with it as they can do very little against the federal government.
Chicago Fire: Acting Up (2023)
Cruzes pain and a lot of mislead
We get a load of tales in this episode but most of them arent written bad they just didnt get the screen time they needed, I wish they would focus more on the fires and the incidens and work the conflicts and character drama in there, then just going all around.
I know they have lost Matt Casey and now Severide is taking a break from the grind. BUT they really lack focus in this episode, it had very promising plots buzt it was just not told well because of the lack of time.
This is the first episode of this season that. Actually was average. It didnt get me hyped up while it could have done that easily. The writers need to focus more on whats going on and not try to tell everything at once.
FBI: Family First (2023)
Focussing on Tiff
SInce her debut we havent had much look into her past or her family. This episode is really focused on her and i get some dont like that, usually i prefer when they focus on the case and how the team works, rather than on the drama.
BUT from time to time I enjoy background information on the characters and in this episode it is weaved really well into the case. Do we have a really action filled episode? No. But we have still a great one focusing on Tiff and on mental illness.
There is a lot to be said about how the media treats mental health issues, but tbh I think they did well here for a mainstream programming.
I also enjoyed the dynamic between Tiff and Scola, one little note, at one point in the episode scola looked really pale, I hope this was a make up failure or a light issue because it didnt look to healthy.
Also the memento of Tiffanys mother is really cool, I know in big cities this is done rarely as each bench and tree would be named by now, but still it is a special way to memorize somebody and give back to the city that person lived in.
FBI: International: BHITW (2023)
Strong case
This case was one of the best ones they have worked yet, not only do we get to see yet another country, we havent been to before, we get to see one of the most beautiful cities in eastern europe.
The case surrounds a american basketball player who dies in a strip club, the one behind it is really not as obvious as in other episodes of this series, which is a nice change of pace, to be honest.
The greater storyline behind the case is also well done, Dandridge is a person you can hate easily and his new addition to the team furthers this hate a lot.
It is nice to see how the team will react on forrester maybe transfer which of course will not happen as he will stay in this series at least till the end of the season. After that who knows, we have had other FBI series in which they have changed the lead role and I am open to it once again if they run out of stories to tell with this team.
Fire Country: My Kinda Leader (2023)
the best of the best
For the first time in this series we get to see diffrent teams from Cal Fire, all is surrounded by the past of Mr. Leone Senior which is a nice change of pace.
The prison angle is sdtrange to me, one would think that the inmates would wanna leave jsut as much as anyone else being in danger.
The drama is on the upper scale again, one thing makes me doubt the writers though.
Body is yet again running against his captain, while the rules at fire cmap suggest he cant even do that, without risking to be thrown back into jail. I think this is a case of to much influence of Thierot, which I understand. BUT it makes for a bad story if they would drop that and let him do the work, getting better and take the rollercoaster that he is having just more naturally than this series would become one of the best and could run 5 to 10 seasons.
THe memory of the fallen Rebecca is not taken good care of this episode I hope they drop it or make it better, survivors guilt is a real thing and they made it look very childish. And the angle that Brody likes the captain even though he isnt listening that is devasting bad.
I love the hunt for the arsonist and Im looking forward to this angle and how they are going to make that story come toghether with everything els ein three weeks. Is it jake? Or is it liek im expecting the new probi?
Alert: Missing Persons Unit: Chloe (2023)
Slow start
The background is amazing, Scott Caan in the Sandbox then his son is taken and we jump a couple of years.
At the end of the first episode we get the son back without actually struggling to hard. There is a real Homeland angle in this, how it will play out we dont know yet.
There is their catchphrase which is dropped a bit to much, no real focus on the family of the abductee, which makes it hard to belive.
All in in all a average start into the show, that feeds one to many cliches for me but i understand that i can appeal to a broad audience. The mystery surrounding the son is the best part yet.
Chicago P.D.: Blood and Honor (2023)
This one is Ruzek
As this is only the first part of a two or even more episode investigation we yet dont know everything, but compared to last week this weeks episode is at least something that deserves the name Chicago PD.
The focus is on an undercover OP that is led by Ruzek and the whole time we dont know what actually is going on.
On the flipside the unit seems out of touch yet another time only focusing on one particular member hasnmt done most of em any favors. The Upton episode was good the Voight episode was epic but ruzek and burgess underdelivered by a longshot compared to voight.
So where does this leave the series and moving on?? I think they might run out of content even thgough it is hard to imagine. Their focus on the characters has taken them in a direction that is hard to come back from.
I hope im wrong but i think we are witnessing the way to the end of the series.
Fire Country: False Promises (2023)
getting the hang of it
This series has been up and down all season, focusing on the emotional part more than on the firefighting has been kind of a misslead, but this episode makes up for it, the balance is great. Of course there is a lot of drama as that is the premise of the series, but i enjoy the rescue of eve and that they are not afraid to take one character of the board.
The death will further the development of Brody and give him and Gaby more room to grow into their characters.
Thierot seems a bit of in earlier episodes, still hustling with his former role of a seal or just not beeing as soaked into it. But here we get a great perfomance out of him.
Chicago P.D.: Trapped (2023)
Well not GG and not WP
Compared to the episode of last week, this had zero connection to the viewer. YOu get dragged along for the ride, but neither is it enjoyable nor does it make any sense what so ever.
For me personally it would have made sense if burgess would have stepped away after this episode, but as far as i know she didnt, also what is with all the absenseces especially from the newest member of the squad who supposodly has to bring in a new dynamic?
What is with void how can he just sit idly while Kim is going of the rail so fast?
And how is adam ok with this??
There is no point in this episode it would have been one of the worst ways to end burgess. It leaves the viewer speechless but not in a good sense.
Definetly the low point of the whole series until now.
Chicago P.D.: The Ghost in You (2023)
More Focus on Chapman
This episode develops Chapmans Character quite a bit, also Hank proves yet again that he is there to protect the city and the ones that feel the same way about Chicago as he does. He could have made Chapman go away but he helped her.
I like that this episode focuses more on Hank as the one before did give me the impression that we would see more of Upton and the former chiefs son. So I feel like they did a good job on focusing on more than one storyline and when they all come together in the season finale it will be epic and the aftermarth will give them enough material to go another half season, maybe even a whole season.
What I wish they would do before the next season.
I honestly hope they will give him another teenager to foster like he did back when Erin was a teenager, this would give him even more dynamic.
