Darkness (2002)
I liked it for the most part
The movie was good for the most part. I really did enjoy it until the end. Then again, I love any movie with Anna Paquin in it because she does such a great job. Why did the whole family have to die though? It would've been so much better if, at the end, the brother and sister had NOT died. I was somewhat glad that the mom died though; she was weird.
I did enjoy how nice the sister was to her younger brother, although that was weird (no older sister is like that). Didn't Regina (Anna's character) know what she was doing when she cut her father's throat though? Didn't she know that she was going to instantiate the curse? The guy just told her. Why did she do it??? I'm so confused.
Also, why didn't the mother care about her son? He was getting the snot beat out of him by those demon kids, and the mom didn't believe him nor did she care about his injuries. This movie was not logical there. The ending also left me slightly confused; is the whole world evil now? Is there no one left alive on earth any more?
The whole idea of returning the world to its original "evil" state is wrong though. In the beginning, the world wasn't "evil".
You have to watch out for what these movies try to tell you. Some movies, such as this one, present some strange beliefs that you shouldn't let yourself believe.
The Wicker Man (2006)
I hated the ending.
Believe me, you'll be VERY GLAD you read this, even though it's a spoiler.
As I was watching this movie, I thought it was kind of neat. The guy's (Nicholas Cage) daughter was missing on some weird island (the island's inhabitants are what made it weird), and he was searching for her. The movie was pretty good until the end when I found out the truth. It turns out the entire "your daughter is missing" thing was just a scheme to get him to come onto the island so that those outrageous pagans could sacrifice him! They sacrificed him at the very end, and then two girls went out to find to more guys to sacrifice for later. There is no other movie in existence that stinks as much as this one does. I would actually pay someone to destroy every copy of this movie in existence.
Some things the movie tried to tell me (that I, of course, don't agree with): 1) Women are evil. 2) Having sex with women can have dire consequences (i.e. being sacrificed). 3) Never go to strange islands to find your daughter. You may find her, but you'll never come out alive.
You get the idea. This movie was horrible.
